These are in their own league compared to Sony and Bose.

So far what I heard is they're better in sound quality and fit well in Apple ecosystem. A little bit heavier than Sony and Bose.
Have the max's and the comfort doesn't even compare to either. Always find myself going back to the sonys as the slight noise-cancellation and sound quality improvements aren't enought to justify it's decrease in comfort (in terms of weight).

Also one more negative of the AirPods Max according to youtube reviews is, they do the best job at cancelling low frequency noise completely but this means they have enormous amounts of ANC cabin pressure.

It will either be "yes" or they will abandon the product like the Homepod. It was a massive failure and they just sold the remaining ones and decided to stop making it quite quickly.
there is a rumour mill generated recently re gen 2 with better codec connection battery life etc etc but who knows.
as above, agree definitely better sounding than the other two but it is HEAVY AND TIGHTER CLAMPING.
I actually don't really care about codecs lossless etc but if they made it slightly lighter or more comfortable with off switch like Sony or Bose (they auto switch off nevertheless do drain battery when on standby) I'd buy it instantly (bought and returned previously) at this price.

Another Overpriced, underwhelming product from Apple. It's actually a joke that this is considered a deal.
I’ve read reviews where people have experienced condensation issues inside the unit due to the design flaw of using aluminium. I don’t know if there’s any way to get around this for now but only to make sure you have Apple Care+ and look up what is covered. I’ll wait for the next one to come out

Could you recommend alternatives at the $6 price point?
Sennheiser momentum 4, sony xm5, Bose qc45 or these?
Heres what I know.
Momentum 4 - I don't know anything it's too new
XM5 - smaller and shallower earpads than XM4, some people with larger ears or ears that stick out found XM5 uncomfortable and causing pain on long sessions by bending the ear (these people preferred XM4). Much improved microphones which allows for good voice quality in phone calls compared to horrible XM3/4 microphones.
QC45 - same design as QC35, large and roomiest earpads of all models even XM4. Best comfort apparently especially for long sessions (e.g. international flight) thanks to large earcups/earpads and light weight. I think reviews said not much improvement to QC35 though for ANC (QC35 was already pretty good though).
Airpods Max - Best at cancelling low frequency sound, but because of this it has very high ANC cabin pressure which for some sensitive people is uncomfortable "instantly". Most natural "ambient mode" everything sounds like you don't have headphones on. Uncomfortable for long periods because of heavy weight.
Thanks mate, to be honest my top priority is sound quality and apparently the momentum 4 are the clear winners based on recent reviews, thing is I have never tried the AirPods max and I’m very curious about their sound.
Out of those, I'd probably go with the QC45s as they fold. I would also go in store and try them all out.
