        • +1

We assume she, because that is the norm by a vast margin.

        • Because what man wouldn't want a 83" top of the range OLED TV?

      • Much man, such wise.

      • like her sister?

    • +32

this one ofcourse you can see different girls everyday

      • +3

You don’t need 83”. Most people are fine with their 6” 😉

        • -8

          Said no one ever.

        • +8

No need to show off your 6"!

        • Not what she said.

        • +7

I started out with 4”. A couple of expensive top end upgrades over the years, I now have 6.7”. I don’t mind upgrading to the folding one that I heard can open up to 7.6” though….

          • @Buy2Much: I started out with 4”.

a couple of expensive top end upgrades over the years, I now have 6.7”. I don’t mind upgrading to the folding one that I heard can open up to 7.6” though….

Then i bought this gel…. can open up to 7.6”

            /s

    • +7

High interest rates are good for your savings

      • -4

        • +1

If the bank forces you into a mortgagee sale you know where to post….

        • +5

          You spelt debts wrong.

  • There is $300 gift card, if someone can bargain, they can reduce the cost further.

  • +39

Thanks, bought one for the toilet

    • I got one for the toilet in my motor home 😋

  • +16

Looks amazing but I'll never pay that much for a tv no matter what the size or quality

    • +2

Perspectives will change when you have more disposable income.

      • +3

I save over $50k in addition to my normal medium term savings and super. Still think this is a stupid amount for a TV. I get $2-3k for a 65" oled if you use it for hours everyday and plan to keep it for 10 years but an extra $6k for slightly larger is dumb. A laser projector would be better value, just as high contrast (surely you would have a theatre room if you drop 10k on a TV), and larger area.

        • +3

          slightly? it's 63% larger

          • @dirkgonnadirk: 77" OLED for $5k is better value, why pay double price for only 16% bigger.

            • @Ryballs: agree with the first part. the answer to the second part for those who pay for this would be 'because i can'.

but yes it would be great if 83" becomes more reasonable.

      • +2

A: I'm saying that I wouldn't pay that much for a TV, not 'if I had disposable income I would buy one'

        B: Whats disposable income ?

        • It's the income you dispose once all your expenses are dealt with.

It could be saved, invested, or spent.

Some people will always find a way to zero their weekly balance, for them a higher disposable income just means it's zeroed for a bigger TV.

          • +1

@Ebany: Ah ha!…..again I wouldn't pay 10k for a tv no matter how much disposable I have. But I've been investing mine for ever now, never saw it as disposable. After expenses + investing= what's left is my disposable income.

  • mhmmmmmmmm

  • +3

considering i got my c2 65 inch for 3k flat with 500 in HN gift cards, this should be an easy pass for anyone willing to wait it out.

    life's too short tho.

    • +1

The old C9 65's were as low as $2300-2400 with gift cards. I couldn't even imaging spending $3k on a tv, let alone nearly $10k!

    • +1

      life's too short tho.

      ….to finish typing "ugh"

    • I bought a 65” B8 for $1350 delivered. Those old days

    • +53

      This comment hurts my brain.

      • +1

        yeah i'm scared

      • +3

I think shrardy hurt their brain with too much shard

    • +5

So this is what below 90iq looks like.

      • In my mind anyone that uses the term 'no brainer' - meaning a brain is literally not needed to make a decision of this sort - is equipped to make a decision of this sort.

  • +14

long time ago, 40 inch pdp was 10,000 dollars and 23 inch Samsung LCD monitor was 3,000 dollars. If someone wants to taste latest tech earlier than others, has to pay more. That is it.

  • +1

Wouldn't it look low res having only 4k's worth of pixels in such a large area?

    • +4

Depends how close you are to the TV

    • +2

It's relative to how close you sit to the TV, the bigger the screen the further back the "optimal" viewing distance is and the further back you're sitting the sharper the image will appear.

    • Technically, yes but it's so insignificant that you won't notice. You should be sitting far enough that you wouldn't notice with such a big screen.

    • Thanks for the replies everyone - makes sense

I'd love to have a big enough lounge room that would require a tele of this size.

    • +2

From another perspective OLED provides extra clarity to the image.

And yet another perspective, there is no real 8K content as yet. So 4K is as good as you can get for now.

      • +6

At the risk of saying that nobody will ever need more than 640 KB of RAM, I think 4K is already the limit for much media.

Most films made over the last 20 years are only 2.5K or less due to the reliance on CG, and many films from earlier, while able to provide greater resolution, don't offer much more in terms of clarity.

Here's an (albeit, outdated) list of media, and if it is real or fake 4K. Lots of upscales released as 4K.

Moving forward, films may be made with 8K in mind, but for the immediate future it seems only demos and special events (like the Tokyo Olympics).

TL:DR; if you want a TV, resolution is no longer the most important thing that you should hold out for.

        • Yep, all the MCU films are filmed in 2k and even a lot of films filmed in 4k+ are mastered with a 2k DI. (so edited in 2k and all CG in 2k). Only films without CG on film, so ironically older films, can be scanned into 4k or even 6k. Moving forward 4k DI will probably become the standard in 5-10 years. 8k, if it ever happens will be many decades off being a standard (film makers editing with an 8k DI).

        • +1

The Ai upres on my shield from 1080p to 4k is very impressive, and the 8K TVs have upres as well. Probably part of the high cost is sticking a powerful chip and algorithm in there.

    • +2

it's honestly pretty small compared to most projectors, which look great at 2k or 4k.

  • +4

At this price, shouldnt it be 8K?

    • +4

      What content is in 8K?

  • +8

I can't think of anything currently on TV worth spending $10k to watch.

    • +6

      Isn't M*A*S*H still airing daily?

      • +1

DOES FARMER WANTS A WIFE NOT EXIST TO YOU?!

        But yes, completely fair.

        • Beauty and the geek is where its at.

    • House of Dragons?

    • +1

You have over 100 years at this point of incredible stuff to watch

    • +1

Days of Our Lives is still going.

      • Theres always TVSN

    • +2

Only time I ever see broadcast TV is when it is on in a waiting room or at the gym. I can't believe how awful it truly is. The aerial socket has been empty for years. But a TV like this would need a Plex server or UHD collection to be worth while.

      • I have the 77" G1 and mostly watch my 4k atmos collection from Plex and other times newer content from Amazon/Netflix/Disney

      • To get the most out of a G2, for sure ya need quality content. But lower Bitrate streams and other content will still look excellent on a god- tier TV like the G2.

        • I have the 83" A90G. Low bitrate stuff looks shit, IMO.
But I was more referring to the quality of the production itself, not the video file.

          • @Morien: Well Plex and UHD discs aren’t necessary for high quality productions as made by Netflix, Amazon, HBO and the other streaming behemoths. So it’s good we agree that Plex and UHD discs aren’t necessary.

    • +2

I can't think of anything currently on TV worth spending $1k to watch.

    • +1

      Trailer Park boys

  • +2

    please give me C1 deals

    • +3

They don't manufacture C1s any more

      • +3

        Which sucks.

And C2 is soo much more expensive.

Hoping there's some decent 65" C2 deals around black friday

        • C2 isn't more expensive. The 83" C1 launched at $12,599.

It's just that it was discounted over its lifetime, just as this one will be, as will the C3, etc. You want the C1 runout prices, then you'll get it, just not yet.

  • Bargain.
