  • Still $97 for some leggings + $8 for shipping. Too rich for me :)

  • What's the bargain.
Give us some examples of the savings?

Everything detailed on the website, simply click the link. Why neg?

      • Check the guidelines: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:deal_posting_guideline…

Post a single item as a bargain. This is just general advertising of a sale. Yes, it's June, I wonder how many places will be having a stocktake sale at 50% off!!!

Also, when picking a title, try and include a description of the item. "Linebreak" tells me nothing, try including "compression garments" in the description: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:deal_posting_guideline… and http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:title_guidelines

I'm guessing "HTC One X" doesn't tell you anything either? (It's a mobile phone)

        • -1

Although I know what HTC is, One X is meaningless to me (I'm not a phone junkie). What's wrong with writing HTC One X mobile phone? The point is, titles of posted deals are supposed to be self explanatory, I shouldn't have to click on one just to find out what it is about. I've never heard of Linebreak before, and the OP should assume readers have no idea what he is talking about and post a meaningful description. It's not hard really — there are a bunch of guidelines in the wiki, and when posting the deal there are a bunch of hints and reminders in the box where you type the title! Laziness in my opinion. It just needed a couple of words more to describe the product (leaving aside I don't think it is an appropriate bargain, rather it is non-specific advertising of a stocktake sale). Here is an example of a better post for a similar product: Skins Clearance Sales - Men's Compression Sleeveless Top $19.95 +More limited sizes http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/71303 I, like others, waste a lot of time clicking on poorly-worded links just to find out what the OP was on about, and being mostly disappointed with the offering.

        • I take exception at being branded 'lazy'. Quite the opposite. I receive emails with offers, bargains, etc and when there's a decent saving, I'll often throw a quick thread on OzB, all in the spirit of sharing. Sure, I could visit the online store, plough through all the stock listed and provide chapter and verse on how, why, when & where this is such a great bargain. But, I'm pretty bloody busy, so I'm of the opinion (maybe incorrectly) that highlighting a bargain exists and sharing with others is better than saying nothing.

I assume the multitude of other bargains I read on a daily basis where it's not crystal clear what the product actually is, are also receiving the same negative feedback?

Finally, and no I don't work for Linebreak, regardless of whether you think the products are good value at their particular price point, any discount (particularly 40% to 50%), constitutes a pretty good bargain in my eyes. So not sure I understand the "leaving aside I don't think it is an appropriate bargain, rather it is non-specific advertising of a stocktake sale" statement is all about?

        • Unless I'm mistaken, OzBargain is supposed to be about sharing a particularly attractive deal on a particular item, not general spruiking of a store or website. That is generally regarded as spam. I'd prefer not to open it up to hundreds of thousands of general postings about "20% off" or "stocktaking sale" with nothing specific mentioned. That's specifically what you did. That's why I think it is inappropriate. Also you failed to tell us what the hell "Linebreak" is in the title. Easily fixed by adding two words as I suggested. It's in the guidelines and you ignored it.

          Here's some excerpts:

Be descriptive – a title that just says “Big Sale at Myer” is much less useful than a title that says “Kids Wear 20% off Sale at Myer, Sydney CBD Only”
Post when you have a bargain and not just for advertising purposes. Generic advertisements may be removed or may make it difficult for you to post, when you have something that really should be popular.

          Be descriptive
Please check Title Guidelines on how to write descriptive title for your deals.
Please check Tagging Guidelines on how to correctly tag a deal.

Please explain clearly what the deal is about:-
State the merchant and product model, and provide a brief description if you wish.
          State the price.
State the location (city and state) if it is specific to an area.

Summarise briefly why it is a bargain - why did you buy it or consider it worth sharing? How does the price compare to elsewhere? Can you comment from personal experience on the quality of the product?

Special note: Sales, Catalogs and Stores
          People generally value their time.
If you know there is a good bargain or two in a sale, catalog or store, it's a good idea to mention one or even two bargains, in the title, and provide direct links where possible, to those items.

If there are multiple bargains in the same sale, catalog or store, it is still advisable to post once only. Then multiple items can be listed in the same posting; probably with what looks to be the best or most popular bargains at the top.

Postings that reference a sale, catalog or store but don't provide enough information to find at least one bargain, may be unpublished. Multiple postings for the same sale and/or catalog may be unwelcome and may be unpublished. Multiple postings for the one catalog and/or sale are especially unpopular if they all occur on the same day and if they all come from the same person.

So there's plenty of guidance as to what is appropriate and what is required. I'm not saying you are a lazy person, but your post was, either that or you deliberately decided to ignore the rules. Try and take away from this the criticism that your post could have been improved. It's not a personal attack. I don't think it's wrong pointing out that not everyone knows who Linebreak is or what they sell. Simply assume no-one else knows what you know, and put in a couple of extra words to clarify it.

The reason you put a specific example of a bargain in is so that people can make up their own minds about it being a bargain. 50% off tells me nothing. How do I know I could not buy the exact same compression top from Rebel Sport for $20, but Linebreak is ridiculously overpriced and sells at $200 normally? 50% off is still a ripoff. Get it?

I applaud you contributing a deal. Thanks for sharing. I'm just asking you make a bit more of an effort. Half of the deals I have to click on are badly written, I have no idea what they are on about. It results on me wasting my time. There are hundreds of other people also wasting theirs. You might be "wasting" a couple of extra seconds checking your post, but I don't think it's right wasting other people's time either. And really, have you saved any time? How long did you waste replying and defending your position?

I assume the multitude of other bargains I read on a daily basis where it's not crystal clear what the product actually is, are also receiving the same negative feedback?

ABSOLUTELY! You are not alone and I make the same criticisms on other posts, but it it is tedious trying to change the world one post at a time, especially when you are negged by trolls and kiddies for simply pointing out the rules and guidelines and complaining that their post was incomprehensible.

So not sure I understand the "leaving aside I don't think it is an appropriate bargain, rather it is non-specific advertising of a stocktake sale" statement is all about?

Yep, there were two issues, "Linebreak" needed clarification ("Linebreak Compression Garments" would suffice), and I didn't think the post was appropriate because

          • it did not reference a specific item (e.g. Mens large compression top, blue, $50 after 50% off)
          • it just said 50% off (off what? how do I know if this is a deal?)
          • I don't want to open up OzBargain to every $2 website wanting to advertise/spam their store here, without offering a specific item as a bargain.
          • at this time of the year, "Stocktake Sale" isn't sufficient justification in itself of a bargain — everyone is having a stocktake sale.

I don't hand out negs excessively. It wasn't because I didn't like your deal, it was because it didn't satisfy the rules. Others negged it too for that reason (e.g. <Yacht>. The same point has been made in other posts to other posters, by myself and other neggers.

Hopefully you understand my point of view and are mature enough to accept it.

  • Doesn't appear to be limited sizing. Nice!
