InfaSecure CS7313 Convertible Car and Booster Seat $79.99 @ ALDI

660

Had a look on the box and it says model number CS7313. Seems to be rebranded Mother’s Choice Levi.
Good value with reasonable rating and plenty of stock available.
Child Car Seats Rating:
https://www.childcarseats.com.au/find-and-compare-child-car-…

Edit:
Although manufacturer claim it suits babies form 6 months to 8 years old, it is strongly recommended by many that to keep little ones in rear facing seats as long as possible, or at least 24months for maximum protection.

Edit 16/08: price reduced to $79.99

    +1 for the investigation

Bought Mother’s Choice Prime AP for $219 during Baby Bunting’s EOFY sale and regretting really bad!

      • Would it make this deal bad too since they are all Mothers choice?

        • Regret the price not the product. I bought a Mother’s Choice one from ALDI in 2020 for $129. Tip my hat to Aldi for keeping the same price with the crazy inflation.

      • Still on sale for $219, are you saying thuis one is better value even though it's an inferior model?
        https://www.babybunting.com.au/product/mothers-choice-prime-…

        • +1

Prime AP has better fabric cover, it has AP (air protect) and wicking fabric, but IMO it does not worths the extra $100.
I’d buy the CS7313 if I get a second chance lol.

I have two from Amazon that I bought ages ago. Also see my comments here
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/626564

Work well for me and no complaints other than the usual issue with pulling the straps tight enough requires you to be the incredible hulk. I now lean over from the front seat and pull it tight. Still in seat belt mode for my 22kg 6 year old.

Given the price is almost half what I paid I'd say buy now even if it's a spare for the grandparents

    • +2

A tip that may help - try pulling the strap more up than out. Seems to make it a little easier.

      • +2

        ++ this

I try to do that and feed it back in towards the top of the straps as I’m pulling down. Works a treat

      • +2

Another tip: put your body weight on the seat to press it down further while pulling the strap

  • Big W has a large range from Infasecure half price at the moment.

My wife always wanted a convertible. Thanks OP

  • Thank you so much .. we have another child due in December and want to get ready so this is prefect and your awesome for doing a review check

  • What about compare to InfaSecure Raptor Move Convertible Booster Seat? Big w sells 169, anyone know the difference?

    • +1

I think the one posted above also has other names Raptor move , Aspect..

  • +5

Ideally you want your child rearward facing for as long as possible (for maximum safety,), I'm going to try for at least until they're 2 years of age. Just an fyi

  • Any recommendations for child seat that can be used by newborn?

    • +3

      Britax 100%

      • Britax Safe-n-Sound b-first

    • So many choices but do your research on the CREP scores. They are safety devices and hence why I think this is the number 1 criteria

    • +4

For 0-4, I’d recommend infasecure attain or britax graphene since they’re compact and you can usually fit 3 across and usually won’t impact passenger / driver seats because of their narrow depth

    • +1

      Britax graphene or Millenia

  • Any deals on a isofix convertible? Preferably britax

    • Isofix 0-4 years only. Graphene or Millenia. I’d go Graphene for the narrower width as many have said on here.

      • Graphene is excellent but 5 times the price. Build quality and functionality does seem at least 2 or 3 times better though. But it also only lasts up to 4yrs

        • Yeah. Plus how many kids you have, age difference, and number of cars you need to fit out (e.g. second car, grandparents car) etc also relevant to calculating cost.

  • Any recommendations for a seat with side head rests for the kid to sleep? My son is 3yo, and when he's sleeping, his head leaned on one side.
    Thanks

    • I don’t think there is anything on the market…
Skoda Kodiaq has an optional sleeping package with side head rest for back seats though ;)

    • +1

Maxi Cosi Luna Pro has this feature.

  • So can this convert to using the seatbelt only instead of the 5 point strap?

    Edit: disregard you can

  • What is it like on long trips? I have older Infasecure seats in one of the cars and kids fight for the Maxiguard seat

  • I haven't been able to find them at any of my local ALDI stores in VIC. The website says 'Experiencing Delays.' Anyone had any luck?

  • Any thoughts on how it compares to the is one from big w? Similar price point.

    https://www.bigw.com.au/product/mother-s-choice-dawn-booster…

    • The one you posted is a booster only.
      Not comparable.

    • Rating for safety stuff looks good, just pretty low for ease of use, including the strap pulling that drives most of us bonkers. Would love recommendations for a convertible that doesn't make me collapse afterwards in a pool of sweat

      • The above ratings for the cs7313 look poor front and side impacts.

  • +2

I’ve found that lower level seats such as these made our youngsters stroppy in the heat due to being uncomfortable. I guess the fabric or filling just didn’t suit being in a hot car. We have no issue with a higher level infasecure seat. Safety is paramount in seats, but don’t discount the comfort, which can really cause issues.

    • +1

Cars have something called air conditioning. I find this beats the top of the range seats with no air conditioning

      • Yeah, but seats retain and radiate heat for quite some time. An unsettled, upset toddler worked up is not a great match for an uncomfy seat.
It was paramount for us due to regular 6-8 hour drives to remote locations.

    • That's usually the price difference the heat and sweat wicking seat fabrics cost more

  • -6

Imaging loving your kid so much that you buy them the cheapest seat available.

    • +11

imagine loving your kid so much that you get taken advantaged by all the excess marketing that often has the same seat rebadged a number of times to be sold at a higher price at different retailers.

Baby stuff, its a bloody minefield taking advantage of anxious parents eager to do their best for the child. Thank goodness for independent reviews

      • -2

        I'll stick to Britax.

        • Not sure Britax has a convertible seat up to 8yrs old. My child outgrew the Britax Graphene and hence why I moved onto this

          • @10101010101: Britax maxi guard pro and then leave them in the harness safer than the booster

  • Brought two .. one for my partner’s sister car and one for ours .. bargain

  • I'd say this is ok as a spare car seat for very occasional or emergency use. However, ideally from a safety perspective you want to keep your kids rear-facing for as long as possible, and once forward facing, in a 6-point harness for as long as possible. You can achieve this through seats like the Britax maxi guard, Maxi Cosi Luna Smart/Pro or Infasecure Achieve range.

    • +1

These do support a proper harness and then convert to normal boosters with the normal car seat belt. My 6yr old 22kg son is still harnessed in the 5 point harness.

How do the other seats you mention compare with in terms of CREP scores? I got these primarily because I read they were narrow enough to allow you to fit 3 child seats across AND they are one of the tallest child seats that allow children to use it much longer than any others.

      • +2

The advantage of the types of seats I mentioned is that you can keep your child in a 5 point harness all the way through until they are no longer legally required to use a car seat which is much safer than using a booster with a seat belt. However, with this Aldi seat you're going to have to do the seat belt/booster configuration at some point.

I don't give much weight to the CREP scores for many reasons and one of those is because they rate the same seats with different fabrics completely different scores. They also have categories that aren’t comparable- they’d rate a seat belt booster higher than an extended harnessing seat and people will assume that having their child in a seat belt booster is safer than a harness. You just can’t compare the two.

        • CREP scores = CRAP scores

    • +1

Except sometimes your kid is just going to scream their head off, the longest time any friends in our parent group kept their kid rear facing was 6 months 😂 we're all wondering why we bothered…… sigh

      • It depends a lot on their comfort and your car/seat combo, but our kids were almost 3 before they front-faced. A big mirror for their headrest helped.

  • -4

I still think it’s ridiculous that we have to have kids in these things until 8yo.. but hey democracy

  • +1

    Do booster seats have ISOfix?

I'd go for one with that if possible. Running straps sucks.

    • Not as I know of.
ISOFIX is only for rear facing down here, from what I know.

    • +2

ISOfix is not suited to the weight of seats for over 4yo. As these are designed to be used up to 8yo, they dont have it.

  • The manual rethread is a no from me

  • Can this be used from birth ?

  • +1

Seat is reduced to $79.99 tomorrow. Discounted by $50

Aldi have advised store management customers can return and repurchase at new price.

    • Wow that would be a sweet deal! Do we have to physically take the seats back for a reduction or just the receipt would do ?

      • +1

From the wording they provided us store managers I'd assume they would want the item back into the store to process the refund. Personally I'd just process it with only the receipt.

"Some of these items are less them 4 weeks since ON SALE DATE, therefore stores can process refunds and resell at reduced price if customer wishes to repurchase"

The idea of this clearance is to clear space in the store warehouses.

I've been told this reduction is nationally(also mentioned on aldi FB page) however the memo for this reduction is still listed as a regional reduction.

        • Thanks for posting this, I’ll give it a shot tomm.

          • @whypaymo: Goodluck mate, sorry if you drag it out for nothing and get a karan manager

            • @MrrMagic: Still worth giving it a shot, I have 2 that are still in box so might as well :)
