Great set from Wera retails normally well over $300 - not an all time low price ($120) but an excellent buy at this price.

Personally, If I was going to buy ANY sort of socket set I'd be looking at a different brand. Wera look great but aside from that they don't really feel much better to use than any other good quality brand. I purchased a gearwrench 83066 socket set about a year ago for ~$200 and it's amazing. Obviously there are people who have been snapping up Wera for their collections, but even so - if you are in the market for tools please do some research before buying these. Sydney tools currently has this great starter set (although not the 120XP) on sale for $99 shipped.

Have to 100% agree I have all wera screwdrivers sets well over 3ks worth n they are quality kit for my electronics business but socket sets ain't that good especially at this price remember it's 1/4 inch set any serious socket work look at 3/8 to 1/2 plenty of sets out there good quality much cheaper

      • I'd be tempted to advise people to get a premium ratcheting handle; I've used Snap-On and the difference is night and day, from the angle needed to get onto the next tooth, to the smoothness and the overall quality.

        • Sure but this is only 1/4 drive

      Seconded Gearwrench. Great value products.

    • If you're buying gearwrench get the ratchets with more teeth.

There is a quality difference between them and the more teeth is a better experience anyway

Depends on what you are doing but in general I agree. As above I have the 83066 which is the 120XP (120 teeth) and they are fantastic. The set I linked isn't the 120XP…

        HOWEVER

84 teeth is good in my view.

    • True Wera isn't great value for money, but the $99 Gearwrench set is 12 point which i'm not a fan of. The Toolpro 6 point sets are fantastic for the price, they have held up just as good as my Sidchrome, Wera, KingChrome sets.

  • Those ugly arse wera grips are not aesthetically pleasing.

    • Yeah not a fan of those grips. Waiting for a deal on the Joker spanners, much better looking.

If you’re after a 1/4 zyklop speed kit these might be of better values (part of buy 2 get 15% off):

26 Piece socket set $129 or $109 when paired with a second item

35 Piece socket and VDE screwdriver kit (must select Amazon UK seller, $177 or $150 when paired with second item

Second item is from this list, plenty of other Wera or Knipex stuff, if nothing else tickles your fancy just pair it with this $1.75 card.

I have used bahco sockets at work as an electrican for a while and I find the kits to be really useful and good value. They also have cases that hold a lot of the sockets and tools in place if you plan on moving it anywhere.

I have all wera VDE screwdrivers for work and I believe the laser tip ones are the best on the market but the price for this zyklop stuff is just way too high.

    • My old man uses Bahco (and his old stuff from the 80's is all Sidchrome from memory) and it's a great piece of kit. I ended up going Gearwrench because of the lower price and I'm very happy.

There are a lot of overlapping in hex bit sizes between 1/4 and 3/8 as well as 3/8 and 1/2..

So for Zyklop sets it might be better to get 1/4 and 1/2 sets only.

  • Really thought this is a torque wrench, lol, till I read the description…XD

This isn't a bargain price. This is standard pricing if not more expensive than usual from Amazon.
