I have one and it's great. I converted mine to use ozito batteries though

    • Oh Chinese Makita clone.

I feel like, with how dangerous angle grinders are, cheaping out on one probably isn't the best idea?

      • Probably ok for small diy jobs if you already have a Makita battery. But then again if you have that battery you probably wouldn’t buy cheap skins?

        • Angle grinders already seem overrepresented in accidents. I personally wouldn't want to risk an especially cheap one.

@Rail Rider95: Interesting, though I am not sure cheap angle grinders are necessarily the cause of such accidents…

Usually the clones lack power and are less responsive to start up based on what I’ve seen on YouTube

If you intend on cutting hard material like masonry, concrete, and tiles then I would get the Makita if you already have their battery

      • Nah it performs better than the ozito angle grinder I have.

        Yes it's a clone, but it's a good one.

    • The clones are quite an attractive proposition when you look at the lack of features at the low end (but not cheap) makita grinders.

You need to spend around $400 to get anything from makita that can run at different speeds. I think they all should do this so they can be used for flap sanding or buffing not just grinding. You can get a 4 speed brushless clone for about $60. So for me it's either $400 for makita or $60 for a clone.

Does the one you recommend have different speeds? The images say "Gear adjustment".

      • Yeah it has speed adjustment. It works oddly though. It's not a slow medium fast. It's like medium slow fast. I.e. non sequential order.

Price beat at Bunnings, just got it for $204 :) thanks 👍

    • Same here. They tried to wiggle out of it, but after showing them their own price beat policy, they did it straight away.
