Where is the link to the 2015 Pro for $319 ?

it's like they're giving us a choice with "or"

        That's how I read it.

    • Hi jv. Thank you for your comments. I've updated the listing to make it more clear.

Based on how apple has started to switch production on their products to proprietary cpu/gpu, I think older intel based apple products may not get updates in the future.

Besides, the chips on these laptops are older generation intel chips.

To each their own but do your research before you buy.

To each their own but do your research before you buy.

      and then consider the prices.

If you're shopping ten year old used laptops I don't think updates and support are on the "must-haves" list.

Don't get, why people downvoted you instead to thanks for advice?

    • Hi Krad3r. Yes, Apple love cutting their products off from future updates. They do this every year. Each MacBook is loaded with the latest macOS it will run. These MacBooks are not for anyone who wants to stay up to date with new macOS releases. It is good for you to point this out and I've updated the listing to include the macOS versions. That being said, many people like to stick with older macOS versions anyway so this isn't a huge deal for all.

    • They will run Linux happily but obviously modern ms office support is still non existent, purely now because of ms

    • They are actually not getting updated anymore now.

    FYI:
Although the 2015 MacBook Pro can run the current macOS (v12 Monterey), they will not be upgradeable to the upcoming v13, Ventura.
The Mid 2013 MacBook Air presently available here is listed by Apple as 'Obsolete', and will only run macOS v11, Big Sur.

    • Hi tyrotex. Thank you for your comments. I've updated the listing to show the latest macOS each model will run. Yes, you are correct regarding the 2015 releases. Although Apple was still manufacturing many of the 2015 releases in 2018, they will not be eligible for Ventura. That being said, many people like to stick with older macOS versions so this isn't a huge deal for all. We find the 2015 still popular as they're such a joy to use and they were the last model before the infamous butterfly keyboards 2016-19.

Was looking at an Air to run ChromeOS Flex, but none for $319. :P
(Worred about battery life anyway, and "healthy" doesn't mean a lot.)

    • Hi Limbot. Thank you for your comments. I've updated the listing in an attempt to make it more clear regarding the range currently available. 80% of original capacity is our minimum requirement for healthy. I can ensure you're allocated one with a particularly good battery (pop a reminder in the Comments box if you decide to order), though yes the Air are from $389.

10 year old hardware is pushing things quite a bit, particularly for Apple hardware.

Unless you want an expensive conversation piece for your coffee table, I'd hard pass on this. But if you were interested in value for money, you probably wouldn't be look at Macbooks to begin with.

    • Hi kapone. Thank you for your comments. Yes, Apple wouldn't win any awards for their MacBook affordability and they hold their value well even when they're used. People love them for their ease of use. In our experience they have plenty of life in them even at that age for general use such as web browsing, streaming and student/office use. I do not recommend them for the latest games, but then I wouldn't recommend any laptop for that.

I don't see how useful a macbook from 2012 is nowadays. I think there are better alternatives out there. Pass.

    • Hi OzBoganYeah. Yes, the 2013+ are worth the extra. That being said, our 2012 are upgraded to SSD so they still boot fast and are responsive to use. I wouldn't recommend them for the latest games, but they're great for general use like web browsing, streaming and student/office documents.

    • You know, I used to think a computer was just a way of performing task A to task B — and on weekends, task C — but that was the old me. That man died the moment I laid my eyes on the 2012 Apple MacBook Pro 13.
Holy jumpin' Caesar's catfish! My Apple badge has been stolen! Awwww, that's how people know it's an Apple. What's the point of having an Apple if you can't show it off.

      • :D !

I'd probs only buy one for movies and some net surfing….

    • Hi Lz ShifTy. Yes, they are great for movies, net surfing and general student/office use.

I'm guessing a 10 year old laptop isn't going to have hardware decoding for modern video codecs. I would think a 10 year old laptop is almost e-waste but apple hardware seems to hold its market value due to the perception of brand quality.

      • I use a 2015 Air. Still runs everything perfectly.

Work give me a new Stinkpad (or equivalent) every year. Absolute rubbish in every way compared to the Air.

Always thought Apple fan boys were just yuppy snobs.. I'm converted. Battery life is amazing for its age.

Did get offered a new MacBook, but it's too small and I prefer actual ports to dongles.

        • Thinkpad! That’s harsh!

        • +1

Hi tunzafun001. You are spot on. They handle general use with absolute ease. You are wise to stick with it. The A1466 unibody Airs are so good and they last so well. They even survive high school students!

        • +1

This is blatant fanboyism aka erroneous perceived brand quality. I'd like to see proof that the hardware has a better than average build quality. No amount of anecdotes are convincing without the stats to backup claims that it's superior. MacOS is fine, good in some ways, shitty in others.
As an example of how silly such an anecdote is, I have an el-cheapo toshiba i3 laptop from 2012 that cost $350 new that still runs desktop programs "fine" with linux+xfce installed.
Conversely, my circa 2013 macbook cooked its battery controller and apparently needed an entire motherboard replacement to repair it, after only a few years of use.
Further, until apple went ARM, they were literally just commodity PC hardware - intel cpus, regular ddr, etc. One might argue the drivers are better, but there are rock solid drivers for plenty of hardware for windows, linux, and bsds. If you want to confine yourself to mac hardware for the drivers, you could simply restrict your PC parts to those with the driver support youre after. This is common for people that don't run windows, eg buying intel wifi chips or intel/amd graphics.

  • Do these have new batteries? Most would be dead by now.

    • +1

Hi Cyb3rGlitch. We ensure the batteries have at least 80% of their original capacity as an absolute minimum.
If less than this, they are replaced. They are all working well and have plenty of life left in them.
