  • This deal blows

  • how do these compare to petrol blowers?

    • The best of the battery mowers is equivalent to an average petrol when I was looking at upgrading from my old masport

      Favorably, depending on your needs.
Want to blow down your carport before you lay under the car to do some work? Or remove some leaves from a long driveway? Ideal.
Are those leaves from a gumtree that usually includes a short section of heavy stick along with it? Less ideal.

These types are WAY better than the little 'snail' looking ones Ryobi include in various bundles though.

I bought this unit from Bunnings about a year ago. Goes well although produces less air than a similar sized 240V GMC model I had for many years. Overall I'm happy with the unit as it covers my need although would prefer a higher overall air output. Wife finds the weight of the unit is fine for her to use.

Brushless models available in the Ryobi range may be more efficient although cost is higher

      This is Brushless.

If yours isn't, and if the motor is 1:1 sized; this should be more powerful than your experiences too.

      • Thanks my mistake. It should be a better option than mine.

  • No experience with this unit. But the brushless battery jet blowers have heaps of power, especially if you’re using it for home use.

The difference I’ve noticed with the high powered battery ones is that the opening is more narrow. So you’d get enough power, but not over as wide of an area. I’d imagine for most blowing lawns or footpaths it won’t be an issue.

  • Ive been looking at this one, thanks for sharing, shame the reviews slam it so much

  • Going to pull the trigger on this deal. I’ve currently got the non brushed and always had my eye on this brushless one. Hopefully the difference is there. Thanks OP

Is there any truth to this critical review?

This leaf blower fails at every hurdle of ease of use, ergonomic design, fit for purpose, health and safety, logic, capability and customer satisfaction. Without a battery pack the blower, when balanced has a tendency for the blower tube to point slightly up (at best it hangs level) When a battery is attached the blower tube points skyward and this is exacerbated when we use our 9.0 AH battery (which is heavier). You must constantly force the blower to point to the ground, causing considerable strain on forearm, wrist and hand (and as I later found, shoulder and neck as well). Added to this the operation of the unit is controlled by a trigger (not on/off switch). So while you are fighting to keep the thing pointing down you also have to hold the trigger on – causing further stress on said hand, wrist and forearm etc! And while all the above is distressing and disappointing these feelings are intensified to the extreme by the fact the blower DOESN’T WORK. Even using the turbo button it has difficulty blowing anything (no matter how small or light). If the leaves are at all wet they barely move at all. And when I tried to use it to blow grass clippings (that were reasonably dry) off the driveway it only moved a small fraction and bigger clumps didn’t move at all. I will be returning this very disappointing piece of equipment!

    • Can't speak for the blowing bit, but I don't know why you'd bother using a 9ah battery on these. 2.5 is enough for most tasks, 5 tops.

OK, looks like it's shit on normal mode, so you have to use Turbo which drains the battery quickly.

  • We have this one currently, wondering if it's worth upgrading? https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-one-18v-cordless-garden-bl…

    • Heaps more powerful then what you currently using. So if you finding yours not cutting it then worth the upgrade

  • Can you use a 36V battery pack on these instead of 18V?

    • Nope

    • Not without connector modifications and one hell of an amazing motor heatsink.

Same sort of mods as people who overvolt powerwheels toy cars.

  • Bought one! Thanks!

  • The design of these are truly horrible.. Just like the review above, these are unbalanced and cause incredible arm strain, and are not suitable for more than a few minutes of use.

A shame considering they're much more powerful and CRAZY quiet compared to https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-one-18v-cordless-garden-bl…

  • Reviews had me hold off on buying and now seems to be pulled from Bunnings site. Ryobi still has it up on their site as a new product, which is odd.

Seems there is a newer 450CFM model out in the US so I assume it was a clearance, despite what Ryobi says.
