If you were a PC user, it would be easy getting a DAC, amp, or sound card to satisfy your audio needs. But why isn't it the same for console users? With 30 years of legacy and technical expertise in PC audio, we are venturing beyond the PC and into gaming consoles, and the Sound Blaster G3 is our answer. Designed to be a fuss-free, driverless audio upgrade for your gaming consoles, the G3 is meant to provide users with premium gaming features without having to break the bank.

Making our first foray into gaming audio on consoles, we debut our latest GameVoice Mix for game and voice chat balance capability, a customizable EQ preset with custom-tuned Footsteps Enhancer, and on-the-fly audio adjustments without having to exit your game's screen.

If all you have ever known is the default audio on your consoles, try the G3. We'll let its performance speak for itself.

I read in the last post of a Creative DAC that they handle payments overseas, so use a card that has no international transaction fees.

Got one these about a week ago for this price. I've got a set of sennheiser hd560s's and they worked fine plugged directly into the controller but i wanted that little bit more power so got one of these. Can honestly say it's a step up from connecting them to the controller. It's louder but also a fair bit more fuller and detailed. Also works fine with my pc. Pretty great little thing in my opinion for the price!

    • So, do you plug this DAC to the controller as well?? I'm confused…

      • Nah mate you connect the dac to the usb port of the ps5 and then connect the headphones to the dac.

        • Ah makes sense… So that means you still need to run the headphone cable the way to the PS5 unit…

          • @meong: Yep. I just bought a usb extension cable from amazon and that does the trick.

Seems like the kind of thing I would purchase, only for it to end up in a drawer and be forgotten about until I randomly come across it one day.

  • yea. then you go to creative website and see all drivers and apps made in 2013.
    meh

    • Um - plenty to grumble about on Creative's less than stellar drivers and tendency to regress bugs in their drivers. But given that the support page for the G3 has drivers from 2020 and 2022, this comment feels a decade out of date.

That said, I wouldn't pick this up before checking the soundblasterx reddit - creative can have long running, nasty bugs with their software.

(I've got an AE-5 and creative updates both the drivers and command suite several times a year. It's great when it's working. But Creative also sometimes breaks at least one piece of software during that cycle - so there's good and bad with their updates).

      • I remember the days when generally buying any soundcard that wasn't Soundblaster, was destined for problems. Even the trusty Gravis Ultrasound, had issues with Windows 95.

      • yea.. you're right.
        this product is actually supported.

they had a sale on recently and i looked at some amps/dac but the software/drivers were so old, its a joke

Creative still sells some really old gear - 2013 cards are still in their line up. Like you, I wouldn't touch those, but I guess there are still people on Vista who have cards that they want to replace to keep using software they are familiar with?

And even with my shots at Creative's driver support - if you aren't buying their low end gear, support goes on for a surprisingly long time - they are still dropping periodic updates for both the hardware and the software for the sound blaster Z range.

But you are SOL if you are looking for support on old low end cards from either Asus or Creative.

  • Does this gadget provide the capability to use a standard set of Bluetooth headphones w/ mic for chat on Nintendo Switch? The Switch has a 3.5mm jack built-in but no seemingly audio path for the microphone (wired or wireless/BT).

  • It's good to be used as standaloine (line In/OpticalIN -> Headphone out), at teh same time you can control the eq via mobile app

    SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1

    • Would this config work with my Turtle Beach Santa Cruz?
