These short dated ones taste very flat.

Surely this stuff will outlive humanity and still be drinkable as the sun dies and swallows the earth?

The sweetener breaks down over time. Aspartame has a half-life of 300 days at a pH 4.3. I mean it's probably still safe to drink afterwards but the taste will change significantly.

    • It takes time to taste like a 82 Lafite.

  • All gone!!

I'd love to know how amazon are storing these — I've had bundaberg ginger beer, red bull, coke, coke zero, various fever tree mixers and most recently strange love tonics and every one feels flat. surely I'm not that unlucky? meanwhile coles/woolies/costco all have what I suspect is similar warehousing/distribution facilities and their gear always tastes top notch and as expected.

Maybe heat is also a factor?
Cole and Woolworths probably store everything in climate controlled warehouses as they specialise in groceries. Amazon probably store stuff in tin sheds

    • They freeze them to keep them fresh.

  • Just got some, maybe restocked?

  • available again 27 remain

  • Yuck, short dated coke no sugar loses its "sweetness"

$2.00 / l, still cheaper to buy a bottle from Woolies

  • Buy now think later?

    Back to $8 or $7.2 s&s now

  • $2 per 250ml can seems very expensive even if it were long dated.
When Coles or Woolies have the normal 385ml cans on sale which is every week, aren’t they around 70c per can?

    • How do you get $2 per can?

    • Before the wholesale price increase this year and if you buy from a state that doesn't have a container deposit scheme maybe.

These days the special price is around 83-85c a can for 375ml at least in act/nsw.

      Few things:
      - They were 50c each
      - They are now $1 each
      - Normal cans are 375ml
      - Of course you'll save buying in bulk (24pk vs 8pk) and volume (mL/L per can or bottle).
      - These can go on sale cheaper per can than the 375ml variant.
