Even with my Fold 2 what I found useful is that you have a big screen on you available at all times such as when someone sends you a really big document/spreadsheet, or you just want to watch a video whilst waiting/holding the baby (because who carries a tablet in their pocket?).

      • -1

My mate 20x had a bigger screen compared to the fold when watching videos lol

        • Huawei is a non event so no idea why it's even mentioned

  • …but no sd card slot

    • But but its 1TB

      • +1

yeah but i want the option to exxxxxpand.

        • -1

Always one on these posts that cry about SD card and 3.5mm jack. Get over it.

  • "Preorder bonuses" Where are the free accessories they gave from the last Fold 3? Make the extra pen and standing case $10 and I'll think about it

    • The only bonus is BONUSCARE this time. I remember Samsung never offer preorder bonus on their education store.

      • +1

They are offering higher storage options at the same price as the lower one. So 2499 for the 512 instead of 2699

  • +7

Man idk, 2000 bucks for a phone? I could buy a 2006 Toyota Corolla Ascent with that sort of money.

    • +1

you can't watch Youtube with Corolla

      • You can't watch Youtube and drive Corolla at the same time anyways…

You can with a pioneer deck!

      Not with covid tax buddy.

  • +1

Maybe it's just me but I will not pay 2k for a phone

    • +1

It’s kind of a phone and a tablet in one though

    • You don't really pay for it. If I play Minecraft every day for 2 years then the phone is free

Or sometimes ask daddy and if I am good that week maybe I can get

  • How are they only offering up to $585 if trading in a fold 3 when mobile monster are offering up to 950?!

    • JB offers $700 plus $600 bonus for a Fold 3 256GB. +$50 for 512GB.

      • How about fold 2?

        • It depends on the condition. You can get an estimate here. Add $600 to the value that you get.

      • +2

        Samsung edu: $1999.20, z fold 3 trade in $585 + $200 bonus + $50 newsletter voucher = $1164.20
        Jb hifi: $2499, z fold 3 trade in $700 + $600 bonus = $1199
Samsung Australia trade in value is nuts, gonna wait for pixel fold then

        • I checked on Samsung US and found they give $1000 credit on fold 3, $300 extra credit, free case and spen besides the free upgrade. And they have massive discount on other bundles. That would be the preorder bonus I'm looking for.

  • I think I'm more looking forward to zenfone 9, but then again zenfone only has two major OS update + 2 years of security patches which is dogshit, decision decision…

  • +4

Their trade offer for z fold 3 is ridiculous. $585 and no bonus.
    Jb hi-fi is $700 + $600 bonus equalling $1300 off $2499. (Balance $1199)

  • My Z Fold 3 OEM screen protector started peeling 3 months ago, and then 2 weeks ago cracks are starting to appear in my crease…

Hopefully Telstra / Samsung will help me out, made an appointment with both on Saturday…

    • If your phone has a slight nick (i mean a small blemish) that may indicates that it may have impact (although the rest of the body is good and the screen has no bleeding, impact marks etc), good luck being honoured warranty. That's what happened to me. Rejected. The phone casing has to be immaculate to honour warranty. I will buy an Apple next round as I've had better experiences with them. Plus their battery life is absolute shocking as you have to chase a power outlet after 3 hours of use.

      • Damn. My crease is cracked and been waiting to upgrade before taking it in as they don't provide loan phones

        • My crease is cracked

Is it cracked or is the middle bit peeling? Does the screen not work at the crease?

          • +1

@eug: I don't know. If it's just the protector then I'm happy to peel it off. But if I do that and find it's the underlying screen, Samsung will probably void my warranty claim

            • @10101010101: Yeah, best to just let them replace it. I brought it to Tecworks here in Brisbane who are an official Samsung service centre. They replaced the screen protector on the spot while I waited. Took about half an hour, they said it normally takes 15 mins but the tech wasn't satisfied with the first application so he did it again.

            • +1

@10101010101: DO NOT PULL IT OFF, they will clasify it as warranty void.

You get free replacement if you bring it in.

They previously said it didn't matter, but after a couple of months of no screen protector tension of folding and unfolding will inevitably crack your screen.

See my other replies for link to photos.

              • @jerjergege: Thanks. Need to get the Fold 4 first to replace my Fold 3 then I'll get the Fold 3 protector replaced

      • Its not even like large cracks, like the glass itself is peeling, I posted photos on samsung communitiy but admins keep removing, even galaxy watch 4 and tattoos post.

        • Its not even like large cracks, like the glass itself is peeling,

Is it the glass or the screen protector in the middle? That's famous for peeling.

@eug: Telstra did not help, they will only assist if you purchase their premium care plan, which is absurdly priced.

My insurance company aparantly changed their PDS recently (When I purchased it on my old PDS, screens were covered, on the recent PDS screens are not covered and I have not been notified of this change when Westpac sold their Insurance covers to Allianz, so what the (profanity) am I paying accidental cover for?)

However luckily, Samsung originaly said they would not cover this under warranty, however sending photos and links after talking to a Samsung Service Manager, they will now be honouring the waranty and fixing it.

            https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/galaxy-z-fold-z-flip/sam…

I would be very dissapointed as a loyal samsung customer to be told no waranty if you had light scratches on the folding phone, you literally can't use cases on it or you can't use outer display.

DM me or reply if anyone else needs help.

            • @jerjergege: I called Tecworks Brisbane who are an official Samsung service centre. They replaced the screen protector for free with no hassles at all. Took about half an hour. It'd normally take 15 minutes but the tech wasn't satisfied with his first application so he did it again. I even got them to replace the front one even though it wasn't peeling.

        • I've got the same issue and they fobbed me off as I had a few marks at the bottom of the flip and said it's an impact issue. My argument was that the screen is not damaged or bleeding but they would not have it. I purchased a second hand apple iphone 10; 2 years old and several months after ownership, the phone had a couple of issues (mic, hearing & OLED burn). Apple replaced it no questions asked and I didn't even had the receipt lol. I know what my next phone will be!

I have to register the community chat regarding to access via the link you have provided. But I have an idea of what to expect (i.e many complaining about similar issues etc)
I have raised this issue with Samsung via FB messenger and they will get back to me.
I use the genuine Samsung aftermarket protective cover; like you said, it doesn't cover the flip side (where there are marks on each edge of the bottom flip)
I am going to push this further to see if I can get this covered as it seems that this is a very common issue.

              Cheers

  • Í would wait a bit. Guess they thinking the storage upsize is enough to not give more trade in. If you are going to trade in though, remember to use a burner credit card, as the trade in company Asurion will try and screw you claiming your device is not in the condition you claimed it was. Even 13 months later which happened to me and a few other people. Cancel the card after you have received your new phone and save yourself a world of headache with multiple emails to Asurion which they will ignore and then having to initiate a charge back with your bank.

    • Doesn't work i tried with the s22 ultra, they require deposit payment upfront now :/

      • How much deposit did you have to pay? Then they refund you after the device is approved?

        • $65 + device trade-in value.

edit: Only charged $1 + device trade-in value for now.

          • @etidau: Can you cancel the trade in for the $65 fee? And keep the $500 bonus?

            • +1

@[Deactivated]: Actually I've read their T&C it's $60 device non-return administration fee. It automatically included my phone trade-in value which was $5 lol. From what I read in the terms and what others here have said in old posts it's just these fees. You should be able to keep the bonus. Do it at your own risk though!

    • Can't assess the condition if I don't send it back

2 grand for a phone/computer. Current times truly feel like a different era… Who would have thought similar or higher powered laptops were going to be cheaper than smartphones.. 😬

since I can't afford to spend this much on a phone, I don't know whether I have moved into a lower economic class or whether this is a good deal.

    • +4

      2 grand for a phone/computer.

I use my phone far more frequently than my laptop so it's worth it for me personally. I wouldn't recommend it for everybody though, since everyone's use case is different. If it suits their usage then I have no qualms recommending it.

since I can't afford to spend this much on a phone, I don't know whether I have moved into a lower economic class or whether this is a good deal.

It's a good deal for what it is, much like how both $1399 for a Surface Laptop 4 and $997 for a higher-spec IdeaPad are good deals. You can't compare the price of a folding phone to the price of a traditional flat phone.

FWIW in 2007, the Nokia E90 was released. RRP was $1487. If you use the RBA's inflation calculator, that's roughly equivalent to $1,963 today. So phones at this price level isn't really a new thing.

      • "You can't compare the price of a folding phone to the price of a traditional flat phone."

Errr, yes you can, just add the price of 2x high end phones together, plus the price of a piano hinge cut to size and voila, same thing. Battery life still lasts a day, yeah?

        • +1

Do you even own fold phone? How you know fold and normal phone the same?
Technically yeah it's just phone. However the fold is much more convenient.

If you do owned it, I apologise that.

          • @asianbargain: A single screen can also be "much more convenient" it all depends on an individual use case, neither is right or wrong.
For example, I prefer a slab phone (single screen) because I want to use it with one hand while walking and I have shopping in my other hand, I don't want to have to flip it open with my other hand, because for me, that is not convenient.
I also have no interest in watching movies on a phone, whereas others might.
Again, no right or wrong, but it's good to see alternative options available and no doubt Apple will do the same in a couple of years.

            • @SimAus007: What's your favourite one handed phone

              • @AussieMark: I currently have the Pixel 6 (not the Pro as it's too big for one-handed use).
I am not loyal to any brand, this is the first Google phone I've bought and happy to always try something new.
Do you prefer flip or slab?

            • @SimAus007:

For example, I prefer a slab phone (single screen) because I want to use it with one hand while walking and I have shopping in my other hand, I don't want to have to flip it open with my other hand, because for me, that is not convenient.

I do that all the time too, and I actually find it easier with the Fold because it's narrower so my thumb can each all the way across the screen, and the body is thicker so it's really easy to grip.

The front screen works fine for one-handed for things like checking messages, reading text, browsing social media etc where you don't really need a huge screen. If there's a photo or video that you want a closer look at, you can then open the screen. YMMV depending on your usage habits of course.

      I can't believe I paid $2400 for that 486 sx-25 with 4MB of RAM and 60MB hard drive back in 1992

      Still kicking myself.

      • I hope it had a turbo button at least

      • If it still turns on and works then money well spent I would say.

  • Wow 1TB of storage for a phone is crazy good but it was bound to happen. If this phone has a micro SD card slot supporting 1TB cards then you have 2TB of storage which is a lot of photos/videos

    • Sure let's carry 2tb of photos and videos we'll watch twice

  • Where can u find that $600 jb hifi trade in bonus?
I want to trade fold 2, will there be any bonus?

    • It's on the JB website on the product page.

You'll get whatever your device is worth, plus additional bonus

    • It's on the JB product page. It will link you here where you can get an estimate. Add $600 to that.

      • Where the information about $600?

        • It's right at the top of the JB website.

          • @eug: Thank you. Do you know how long can I keep the phone or I have to send the phone right away?

            • +1

@asianbargain: What happened before was, you do the tradeup thing online, they email you a JB voucher for your phone's trade-in value along with a barcode for the extra $600 discount, you buy the phone from JB and give them the voucher and barcode, then you have one week to mail your old phone to Square Trade with the shipping label that they emailed you.

              • @eug: So you can still use the phone until the new phone arrive?

                • @asianbargain: Yup. You'll have a week with both phones to move all your data across.

    Z flip 4 256GB with Care + $1199. Also $150 bonus on trade in

  • I am using S22 ultra which has 5000mah battery but I still feel it isn't enough. I worry about the battery life of Fold 4 which has only 4400mah with two screens.

    • The battery life won't be that great but with the super fast charger all you need is a 10-15 min top up during the day to keep you going.

  • Dunno if I can commit to Samsung's ecosystem, despite how good it might be.

    • +3

You don't have to. You are committing to Android, not Samsung.

    • Prefer a gated community?

      • No, I hate iOS.

I just prefer Pixel experience over One UI.

If Samsung had the visual polish that Google has designed, I'd be all over them.

  • i got the fold 3 from last yr preorder, dont think i would upgrade but however since it came with care+ am going to get the fd4 if i swap it in?

    • you can only swap like for like with care+

      • Now because fold 3 still available but if no stock then fold 4.

  • I have a Flip 3, what would my options be for upgrading (flip 4 or fold 4) with JB-HiFi (or Samsung)? The flip 3's battery isn't great and I've heard the newer phones may have better battery (either due to bigger batteries or the more efficient snapdragon 8 gen 1).

  • +4

I bought fold 3 last year but the novelty wore after a couple of week. Here are the cons
    1. The outside screen is too narrow and too tall so to do anything useful you will want to open it up defeating the purpose of having the outside screen. The Oppo device has a much better aspect ratio and I was hoping samsung would rectify the same
    2. Its not good for media consumption - youtube videos are barely any larger than a large phone on the tablet screen. Massive black bars top and bottom
    3. Battery life is meh. My worry is if it is meh brand new, it will be worse after 6 months. And the worst part is changing the batteries on this thing is not easy and nowhere on samsung's own website does it say how much is it going to cost. Does anyone know if they offer official battery replacements?
    4. You cannot do the usual bar phone thingie - putting it in a cradle in the car, mounting it magnetically etc
    5. The camera's are mid range good not flagship good
    6. The first party cases are absolutely terrible. I dont know how a company can mess their own first party cases. For e.g. I was using the silicone case and it sticks via sticky tape on the outside screen but it covers the sim slot! So to take the sim out or swap you will have to unstick the case!
    7. I was mortally worried about using it in any situation other than ideal for e.g. at the beach - what if i drop it with it open - the sand will screw the screen for sure since no matter what samsung says we still cant fold glass and its plastic.
    8. I was also worried about the tablet screen protector coming off. People had bad experiences online with samsung.
    9. Screen failures were more common than rare and samsung support less than optimal in most cases
    10. There is no way to keep the stylus with the phone unless you buy a special case most of which are terrible.

In the end decided to sell it but atleast I did not loose any money since I bought it during one of samsung's awesome pre order deals for 60% off the RRP. I remain less than enthusiased about folding phones in general.

    • -1

Thanks for sharing your Fold 3 review. Now please review Fold 4 then repost.

      • Not falling for it again mate. Not at the current pre-order price anyway even with $500 off first day on the corporate portal for 512GB model.

      1. The outside screen is too narrow and too tall so to do anything useful you will want to open it up defeating the purpose of having the outside screen.

The outside screen on the Fold 3 is wider than the screen on the original iPhone SE (54.6mm vs 49.11mm). The iPhone SE sold really well and it didn't even have a larger inside screen, so the width didn't make it unusable.

I would also prefer a slightly wider front screen like the Oppo, although without being able to play with one it's hard to say for sure.

The Fold 4 did increase the width, it's now just 1.14mm narrower (1.5 credit cards thick) than the iPhone SE 2022. That should make typing easier.

My worry is if it is meh brand new, it will be worse after 6 months.

After a year, the battery life hasn't changed for me.

      1. You cannot do the usual bar phone thingie - putting it in a cradle in the car, mounting it magnetically etc

I use mine with a magnetic Peak Design mount in my car. It does wireless charging too. It also snaps on to the Peak Design bike mount perfectly.

      1. The camera's are mid range good not flagship good

The Fold 4 should now be just like the S22+. 50MP main camera, 3x optical zoom, and an ultrawide.

      1. The first party cases are absolutely terrible. I dont know how a company can mess their own first party cases. For e.g. I was using the silicone case and it sticks via sticky tape on the outside screen but it covers the sim slot! So to take the sim out or swap you will have to unstick the case!

I love the Aramid case. Slim and light and provides protection from scratches and dints. The cases do not stick with ordinary sticky tape, it's a reusable sticky strip. You can remove it and put it back. I have done it quite a few times with my aramid case.
I rarely ever remove my SIM though, I've only done it to try out other cases and swap the screen protector.

      1. I was mortally worried about using it in any situation other than ideal for e.g. at the beach - what if i drop it with it open - the sand will screw the screen for sure since no matter what samsung says we still cant fold glass and its plastic.

      Like this?
You might be worrying too much, although I too would be careful about using it at a beach.

      1. I was also worried about the tablet screen protector coming off. People had bad experiences online with samsung.

That could be because people usually only post comments when they have a bad experience. I had to get mine replaced a few months ago. I called Tecworks here in Brisbane, one of Samsung's service agents. They said they'll order one in and let me know when it arrives. They contacted me a few days later, I went in and they swapped it on the spot while I waited. It took about half an hour; they told me it normally takes about 15 minutes but the person doing it wasn't satisfied with the first replacement so he re-did it. I got them to replace the front one as well because why not. Both replacements were free.

      1. Screen failures were more common than rare and samsung support less than optimal in most cases

Be wary of reporting bias. Samsung sold 10 million foldables in 2021. If there was a 0.5% defect rate, that's 50,000 faulty phones out there so you will definitely hear about many of them online. What you don't hear about is the other ~9.9 million* phones that didn't experience issues.

*just an example - I don't know the actual number. The point is that people will report failures a lot more frequently than they would write a comment simply saying "My phone works fine".

      1. There is no way to keep the stylus with the phone unless you buy a special case most of which are terrible.

The Fold 4 has a new case with a swappable holder on the back. You can pop on a kickstand instead of the holder.
I personally barely ever use the stylus so it hasn't bothered me. I just keep it in my bag.

      • Screen being wider than iPhone SE makes no sense at all. It is the aspect ratio which counts. The keyboard is too narrow on the outside screen to be typing and once opened you need to use two hands. The other big problem is swiping left on the screen would trigger the "back" button even when you did not intend/want to.

I will take your word that your battery life hasnt changed after a year although I have my doubts and my experience hasnt been the same with samsung at all(approx 300 odd cycles given Fold definitely wont last more than a day on a single charge). The battery will eventually go kaput, they all do and when it does, how much will it cost to replace? Can you point me to where samsung's first party battery replacement costs are listed? If it is reasonable, this might just be the reason for me to try this form factor again.

Even if it is reusable sticky tape, it is still a terrible idea for a first party case given it sticks in first place. And it is not easy to unstick either.

The worry is not to destroy the display in full but how easy it is to scratch that display.

As for reliability, your assumption is all of those 50,000 people being vocal on forums. Anecdotally, I see less problems with a bar phone display than foldables and by a large large margin.

Considering all of that - what are the actual advantages of the form factor. Perhaps browsing websites, pictures etc but the rest of the multimedia experience is compromised due to the odd form factor.

        • +3

Screen being wider than iPhone SE makes no sense at all. It is the aspect ratio which counts. The keyboard is too narrow on the outside screen to be typing

The aspect ratio and screen size determines the width and height of the screen. Keyboards are constrained by the width of the screen. So the keyboard on the original iPhone SE is narrower than the keyboard on the Fold 3, because the screen on the iPhone is narrower than the screen on the Fold.

The other big problem is swiping left on the screen would trigger the "back" button even when you did not intend/want to.

That never even crossed my mind as being a problem. My thumb naturally rests around the centre of the screen since the phone is narrow, so all my gestures start from there. I have to deliberately bend my thumb more to reach the edge of the screen to do a back swipe gesture.

The battery will eventually go kaput, they all do and when it does, how much will it cost to replace? Can you point me to where samsung's first party battery replacement costs are listed?

I've never looked as I would likely have traded in or sold the phone within 2 years. I'm sure you can find it if you search hard enough.

Even if it is reusable sticky tape, it is still a terrible idea for a first party case given it sticks in first place. And it is not easy to unstick either.

Not sure why you're finding it such an issue. It really hasn't bothered me a single bit. It peels off easily and goes back on just fine. It hasn't gotten unstuck by itself even though I've done that several times.

The worry is not to destroy the display in full but how easy it is to scratch that display.

I have literally zero scratches on my display - because it comes with a screen protector preinstalled.

Considering all of that - what are the actual advantages of the form factor. Perhaps browsing websites, pictures etc but the rest of the multimedia experience is compromised due to the odd form factor.

You could just as well say "what are the actual advantages of a traditional phone form factor? Perhaps multimedia, but the rest of the experience like browsing, pictures etc is compromised due to the video-oriented form factor."

You have to keep in mind that not everything is made for everyone. Different people use their devices differently, so what makes sense for one person might not for another. If you watch videos a majority of the time then you might as well stick with a more traditional phone. But not everyone does - plenty of people do other things on their phones like browsing websites, reading books, remote access to other computers, etc.

The Fold isn't going to suit everyone's use cases. It doesn't mean it's a bad product, it just means other people use their phones differently to you.

          • @eug: Not to argue but that would also determine the length and width of the keys on the virtual keyboard. And that iPhone in question is designed for one handed use.

What makes you think I havent searched hard enough? Give it a try. And the resale on samsung's is terrible (if you buy it close to the full price) and why would it not be if the phone is $500 off on the first day of the pre-order.

Zero scratches? That display can be scratched using your fingernail and that screen protector is essential to the integrity of the display. Its still too fragile compared to a bar phone.

I did not say it was a bad product, its poorly thought out and implemented in order to be the first one out of the blocks. Imagine the press coverage if Apple launched a phone which could not even last a single day with the reviewers (the original fold launch) or exploded (some note).

That said, I can see the appeal of the phone if it suits your use case. My only use case was to see what advantages would a big screen bring and although there are a few, the disadvantages and compromises far outweigh the pro's. And my review is for the phone at 60% off its RRP. At full price there is no justification for how many compromises there are.

Not to argue but that would also determine the length and width of the keys on the virtual keyboard.

Isn't length and width of the keyboard the same thing? Do you mean height?
The entire iPhone screen fits within the Fold 3's front screen with extra height to spare, so when you said the Fold 3 is too narrow to do anything useful on, you're saying the top-selling iPhone for its time with its narrower screen was even less useful. But it sold so well; evidently the narrow width really isn't that big an issue.

And that iPhone in question is designed for one handed use.

I can see why - I find the Fold 3 easier to use one-handed than my previous phones because it's narrower thus easier to grip and reach across with my thumb.

What makes you think I havent searched hard enough? Give it a try.

Got it within a minute. The Fold 3 has two batteries, replacement cost is $110 each, $220 for both. I called TecWorks Brisbane. Yes they are an official service centre, that's where I got my screen protector replaced for free.

              Zero scratches?

Yes. 100% zero scratches on the screen.

That display can be scratched using your fingernail

Are you confusing the screen protector with the screen?

and that screen protector is essential to the integrity of the display.

That was the case with the first generation Fold three years ago. That changed two years ago when the Fold 2 came out. The screen protector is not part of the screen.

Its still too fragile compared to a bar phone.

For you, perhaps. Personally I am able to resist digging my fingernails into my screen protector. :)

I did not say it was a bad product, its poorly thought out and implemented in order to be the first one out of the blocks. Imagine the press coverage if Apple launched a phone which could not even last a single day with the reviewers (the original fold launch) or exploded (some note).

Yeah, Apple would never release a half-baked product. Like Apple Maps - I'm sure that was perfect when they released it.

Fortunately both companies learned from their mistakes and have improved their products tremendously.

My only use case was to see what advantages would a big screen bring and although there are a few, the disadvantages and compromises far outweigh the pro's.

Yes. If the phone doesn't suit your use case, the disadvantages outweighs the pros.
If the phone suits your use case, the pros outweighs the disadvantages.

They seem to be selling well for such an expensive phone, so evidently there are quite a few people out there who feel the pros outweighs the disadvantages.

The price is a big disadvantage to many people, but there are also many people who don't find the price an issue - it's all relative.

Imagine how many more people would buy it if it cost the same as an S22+.

              • @eug: I am not sure how big your hands are but Fold is not a phone to be used one handed. The iPhone on the other hand was and there in lies the difference.

Thanks. Do they warrant the phone with the repair to the same degree as a new phone?

No its still the case —> https://www.xda-developers.com/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-3-remov…

Half baked software is not even in the same league as half baked hardware. Its like saying having an infotainment glitch in a car is the same as brakes failing due to bad design. No they are not the same.

If they were selling well, samsung wont be discounting them to the tune of $500 on day 1 pre-orders. That should really tell you what samsung thinks of the pricing and the worth of the phone never mind the RRP. Second, they are selling well due to heavy discounting. I for example would not have been considered my fold 3 at $2k, at $1300 which is the price of a iPhone 13, I can give it a chance and I still sold it by the way.

This is more interesting than Fold 4 for example —> https://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_mix_fold_2_announced-news-55…

                • @dealsucker:

I am not sure how big your hands are but Fold is not a phone to be used one handed.

The reason they put a screen on the front is so you can use it one-handed for quick tasks.

Do they warrant the phone with the repair to the same degree as a new phone?

I didn't ask but being an official Samsung service centre I'm sure the warranty will be as good as can be.

                  No its still the case

That article was published before the Fold 3 was even launched. They just read the startup screen and decided to write a whole article about it to bring in the clicks.

Samsung themselves publishes instructions on how to remove the screen protector.

They don't recommend it as the ultra-thin glass is nowhere as scratch-resistant as non-bendy glass, but some people want to install their own screen protector so they might as well explain how to remove it.

Here are comments from people who have removed it themselves.

Half baked software is not even in the same league as half baked hardware.

You were talking about the press coverage that would result if Apple released a product that was poorly thought-out and implemented. They did, and the press coverage was brutal, just like it was with the original Fold. It was so terrible that Tim Cook published a public apology and even recommended alternatives like Google Maps. So yes, Apple makes mistakes too.

Samsung definitely did rush it out of the door, but that was 4 generations ago. I'm not sure why you think the current Fold 4 is anything like the original Fold.

If they were selling well, samsung wont be discounting them to the tune of $500 on day 1 pre-orders.

The education price has always been discounted. The Fold 3 was $1999.20 as well. You won't be able to buy it from a normal store for $1999.20 for a while.

Second, they are selling well due to heavy discounting.

Wait, so are they selling well or are they not selling well?

Price is always a factor. There's no denying that the Fold is an expensive phone. If it was the same price as an S22+ they would probably sell far more.

That shows that the issue isn't the phone's design - it's the price. If it was more affordable, more people would buy it.

But just like how there are plenty of people who don't mind spending $2,220 on an iPhone 12 Pro Max, there are also plenty of people who don't mind spending $1999 on a unique folding phone. Neither one of those phones will make sense to everybody, but there's definitely a market out there.

This is more interesting than Fold 4 for example

It's definitely interesting, but what makes it more interesting?

I've been a note user forever. I was really hoping they could find a place for the Stylus in the phone body. Pity as I had pretty much made my mind up on this.

Looks like the s23 ultra will be my next phone

I keep a stylus in my body
      Happy to share

      • how?

  • I'll wait for Oppo Find X6 Pro.

What is the historical low for Fold 3 ? $1000?

    • $1000? no way.

Maybe like $1600? at best. And this would be after boosted trade-ins.

Someone with EPP account may have better knowledge though
