Perfect for getting lost by Qantas!

If its almost 3 kg, that's taking a lot of limit for carry-on luggae which usually is 7kg - even for international flights.
I haven't found a good alternative to just a backpack, maybe someone has a recommendation?

duffle bags usually. I bought a mushashi one from eBay (like form pharmacy king or pharmacy direct or something like that). Its still going solid strong. Well $$ spent on that duffle bag.

      Found that one

      • Thanks for this recommendation. Looks like the ebay link is not working anymore. But I get the idea what kind of bag you're talking about. I did buy something like this from ebay but the overall quality was really bad. The zip broke early, the stitching was coming out etc.

I might look for something with wheels that's lightweight and durable - can have a few clothes + a work laptop all under 10 kg; I might be asking for too much on this :D

        • Carry on limits are often only 7kg (10kg if you're lucky)

      • This is what I do. Duffle bag overhead and a messenger bag under my seat gives me plenty of lightweight storage, and no need to risk checked baggage.

      • Was it like this one?

Australian Domestic Travel cabin baggage is usually limited to 10kg (7kg international economy) and 115cm total dimensions (eg 50x35x30cm, adding each side dimension must be 115cm or less).

        • Na it was a bit different (its currently overseas with a close person) otherwise would have uploaded photo of that

    • i use AmazonBasics Carry-On Travel Backpack for all my work trips and holidays. it has been through a lot of flights and I have been using the same one for over 5 years now. i pack it to the max every time i travel.

      • I see ya Mark Rober from amazon basics

    • When you say just a backpack, have you looked into an osprey porter or farpoint? They're about 1.5kg so leaves plenty for luggage. Fits much more than any roller carryon

  • How about this brand?

    • Pierre Cardin, I'd say its a pretty good famous brand. May be more like David backham type (something not super expensive, but nor dirt cheap either)

Used to be good many many years ago and now they just licence out their name to anyone that wants to stick the name on it regardless of quality. That being said, it appears they are going to try and relaunch themselves.

  • Low quality trash with an inflated rrp to lure suckers when it goes on 'sale'. Avoid.

    No four wheels? Big NO

  • 2.9kg is fairly heavy these days.

    • Don't leave much for your actual stuff. That's why I use a backpack as a handcarry. Never had issues like being told it's oversize. Only weighed 2 times in the numerous times I had flown overseas. One was just at 7kg the other time was 8kg but they let it slide.

  • I picked one of these in the UK a few years back when we needed an emergency bag to transport some extra stuff we had purchased. Weighs virtually nothing and is holding up well so far.

  • Pierre Cardin is rolling in his grave.

  • Don't get two wheels anymore
