Decent offer. Cheapest all time was 17,000 points earlier in the year for Telstra Day. Equivalent to $49

  • -5

I got 2 for free from Telstra a couple of years back when they were giving away 50,000 points.

    • -2

Did you get your education for free, too?

  • Thanks OP, I got one for $22 with points. At that price it's a no brainer

    • +2

Exactly. Let Google do your thinking for you

  • +4

    Thanks OP $4 + 23600 points.

  • Why do they make Google's voice so bland compared with Alexa? Any way to make it more interesting, or sexier?

    • +8

Intelligence is what makes google sounds sexier to me. Alexa is as dumb as a rock

      • +2

        …dumb as a door knob. :P

      • I like sexy, dumb blonde. Alexa is the go. Google is indeed boring like a machine

It’s what’s on the inside that counts.

Don’t try to anthropomorphise an algorithm

I once accidentally asked google assistant if they were ugly.

The response was: "The only thing I find ugly is not treating others with kindness."

It was strange but I felt guilty after that.

Thanks OP! Ordered 1. I was on the fence about it when it was going for 35K pts, but now at 25K pts sealed the deal. Cheers :)

  • Thanks OP. Had 4K points since years ago. Finally, got to use it.

  • Any good? Reviews say it's slow but a good picture frame

    • It watches you when you sleep. Obviously to help maximise your wellness experience

  • Thanks OP

Finally something useless to use the useless points on

    • +1

That’s the spirit. Unfortunately this device may well exceed your lack of expectations

  • Thanks Op. got one

    • Only one? Everything is better in stereo

  • Missed out! :(

Try changing the colour to Charcoal.

      • I ended up being able to get one just now, thanks!

  • Cheers OP, ordered. Had 27,000 sitting in my old telstra account so a good get. I ordered also one of the grey a long time ago on some deal here; free from memory; anyway, I use it as my alarm clock beside my bed (the old clock radio). It's awesome.

  • I bought some of these over the past few days, they are great paired with the mini's around the house.

$78 @ MyDeal - Bought from here a few days ago, they had them for $88 (minus $10 signup voucher when spending $100, I got some other things to make up the $100)

$84.80 @ Mobileciti eBay store - Bought 3 a few hours ago on their ebay store with a $10 ebay voucher. Voucher valid for the purchasing the same item up to 3 times in separate transactions.

Also have Nest Mini's @$29 each from JB, Coral Red is on sale for $39 minus $10 perks voucher. I have used about 6 $10 perks vouchers over the past 3 days, picked up from same store, no questions asked.

What are you doing with all the screens? And what is your use cases for the screens plus the minis?

      • +2

That dude is obviously a hoarder and is getting ready for the great reset that all the Cryptocurrency conspiracy theorists are rambling on about. He probably keeps them in his bunker with the 2 tonnes of rice and pallets or tinned food😉

        • Well it's a long story and it all just happened, wasn't planned and just taking advantage of cheap prices. The Google eco system works very well, I have been reluctant on using it but now seems to be usable with most problems ironed out.

Shorter answer is I am giving some of them as gifts to family/friends.

1 screen in bedroom used as a clock, 3 mini speakers around the house. Connected to 8 smart lights, 2 AC plug outlets, Xbox, Samsung TV. After a few days of using them I might put another screen unit in the lounge as they are handy. All I'm doing so far is using it for lights and TV control, the nest screen auto shows controls/options for devices when you give it voice cmds which is handy. Music features are also good on the nest screen whether its streaming or playing local music files.

        • when Costco first came to Melb I bought a 20kg bag of rice that lasted over 5 years

Potentially out of stock in both colours now?

  • OOS

  • +2

I got one. What do you guys use them for?

    • +1

      Put in bedroom.. clock?

    • +1

      It's my kitchen timer

    • +1

Smart home. Connects to Chromecast and Nvidia Shield. Control your TV. Useful if you’re in another room and your kid won’t listen to you.

Alarm clock, white noise, sleep monitoring.

Setup routines, mine tells me the weather, news and then plays the radio when I get home.

    • With a few of these Nest Hubs and Nest Minis scattered around the different rooms at home, it is handy to use the Broadcast function to tell everyone "Dinner is ready!"

  • +3

Still shows stock of both colours for me.

    • +1

      Thanks, got one this time!

  • I have seen the Tp-Link Smart Wi-Fi Light Strip Multicolour on Telstra that I might use my points on.

I would like to use a motion sensor to go with it. The TP-Link one does seem to be available. does anyone know if it can use other sensors?

    • +1

Should be able to via Home Assistant but it would be a bit of work

  • I love it when people mention or link to a deal having happened before. It massively helps with fear/anxiety of missing out on a deal.

  • Nice,
not sure what I'm gonna used it for but just clicked the order button, worst come to worst I will just use it as a desk clock.

  • +1

Get this or wait 4 years until I have enough points for the bigger home max?

  • Do non on sellers still use telstra ? Customer service so incredibly no brainers . Not worth the PUA PITA .
