  • I assuming these aren't compatible with the rackit 1000 kits. I have a bunch in the garage would be good to just add-on to the existing racking.

    • No, had the Rackit and not compatible with this

    • Never seen a rackit deal

  • +1

Damn got these for 282 last week, does anyone know if Bunnings will refund the difference?

    • +74

If they don't - buy another one and return the new one with the old receipt.

      This is the way

    • +2

Or return the new one with the old receipt.

      That is another way.

      • +1

        lol fixed

      • That is another way indeed

  • Great price for solid unit. Will pick up another.

    • +22

No you won't. You're talking about way over 90 kilo.

      • +3

Impoze is jacked… His very imposing

  • +13

I would Dynabolt it to the wall if it's loaded up with a ton of stuff, in case a toddler climbs up the shelves

    • -1

Bolt them if they weren't loaded with a ton of stuff AND if they were… It's probably in the installation manual
      Lol

      Two 25kg toddlers vs 1000-2500kg?

Sounds like my in-laws who bump my nephew's heads when taking them out of the car but insist on helmets when going on a scooter

    • I'm not very handy. Any instructions on what I need to buy and where to secure it (on the item).

I can find the stud etc to secure it to.

  • +9

Get a rubber mallet to bang these in place. Makes the job way easier

    • Yes, I just used a short length of 90x45 framing timber to knock all mine together.

    • +1

I prefer a dead blow hammer for this kind of job.

      • +1

Definitely better, but you can get a rubber mallet for like $1 at bunnings

        • Haha, yeah a DB isn't the cheapest, but it's hard to go back once you've used one.

          • +1

@happykamper: I used a dead blow on the first rack i put together and it just cut up the face of it. I've put together 8 of these racks and just used the same piece of wood to knock them all together.

  • +1

Are the up rights on this thing 1 piece on metal?

    • +1

      Yes

  • +5

I have 2 of these and can recommend as reasonably heavy duty, uprights are one piece thus the box is long/wide.

  • I guess it’s not good for storing bottles of wine as no flat bottom?

    • +3

      Put wine in boxes

Boxes are free from Dan Murphy

  • Just tried to click on the deal, an error occurred, 3 times :(

  • doesn't support click and collect, have to go to store or delivery.

    • Thanks, just bought one in the store.

  • +2

Thanks OP, bought 2 with delivery. Finally getting my garage sorted after moving in for 2 years.

  • +2

Highly recommend these, have taken mine apart and put back together after moving twice, still as solid as the firs titme. Use a rubber mallet to save your hands and ears.

  • +9

Looks to be in response to a similar item
    at Aldi
    https://www.aldi.com.au/en/special-buys/special-buys-sat-6-a…

    • +2

It's it's like the previous times Aldi sells these types of shelves, the Bunnings ones are far superior.

Less sharp edges and easier to assemble.

    • +4

yep, probably steel not as thick as the Bunnings one but if you can wait for store manager to drop price it may be worth it. Few years ago my local one wrote these off for $75 a pop and I filled my garage's side walls with them. I wouldn't buy it at full price tho.

    • How long do Bunnings usually run these price matches for? Did the Aldi sale on this item just start Saturday?

    • Bunnings ones are way better.

  • Thanks got 2. Been waiting on a good deal

  • Been on the look out for these! Ordered 2.

  • Been this price for a few days now. Thought this was usual price when i saw it

  • Thanks OP. Just finished building a shed on the weekend and was about to start looking for a good shelve.

  • Has anyone use these shelves outdoor?

    • +1

I haven't personally but if you check specifications, it states … Outdoor Use = NO

    • +1

I was thinking the same thing for my numerous potted plants in my backyard

      • I guess it need to be galvanised otherwise it will corrode in no time.

    • Big NO
Hit everything with gal spray if you're thinking about it

      • Any gal spray that you know of?

  • +1

Costco had the 1000kg a shelf whalen ones on special for $299 at Costco North Lakes. Much better quality

The prices on all this shelving has increased significantly due to higher steel prices and freight issues.

    • +2

These are still very good for this price. I put one together the other day, solid and it will easily handle anything i could ever need to store. Very easy to assemble too.

    • +1

Yea, I've seen it as well. Looks sturdy. I'm planning to use it as a rack for aquarium tanks

  • The weight rating on these is complete rubbish. I'll stick with rackit

    • 625kg not enough??

What's the equivalent rackit set up? The crap shelf I have is MDF and the bottom shelf support twisted and folded when putting a fairly heavy (but still one handed) toolbox on there.

Over cheap crap that doesn't last

  • 4th tier? This must be an elite item.

  • Anyone know if you can put the top shelf lower down, rather than right at the top?

We have a shed that is 1.9m high and the top shelf would be better utilised lower down.

    • +1

Yes you can. With these shelves, you can adjust all the shelves to any height. Hence the holes on the poles.

Note, the pole's height cannot be adjusted.

      • Thanks for confirming. I thought you would be able to, but wanted to be sure before purchasing.

      • Anything is adjustable with an angle grinder

  • Bought one, thanks op

  • Looking at dimensions does this fit in a car, or are most getting this delivered? I have a Suzuki swift!

    • Do you have 1.8m of space with the back seats folded down? May be with the passenger seat flat, you can get it in.

      • I just fit this in a mitsubishi lancer seat sedan folded but it was basically to the bottom of the boot up to the front left seat completely pushed forward. No wiggle room

If your front seat can go completely flat or you can remove it lol. Probably. If not. I highly doubt it.

        • Thanks! Decided to go with delivery, it's a flat rate regardless of order quantity.

  • Hi guys, bunning also sells Montgomery 1830 x 910 x 410mm 5 Tier Shelving Unit@$48, just wondering if I can put 2*48=96 together and still do the job? (96<178), what do you think?

    • The Montgomery is good for the money. This has the benefit of:
      1. Deeper 540 > 410
      2. Wire over MDF. MDF will sag and get gross if not taken care of.
      3. Can hold longer stuff easily since there won't be a bar in the middle.

The Montgomery does have an extra shelf though…
If you don't see any benefit in the 3 things above and can benefit from the extra shelf, just go 2 of the Montgomery.

      • Tthanks for the reply and really good feedback. Thinking of transportation 1.8m wouldn't fit in my car I'll have to go with Montgomery I guess

        • not sure if Montgonery is on sale or just normal price. maybe I should wait a bit longer

          • @eric111111: Yeah, it's standard price. It does occasionally go on sale if Aldi has a similar item. But not much cheaper.

  • I suggest any buyers online to use credit card.

I used PayPal last night. They took money (into PayPal) but it didn't confirm. Didn't make an order for me. Nada. Called up. They need to refund me via PayPal and I just went in store today to pickup in store instead (so paid twice for now til refund)

I wasn't sure I'd get the time today for a pickup hence the original purchase online shipped to my parents (due to upcoming surgery I won't be able to drive remainder of the week hence the rush).

  • Does anyone have one of these and converted into a bench?

Wondering about the stability if you installed the lower shelf 30-50cm off the ground (for unobstructed feet access) and the remaining shelves at bench height and above / not installed. Secure a timber top onto a shelf and it's quite a cheap small format workbench.

    • The actual pinnacle work bench looks absolutely crap, with MDF shelf. I'm in the market for a quality work bench, but not sure Bunnings is the place.

  • +1

Went to bunnings to buy this, walked out with the rackit 1000kg starter kit for $315. Waaay better quality.

    • Does the rackit have diagonal bracing on the uprights?

    • Do you have a product link?

Our local store doesn't anything on display, so hard to know the quality and durability.
I'm fed up with cheap crap and would rather pay for quality.
Considering the normal price is $278, $315 doesn't seem that much more, if it's alot better

      • +1

Come on! Google "rackit 1000kg starter kit", took 2 seconds.

        • Page Not Found
          Sorry, we hit a snag!
          Try one of these options:
          Go to Bunnings Home

Your Browser must be better than mine….

  • Purchased two of these today… Very easy to build even for a novice (Crap Handyman) such as myself… Cleaned my garage up nicely… Thanks OP

  • +1

I wouldn't buy these pinnacle products due to poor thickness of frame. It would be easy to bend if being hit or load exceeded.

RackIT is way to go or buy 2nd hand industrial shelves from Gumtree or FB marketplace.

  • Ordered two, thanks OP!

  • Bought one. Looking for a place to put it in the shed now

  • Would anyone be able to comment on whether these are any better (or not) to the ones advertised all over Facebook marketplace? e.g. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/477443560816727/?r…

    • That's what I've been wondering too

    • +1

well these facebook ones have cross bracing on the side if you value that, but im sure the return policy with bunnings would be much easier no questions asked if you didnt like it

  • had plenty at my local bunnings

    • which bunnings is your local, my local is OOS thanks

  • +1

So which one is better quality? Pinnacle or Rackit?

    • +1

i think people are saying the rackit system is better quality, however they never go on sale and for $40 extra you can pick up two of these pinnacle sets instead which might be worth while

      • @smeng. I picked up two & was super impressed with their stability. I ended up going back for a 3rd one as we have so much stuff that needed shelving.

I've never tried the Rackit but to get two Pinnacles for the price of one Rackit was the way to go for me.

        • +1

i agree with you there, i am going to pick up 2x units after work tonight because my local branch was out of stock

    • Rack It or 2nd hand heavy industrial shelves.
