  • Just a comment it can be cheaper like $2 less if you buy in US eshop. although you need to purchase us eshop giftcard if your card doesn’t process foreign purchase.

    • +3

Just note that if you still have credits in Australia account means that you lose it by switching.

Best to make a separate account for US eshop

Anyone have deals on the drum controllers?

    • +4

Just missed it - Amazon had it at $99 on Wednesday!

      • Mine hasn't shipped… :/

        • Oh no!
I was lucky enough to have mine come in yesterday - kids smashed it out straight away (wife rolled her eyes)

      • +1

Can share the product link? so I can keep an eye for next price drop. Cheers

      • You're joking?! Farrrrk my life

      • Absolutely gutted to hear this now. I've had the drum on my radar for a few months now!

    • 🥁

    • This made my day

    • Thanks for sharing this one. It's fun playing this on the mobile on the go.

    • You are a legend

    • thanks,
Is it me or do you guys feel like the game is a bit blurry?
Do I need a high refresh rate monitor?
      I'm on a 60 fps monitor.

      • Yea i got the same issue. It is running at a lower frame rate. I cant get back to the setup screen after the initial setup.

I got another issue where by the yellow balloon (the one you hit it multiple times it blows and burst) doesnt work. There are some minor teething issues but such a good web game overall.

    • This link should be a deal by itself ! This is the real game on the web !

Is this worth it without the drums (i.e. using motion, touch or a controller)? Seems to be mixed opinions on it.

    • We have it on Xbox (with controller) as well as Switch (with Hori Drum), Xbox experience was really bad I'd say 2/10 you'll miss ALOT, Switch (according to my sons) 7-8 out of 10, they also like to play at our local game-arcade with the giant taiko-drum

    • +1

I bought it around this price and I'd say it's worth it if not only for the hilarious party games on it. I think you need 4 people to play them but we found them really fun after a few drinks.
Normal drumming was also decently but the motion control isn't super accurate but still fun, especially for drunk people and kids.

    • Touch is great

  • +1

My honest comment, we got bored after like 30 minutes playing of this game.

    • +1

      this is for kids or

      • -2

I feel that it may suitable for party but less depth to be explored as a game on a home game console like Switch.

It maybe more enjoyable to be played on a big arcade

        • +1

Dunno why you're getting negged - its a fair comment. Its something that works well as a party game but I cant imagine sitting there banging on my drum home alone. Given the financial impost of the game and the drums, I dunno that I would bother myself.

        • +1

Music games are not for everyone. I dont feel a neg is warranted.

Some people just enjoy playing the same song over and over again till perfection. I know i probably spent 10 hours on the song Furi Furi Nori Nori on Hard trying to get a big combo. And till this date im still trying to hold my own on Expert. To me that is depth. The game delivers different value to different gamers.

    • I bought this game and spent around an hour being absolutely useless at it. Couldn't figure out wtf was going on or how to do what was needed. I will try it again as I'm sure I'll pick it up with more time, but jeez, that was a wild ride.

      • I think at least you made a point about this game.

    • I see people in timezone spend 2hrs+ on it

  • +2

They’re releasing this version at JB $249:

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/nintendo-switch-taiko-no-…

    • +4

      +1 for local stock.
      -1 for price.

    • That is a hefty price for a single accessory that likely won't be able to be used anywhere else (I don't know anything about the game).

      • +1

Donkey Konga wasn't anywhere near this price!

        • +1

I bought my Donkey Konga from K-Mart for dirt cheap from memory.

          • +1

@Guybrush57: Haha yeah they were really clearing them out by the end

    • +1

Isn’t that just the regular Hori drum?

  • Are the Taiko drum controllers on AliExpress any good?

  • +1

Why is this Switch game in particular always advertised when it receives a discount? Plenty of other good games on the eShop go down to 80%+ off as well. Just curious.

    • +2

      There's a few reasons:
      - hard to come by physically generally, and is best with a physical drum controller that pushes up the price and rarity, so people see this and jump on it thinking it's a great deal
      - some people really, really love the game
      - rhythm games are a special type of game with a quite specific audience (outside of people picking it up because it "looks fun") so it's a common to see the fanbase trying to expand their reach

  • +1

note that the joy cons are super unreliable and drumming using motion controls will simply frustrate you. no comparison with the arcade version. your only recourse is to buy a 3rd party big drum controller and they arent cheap

    • Get those from taobao.

      • Any recommendations? I want the Taiko Force but that's like, 500USD just for the drum let alone the shipping haha…

  • +1

For those that have it already… there are some free songs (dlc) you can download from the Nintendo eshop

  • Wife has been waiting for this to go on sale for the last 6 months. Thanks OP!
