        • Isn't that the majority of ones which get votes?

          • +2

@DiscountForThee: I'm not sure tbh. Doesn't seem like it'd hurt to post the rest at least.

            • @lychnis: I think usually the posts about new movies being added to platforms, which get enough votes to reach the front page, fit close enough to the criteria

              • +1

@DiscountForThee: Wouldn't the rest of the catalogue too if limited to titles that haven't been posted before + are the best value offer?

                • @lychnis: Not many things that are released on netflix fall into "new, upcoming, blockbuster films which are as-yet unreleased on other streaming platforms". There's a TON of originals and generally mediocre films which busted no blocks, critically or otherwise

                  • +1

@DiscountForThee: I mean in terms of ozb criteria, seems like you could just post anything that wasn't posted in the last 6 months and isn't available cheaper though.

Is there something special about this one from a posting guideline perspective?

    • +2

How about actually doing this and seeing if it makes the front page or not? People might appreciate the heads up that a movie was there. Or they might not and you'd get an anwer to your question.

      • +1

Good idea, I'd actually have a lot of fun writing a script to automate it.

Hope everyone enjoys browsing ozbargflix as much as I do making it.

Ugh I knew this would become a thing

  • +10

Streaming platform gets content? Say what!

  • +11

Streets won't forget that "not a deal" won the community vote by a factor of almost 2:1 but the decision was to allow them anyway.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/510579

The controversy in the comments shouldn't be unexpected. It's not a deal, and most of the community agree. Pointing to positive votes on the deals is a flawed argument due to comment requirements of negs.

"Move along, nothing to see here"

        Mods be like:
Plenty of people enjoy this and is easily hidden for anyone who does not enjoy it

        • +6

The response received indicated this should be an opt in option not an opt out ;).

          • @Drakesy: Dunno it seems easier to opt out than to make a comment and complain lol

            • +4

              @DiscountForThee: It's really not
              lol

            • +3

@DiscountForThee: If every product for sale in Australia that wasn't posted within the last 6 months and isn't available cheaper elsewhere ended up on ozbargain the easy option would be to opt out of the site completely.

              • -1

@lychnis: lmao what are you talking about "every product in australia"? Was there a trampoline deal I missed because this feels like quite a leap?

                • +3

@DiscountForThee: If it's allowed by the guidelines why not?

                  • -1

@lychnis: I'm still catching up to the leap you've taken - what are you on about? What point are you trying to make here?

                    • +1

                      @DiscountForThee:

                      • This posting is just a thing that's available for sale in Australia and meets OZB's post guidelines. That's it.

                      • The posted subject being a blockbuster, or newly avaiable, or not available on other platforms is irrelevant to what is / is not allowable on the site, or for that matter what constitutes a bargain.
oz-blockbuster-newly-available-but-not-available-on-other-streaming-platforms.com.au might have some merit to it as a business but that isn't the site the item was posted on.

                      • If "is allowable on OZB" is the bar we're setting, why not just post everything that meets that criteria.

                      • @lychnis: I haven't seen anyone arguing "is allowable on OZB", I've been people arguing for things that are:
                        • of interest to many people and,
                        • easily ignored, using easy to use built-in website functions, by people who aren't interested in them

Now please let me know where the leap was from that, to literally any allowed product lmao

    • -1

Pointing to positive votes on the deals is a flawed argument due to comment requirements of negs.

Conversely, stating that most of the community agree and pointing to the comment requirements of negs is a flawed argument. Neither option captures the true position, but you've assumed that your position is the majority one.

    • +3

      Great point, I fully agree.

  • +4

Can't really see this as a bargain. I mean I was tempted to pirate Thor because I missed it at the cinemas and being told that it was coming to Disney+ was useful. But this is a year old, you'd expect movies like this to be released on streaming services.

  • +3

    Great movie.

I thought the option to not see "subs" deals would stop people complaining, yet here they are? Unsubscribe and be happy.

  • +1

just finished the first book and was thinking about watching this again, timing couldnt be better

  • +7

We seriously need to reconsider the way additions to streaming services are posted on here.

    • +3

By "we", you meant all the people who woke up today and decided to be an (profanity), went out of their way to neg, comments, argue about something that can be easily ignored, but were TOTALLY FINE with previous SUBS posts from any other days?
Then yes, you guys should have a weekly meeting and rant about it.

      • Hi Pot…

      • +7

        Geez, don't take it personally.
Ozbargain is a democracy, if you want something to change you're entitled to speak up about it

  • +12

    How is this a bargain?

    • +3

Users who wish to Block "Additions to Streaming Services" can do so by clicking on the Streaming Service Addition tag, then clicking the 3 dot menu, then clicking hide on new deals and/or front page.

  • +1

FYI to dune fans, Dune awakening teaser for the mmo game is out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDB7BtZRp80
+ spice wars is early release on steam.

  • +9

If Netflix thinks I might want to watch this they will send me an email/push notification or put it at the top of the nav.

There is no reason for this to be on OzBargain.

  • +6

I like a good Netflix recommendation as much as the next person "working" from home but this isn't a bargain.

  • +8

Be less effort to block the subs posts vs comment + neg vote, but people do like been moany assholes on the internet

  • +1

I don't mind these subs post. Let's me know in advance not to buy the blu-rays.
You do have the option to turn these posts off?

  • I am going to watch this with subtitles

  • +1

    Mod? It's getting hot herre.

    • +1

Just take off all your clothes

  • -1

Wtf is wrong with people - why would you downvote this but not Spider-Man No Way Home being added to Prime: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/713311 ??

    • Because no one, I mean, no one dares to F with Spiderman, or Thor.

    • I know and Spiderman was worse than dune.

  • +7

Rarely post.. but wouldn't it be assumed that all movies/shows can be found on some streaming service eventually?

    • So downvote this one as well: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/713311

      Why pick on this deal?

      • +1

Because you get reamed by downvotes far more than doing it on less fanboy content

      • +1

i didn't upvote the other one either….but now that we are getting a series of posts about shoes/movies coming onto streaming.. i needed to show my disatisfaction about this trend

  • +7

I'm with the others here.. not sure how this is related to any deals or bargains at all?

  • +6

    How's this a bargain?

    • +4

It's not. Even many of the upvoters have said so…

  • +2

So is posting that the NRL finals are free to air (with ads) on Channel 9 also a deal?

    • Check Fifa free on SBS, Uncharted, Spiderman, Borat, and many more and decide for yourself.

  • +2

personally, I don't mind these announcements. I spent more time on ozbargain than I do on netflix. Have made good use of many public announcements here even though they are not technically deals

    • Have made good use of many public announcements here

That is not the purpose of the site though.

      • +4

Not the purpose of the Deals section, but forums are ok

  • +2

People are genuinely upset by this post? If you're upset by this then you may need to go outside and breathe a bit of fresh air.

  • +2

Normally just scroll past these posts but seeing as we've all decided to have a whine on this one..

Can we possibly separate Game Subs and Movie Subs?

  • Every single post on this thread, responding to people who are asking why this is considered a bargain:

"look, we secretly know it isn't a real bargain, but can't you just ignore it and use the "Hide" button? Come on. Let us just have this exception to the rule! We don't need to explain why we think it is bargain, just scroll past if you disagree!!!"

  • Wow the comments in this thread. Smh.

  • IMAX version?

  • +4

    Boo this deal!

  • Hey it's cool and all but Netflix's not gonna get me back that way.

    • ♫ Tell me why-y ♫

      • Ain't nothin' but a heartache-e ♫

  • +3

Ozadvertising, awesome movie btw but It's a no from me.
Can't wait for the next series or movie release so I can post for likes.

  • +4

So what was the price before and after? Oh hang on Netflix is now charging $6 more a month compared to about 6 months ago. Went from $17 to $20 and now $23…Great deal! And don’t get me started with the Netflix productions. I love de niro and others but let’s face it, the Irishman shoulda been called insomnia therapy.

  • This movie was very average.

  • +1

Spectacular movie. If you think otherwise you don't appreciate masterful film making.

    • If your masterpieces equals boredom stretching for 3:30 hours then I detest it. Reminds me of there will be blood. Perhaps it’s like jazz, I know it’s really technical to play but unless you’re a musician, it's almost impossible to get into.

      • +1

If you're bored with exquisite scores, insane sound editing, amazing world building, great visuals, good build up of a story, in general one of the best in cinema experiences I've had in years… then I don't know what you want from a movie.

  • +4

Not a bargain. Period. As simple as that

  • +1

    Cool forum topic

  • Will it be in 4K?

  • +3

This is a vote to remove these subs movie listings from OB.

  • +5

I can’t remove it from the RSS feed, so here I am downvoting.

  • DESERT POWER 🏜

  • I think I need to watch it again because when I watched it at the cinemas it sucked and I almost fell asleep

  • +5

Should post about free movies on free to air be allowed? Technically FTA movies are the real bargains since they are FREE and a real BARGAIN

  • +5

    Don’t see a bargain here!

  • +4

Great movie but this is not a bargain. I would imagine new movies and shows are being added everyday. Why doesn’t each one of them get posted here?

  • +1

Thanx OP, I was about to buy it on 4K but will watch it on Netflix now…. You saved me $30 or $40

  • Game is better than the movie. Enuff said

  • -1

Not a bargain anyway. Movie was utter rubbish. Didn't even watch it all the way through. Same as nope. That was rubbish as well

  • +3

Even if mods allow these posts there is no argument to be made that this constitutes an actual "bargain".

Some disagree but I think it is perfectly reasonable to downvote if you feel like there is no actual bargain.

People are entitled to their own opinions, there is no need to take offence or get sensitive when others express their opinions and you don't agree…

    • I'm not being sensitive, I'm just curious to why people complain instead of just using the website functions to hide these posts?

  • +2

Half finished movie that was mediocre at best put on a failing streaming service months after it has come out in other regions. And big movie companies wonder why piracy exists.

This is a forum post at best. All this does is entice the point whoring.

  • +1

Not a deal, belongs in the forums.
