Needed a new pair of scales

You’re not actually supposed to put one foot on each, but whatever works for motivational purposes I guess

    • That's what I did, and I feel more confident now.

  • Are these the best? Is there better?

    • +44

You could weigh the pros and cons… but you probably need a scale for that

    • Scales don't normally cost $1 so no, these aren't the best and yes, there are better.

    • tl;dr yes, pretty darn gud for the money, easy to use even with multiple people using it (connects to whoever's app is open) at the time

  • not a bad price but will make your wallet lighter.

Hmm these or the trusty Renpho ones I already use. Anyone know if there much better or not ? Or are they roughly the same same. Cheers.

  • Do I need the app to view body fat % etc?

    • +79

No a mirror will be fine

  • What does it mean, full body?

    • +5

You step on it. A camera pops up from the base and climbs vertically, parallel to your body, stops at the top of your head and then returns to the base.

You are then given your weight in preferred unit of measurement (no newtons for the scientifically precise people out there, just American and normal) as well as some other mass metrics like body fat % etc.

  • Gone already?

    • I think Kogan still has it for this price.

Number one selling point "No Sharp Corners: The rounded-glass top plate safeguards you from bumping into pointed edges", i.e. they made sure the glass won't cut you.

    Ordered! Can't weight….or can I?

Weight is over, time to weigh in….Ordered! thanks for sharing and for the insight

We have one of these. The bodyfat percentage is wrong. Weight is fine and syncs to your phone if you have the app open, but the bodyfat percentage is way higher (compared to a proper inbody scan and confirmed). I'm actually around 13% bodyfat, scale says 23%

      don't lie to us tubby

    • weight variation between brands is a problem I find, have 3 different ones at home (Soehnle, Xiaomi, and a cheap brand) all come up different. Same thing at HN when I tried the scales ….. bought kitchen scales that will do to 20KG and should be accurate and will use that to get a reference by weighing something.

guess people just want to know if gaining or loosing weight.

Will it store recordings for several days then sync them all when you open the app? Or will it only sync the current day if you have the app open?

    • Got one of these, and agreed — eufy admit the body fat percentage is not a direct measurement (that maybe more expensive units can do?) but only a calculation based on numbers you provide:

the body fat % and other body compositions are calculated from the user's bioelectrical impedance, his/her profile (gender, age and height), and our own formula. Please understand the Eufy Smart Scale is a simple home appliance for you to measure and it cannot be taken as a precision medical measurement machine.

I’m unsure how accurate bioelectrical impedance is for accurately discerning between muscle and fat, and wonder how problematic this is for those who are heavy more because of muscle than fat.

If it is consistently wrong, then I guess you can at least use trends as a guide to your progress in maintaining / changing your body fat percentage.

Anyone know if you can get these to synch with Garmin Connect (either directly or through some other intermediate app e.g. myfitnesspal)?

  • I prefer half body scales. I weigh much less that way!

I bought one of these about a month ago for a similar price. So far, no complaints. Some of the cheap scales are a bit inaccurate, they provide a slightly different measurement each time you stand on them - but this one seems to be consistent.

I haven't tried the other features, I just wanted weight measurement.

Also syncs with google fit (app has to be open when weighing for this to work). Only annoying thing about the app, is it requires location access to setup bluetooth - but once connected the first time, you can remove that permission and everything still works.

I believe this is a limitation of Android, but the internet will correct me if that's not the case…

    • fyi, consistency and accuracy are different properties. The inconsistent scales may actually be more accurate.

    • Does it connect directly with Google Fit or go through another app?

      • +1

It connects to google fit via another app (the "Eufylife" app)

        • Ah ok, thanks for the reply!
