  • It looks like the SSD is not upgradable? 256GB would be ideal.

    • Only on the 7+ or 8.

    • They have a micro sd slot if that works for you.

It's not for data though. To have Windows and office are nearly 40-50gb

Do these come with LTE 4G?

I have a Surface pro 4 from many years ago and have used it for my work. Its great for what it is but it is not a laptop replacement, literally. You cannot use it at awkward angles like you would a laptop, esp when you are using it without a flat surface to put it on, i.e. the Surface needs a surface, just as a laptop is happy on your lap ;)
The screen is beautiful (bright bit glossy), the pen is good for notes and pdf comments and all that but the battery is dead, once dead. You can almost not replace anything in this, incl the battery.
    My 2 cents.

"Surface needs a surface, just as a laptop is happy on your lap"

lol, you win. I agree 100%

I tried to use my surface while lying on my bed and it just too hard unless you use it like a tablet

    Thanks, bought one. 👍

Dont need it, but for the price, it's better than an entry grade tablet.

  • This would be a great machine to install ChromeOS Flex on and see how it does. Will only sip battery and have a touch screen with stylus. I hope someone can do it and report back.

Does anyone know if these can cast to your Chromecast or TV line an android tablet or are they more of a Windows machine?

    • They support Chromecasting via Chrome browser, same as any other Windows machine - if that's what you're asking…?

  • Any dead pixel guarantee?

  • Will this stack with [Afterpay] 15% off Eligible Items tmr?

    • we are not aware that we will be included in that promo. At the current rate of sales it looks like we will sell out shortly

  • Can these fast-charged via USB (of suitably high wattage)? I want to use this while travelling but leave the power adaptor behind.

    Edit: Doesn't seem like the SP5s have USB-C so I suppose that's a no.

    • Doesn't seem like the SP5s have USB-C so I suppose that's a no.

Correct. Unfortunately with these you're limited to a single USB-A port and a proprietary Surface port (however there is was a discontinued Surface port to USB-C adapter available at a significant price).

      • There are (very) cheap ways to charge with USB C, see post below.

        • Good to know. It's a shame they don't support data as well!

          • @LeifAlbor: There's a USB A port on the Surface Charger itself - this is how to get data from the charge port 😁

Yes, you can get USB C to Surface Port adaptors from AliExpress for under $10 - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003021838835.html or https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003957063768.html for example - and they work just fine for this purpose.

  • Five year old model…..

So is my girlfriend - what's your point?

        Your girlfriend's a 5 year old model?

  • I just saw you have similar one but cheaper. How that compares with this one? Thanks

"Units have screen bruising. It is only noticeable on solid colours. It does not affect system performance”

      • I have received one with bruised screen but paid as per this deal…

  • Did you guys get yours? I got mine. Took it out, it's pretty battered, rough, chewed like they had a rat, and I'm not sure who used them like this. The screen is a bit damaged too. I'm not sure it's worth it.

    • Photos?

    • a few (can't dark) areas - seen when black and (too bright) areas- seen when white.
it's a blob, so I assume it's been damaged by impact in those areas. Consistent with the wear on the kb, this wasn't taken care of.

i'll ask the seller, but yeah it's not what I expected
a refurb should fix any screen issues
