It looks like the code is same for everyone. I received the same code.

Hot Tip: Price match against Videopro over JB Live Chat to get a direct link for $495, and apply the coupon and it'll be $195 :)

Be quick though, as they close the loophole quickly once they catch on.

I tip my hat to ozbargining at its finest

    • Thankyou mate, just saved me $$$!

    • +6

Loophole was closed and the rep said they cannot price match since the 50% off code.

      • +10

Thanks, ended my chat, was still 16th in queue. Probably behind 15 other OZB members :)

      • +3

Thought so, hopefully helped some people out anyway :)

    • Contacted JB Hifi, it's not possible to use this approach now.

    • Got a price match, but the code resets the price match to full price

    • +1

Thank you - managed to use the price match earlier.

I have been keen to try this model out and this will allow a longer review rather than relying on the samples in-store.

    • -1

Wow. Missed it. $195 for these is a steal.

Everyone can have my code. Go crazy!

I think a new model was released just this month

    • -2

Yep, 4th gen. Deal is for 1st gen.

  • +13

Have had a set of these for just under 2 years now and love them. I've compared these with my wifes XM4s and although the noise cancelling has plenty of room for improvement, the sound quality is (in my view) significantly better, bass is punchy but not overpowered and mids and highs really shine. Absolutely would recommend, especially at this price

    • +1

^^ this is very true. If ANC is extremely important, then you might be better off with the bose QC 35II or QC45 or the XM4s. While the sound reproduction is better with the momentum, it leaves a lot to be desired in terms of ANC.

    • Facts.

Also had mine for a few years now, they still look great. Granted I try to take good care of them, but the hinges are fine, the sliding cup mechanics are fine, the headband padding and the ear pads are fine too!

The only thing is that I found the mic was quite poor for phone calls. Often I'd have to speak up or just disconnected them to continue the call.

But the music quality is really good, specially after a little EQ if you're into that. So given that's my primary concern, I'm okay with some of the flaws mentioned and I've come across.

      • How are the leather ear cups holding up?

        • +2

Just to add my experience as mines a little more on the extreme side.. after 2 years of getting used a few hours per day with meetings, work calls, productivity time, etc. and even a teething toddler munching on the cups a few times (older kids will take them off the my desk and hand them out to the toddlers!) they still look like new - no tears, fraying or any unusual wear that I can see.

        • +1

No problems with the ear cups at all :)

  • +2

Are these better then the Sony XM3 or XM4s?

    • +9

subjective, but imho, yes for overall sound quality, but XM4 still provides better noise cancellation.

    • Also curious as to how it compares to these ^

    • +5

If all you want is ANC, then sony, if you are more critical on sound, then Momentums.

    • +6

      Having owned all 3.

      1) The build quality of the momentum are 100x better than the Sony's plastic and Pu leather.
      2) Sounds just as good.
      3) NC is better on the Sony, but not by alot.

Build quality is a Huge factor, both sony's lasted me around 1.5 year before the headphone's low quality plastic arms broke. Im tempted to buy a second momentum because the build and comfort is just that good. Also the momentum uses soft lamb leather ear pads and initially retailed for 599 AUD

      • +5

Agree on points 1 and 3, but couldn't disagree more on point 2. I found that I couldn't enjoy music in XM4's and returned them the next day. The Momentums 3's are on another level. They compare favourably with my wired Bang & Olufsen H6 (2nd gen) and I personally like their sound better than the B&O H95 (which cost 5-6 times more than this sale price) on some material, but this is more subjective. A also have wired Focals with an Auralic Class A headphone amp/DAC, so have something to compare against.

        • +3

I too find XM4s muddy and not enjoyable to listen to, while I am still delighted by the sound of the Momentum’s.

On the other hand the Sonys are more comfortable and battery life and noise cancelling are much better so it depends on your priorities.

If you’ve heard the XM4s and are happy with the way they sound for most people they are probably the pair I’d recommend.

  • Are these any good for drummers wanting to protect their ears?

    • +1

Not really. It'll have a small benefit over nothing but if you really want to protect your ears get a good set of drummer isolating monitors. They're usually rated like earmuffs (25-30 decibel reduction kind of thing), aren't as comfortable but will actually protect your ears.

ANC doesn't really work for protecting your ears, except that you can listen to your music at a lower volume to not get over the outside noise. They're not for actually protecting you from that outside noise.

    • You want noise isolation. I have these KZ ZSN Pro X and it works well. Cheap too.

  • Just a heads-up for those concerned with this kind of thing - these aren't the current model. They're now on 4th gen. Reviews on that JB site are >3 years old suggesting 1st gen, but pics look like maybe 3rd gen.

    • No they are the 3rd gen model, so 1 generation behind.

      • Yep, you're right, JB just haven't updated their description and reviews after gen 1

Model and SKU confirm gen 3

    • No, that's fale. I've got Momentums, Momentum Wireless (2 and 3) and these are different. Buttons, and design are not the same as the OG.

Not only that, but the model number on JB's website is 508234.
This correlates to Momentum 3s on Senny's website (do a CTRL+F)

      https://www.sennheiser-hearing.com/en-AU/p/momentum-wireless…

      • I've got the 2's and yeah, these look different when I've enlarged the image.

        My bad

  • I've been using Momentum 2 for couple of years now, great set, not sure if it's worth an upgrade.

Apart from usb-c charge, is Momentum 3 much better than 2?

  • Tempting, I barely used the Bose I bought.

Now everything's wireless, but Bose are still good other than being wired.

Doubt they're worth much on the used market.

  • Hi guys i don't post often but I thought id jump in and say I got these for this price like a year ago with this promo. they are HORRIBLE!

Sound quality is great so if your using them as just headphones great but as a head set get ready to have calls randomly go on hold as the sensor thinks you took them off and forget trying to answer calls using them or using voice assistance.

I had them replaced twice and the same issue its the design, not a fault.

    • This sounds crazy but try waiting 5 seconds after unfolding them before putting them on (until the blue “Bluetooth connected” light turns on). It seems to make the auto pause/hold much more reliable.

If that doesn’t fix it, you can turn it off in the app.

  • -4

I brought this and I return it. I just couldn`t accept the sound quality.

    • +7

What’s wrong with the sound quality mate?

    • +2

What are you comparing it to?

  • -1

I think I can probs post my question here.
Keen for XM4 silver. Looking for any coupons to get one anywhere. The cheapest I could found one was 400.
If anyone has any hints, give me a buzz.

    • Search for the item and create an alert so you're notified the next time it is on sale.

      • thanks

    • Send me a PM, if you're not in a rush I can sell you a pair of XM-1000M5s for similar price. They haven't arrived yet. I am going to buy a pair of Momentum 4s instead.

  • Tempted as I need a new pair for home gaming but apparently the mic is a bit suspect, can anyone comment? Also how are these for comfort on bigger ears?

    • What device would you be using them with?

      • Mainly PC, but PS5 support would be bonus.

  • +3

Great headphones. As a note these support aptx low latency, which is awesome for gaming and videos. Not many headphones out there with that codec support. Just need a 20 bucks USBC apt low latency transmitter for PC, ps5 or switch. I've been using them like that for 2 years now.

The new model does not support low latency but instead aptx adaptive, which is not as low latency.

    • For me, aptx LL was definitely the feature that tipped the scales from "maybe" to "buy".

    • Thanks for this info. I was wondering this when reviewing the differences to the 4, kind of disappointing - seems they really improved the mic (good for gaming) and simultaneously increased the latency (bad for gaming).

  • Got them last time they were half off. Excellent quality. My only gripe is that the noise cancelling isn't as great as some of the others I've used. And the "on shoulder" feature (pauses music when you take your headphones off) is buggy. I would often have it trigger while wearing them so I eventually disabled it.

Buttons can also be a little tricky at first. I was originally using the Sony ANC phones that have a nice large button that you can push up down to skip track, or in to pause/play. The Senny's have three small buttons all the same height and it takes you a second to make sure you're pressing the right button.

    • Has the comfort improved (weight and fit around ear/cushion)? That was the biggest gripe for me (older wired model).

      • I have heard some criticism but I personally found then very comfortable.

  • +4

    1/2 price discount is misleading.

I have seen these at $349 regularly more often than not at others places such as Amazon and possibly as low as $299 before.
If anything the discount is $50 which equals 14% off.

    • The discount is based on RRP always conveniently set to give generous discounts

    • Were they gen 3 ones though? They all look similar. The older generations are cheaper.

      • Yeah the ones just before the 4th gen Momentum that was released recently.

  • 92XXRV2E02M53B

  • Do these come with a cable like Bose?

  • Thanks OP, fathers day present sorted.

  • I have the Momentum 2's- they're good but really uncomfortable for me on top (think this is redesigned in this new version though).

I bought some Sennheiser HD599SE instead and they're much better comfort and sound quality and the Momentums just live in a drawer now. Turns out I didn't need bluetooth and noise cancelling etc, I just cared about comfort and sound quality and having a wire didn't really matter. So advice is to think how often you'll actually use them other than sat at home.

    • I'm also using open backed headphones at home.

They're great. In meetings you can hear yourself, better sound quality, and much more comfortable for all day wear.

They may not work well if you have a noisy environment ( petrol garden tools, kids, building, etc) and I find myself using closed back headphones for these situations.
