Gigabyte AORUS Gen4 7000s 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD $159 Delivered @ BPC Tech

750

Cheapest that I could find at the moment by a long way:

  • bpctech - $159
  • Amazon - $199
  • Ebay - $199 (less $10 with coupon)
  • Scorptech - $249
  • mwave - $279

Very happy to be proven wrong, as it means an even better deal for others :)

  • From the reviews on the site it appears to be - but can someone confirm for me if this is PS5 compatible? Sick of uninstalling games just to install updates…

    • +1

Yes it's PS5 compatible, heatsink fits too!

    • +2

Literally any pcie 4 drive is ps5 compatible

Heatsink info is nice though as per above confirmation from that guy

      • I thought some have non-removeable heatsinks that don't fit?

        • Barely any would be actually non removable but yeah some preinstalled ones don't fit

    • Direct statement on the manufacturer's website: https://www.gigabyte.com/SSD/AORUS-Gen4-7000s-SSD-1TB#kf

I've had this since the firmware update allowing the additional internal SSD, has worked flawlessly (and I paid over $300 at the time!)

      • +1

Same here. Had it since firmware. Fits perfectly, no issues.

      • Do I need firmware updates before plugging into my PS5?

        • The PS5 wont know you have it installed unless you have one of the updated PS5 firmwares from September 2021 onwards.

    • Yeah working great in my PS5. Didn't upgrade the firmware though; maybe I'm missing out.

    • I have the 2TB version. Fits and easy to install.

  • +2

Yes, I have one of these in my PS5.

Does anyone have a crystal ball. Is there expected to have price reductions in the future. Especially 2 to 4tb

Or is this the best bang for buck and worth pulling the trigger for my some PS5

  • All time low?

    • +4

Pretty sure it is and I'm also pretty sure it is the lowest price for a PS5 compatible 1TB SSD with a heatsink, at least for the well known brands.

      • Cheers mate! Great stuff OP.

        • +1

SN850 1 TB was 149 AUD from Amazon UK during (or immediately after) Prime day deal iirc. But yeah this is still a good deal

          • +1

@Masticccc: Looking back, I believe that one did not come with a heatsink. There seems to be some good ssd deals from Amazon UK but I didn't take advantage of those mainly due to the preference of local stock.

  • Thanks OP, got one.

  • Great price!

  • Can I have this one and an external USB HDD on PS5 (for PS4 games) at the same time?

    • +2

      Taken from playstation website

Why add an M.2 SSD to your PS5 console?
Once installed in the PS5 console, M.2 SSD storage can be used to download, copy, and launch PS5 and PS4 games, as well as media apps. This allows you to increase the storage space available to you on your PS5 console. You can freely move games between the PS5 console’s storage, a connected USB extended storage device and the added M.2 SSD storage.

Definitely a good price but the store rep posted about it on Friday here

  • Can you remove the heatsink on this one?

  • Amazing price. I got the Kingston KC3000 deal for 179 from BPC a couple weeks ago, which was already good. I wish I waited more, but still happy with it. I wonder if the gen 5 will be noticeably faster or at least push the gen 4 price further down.

    • +1

I notice that Kingston KC3000 comes with a heat spreader only. Can I use it on PS5 without a heatsink? I ordered the Gigabyte 7000s but BPC offered the Kingston KC3000 instead.

      • I am wondering the same thing. So far couldn’t find research for that.

        • From what I could see, although you could use it without a heatsink, the thermals may not end up being too great for it.
I got the offer to substitute as well and decided to go for the KC3000 as $159 seemed like a good price for it. I just decided to order a heatsink from Amazon, this one looked to have decent reviews, though there are other ones less expensive than that available.

          • @obelix55: I've been emailing back and forth with them about this. Would you know if we need to remove the heat separator to fit with a heatsink? or can we have both. They sent me this as an optional heatsink.

            • +1

@ferds: Not too sure to be honest, but I'd imagine to get more efficient heat transfer it would be better to remove the heat separator and apply the thermal pad of the heatsink directly on to the SSD

  • Ahh crap it's sold out

  • Purchased one and received an email stating they sold out. Got offered for it to be swapped for a Kingston KC3000 at the same price, which as far as I know performs slightly better?
