PRICE ERROR - NOW FIXED AT $1774

Seems to be a fair price on this lens. Generally retails for around $1400, currently on sale at CameraPro for $1174 before shipping.

    That’s an excellent price for GM if it’s not price error.. paid $100 less for Sigma Art equivalent..

      Nah to be honest a lot of these older V1 GM lenses aren't fantastic… The 24-70 GM is a great example, they had to rework it from the ground up to compete with Sigma and Tamron

      The Sigma DG DN equivalent is arguably better though. Just doesn't have the GM branding.

      I have only had a short time with this lens during one of Sony events and one thing that surprises me was how rock solid it feels and easy to grip (compared to both legacy DSLR and other mirrorless lens with the same 85mm focal range) despite the weight.

      I prefer the Bokeh compared over other 85mm lens for the sharp rendition and the contrast on this lens is excellent though with all the comments regarding the Sigma I will definitely check that one out.

    Very interesting - essentially the same price as the Sigma 85mm F1.4 ART…

    Pros / Cons vs Sigma:

    • Heavier than the Sigma (i.e. 820g vs 630g)

    • Worse autofocus

    • Less sharp in the corners

    • Less pleasing bokeh

    Looks like this is a lens that's about to be replaced by a Version 2…

        Yep they're all cons - Some people say that the only thing the GM is better at is flare control

      'Pleasing bokeh' is pretty subjective, personally the bokeh is the one pro of the GM, much softer and more dream like, also can't forget focus breathing comp with the A7IV and FX6.

        Some people say that bokeh is 'creamier' on the GM. To me that just means that it's less sharp away from the centre of the frame lol. But to each their own, so much of photography is subjective, I still shoot with vintage Nikon AIS lenses even though the LOCA is obscene

    I paid over $2K for this lens years ago and still think it was worth the coin, absolutely phenomenal character whilst simultaneously being technically almost perfect.

      The linked paged shows an authorized seller badge and it appears to be a legitimate camera store so I don't think this is a grey import. Possibly just reduced due to new models releasing soon?

    I sold my 85mm GM for the Sigma DG DN.
    Much better than than GM. Even at that price!
