I have been keeping my eye on this collection since it came out last year and this is the cheapest price it has ever been so far, with the previous lowest at $61. These Blu-Rays are region B and compatible with Australian Blu-Ray players.

The box set includes 6 of Bong Joon-Ho's 7 movies:

  • Barking Dogs Never Bite (2000)
  • Memories of Murder (2003)
  • The Host (2006)
  • Mother (2009)
  • Snowpiercer (2013)
  • Parasite (2019)
  • Parasite Black and White (2020)

The only omission is Okja (2017) which was originally a Netflix exclusive but was released earlier this year as part of the Criterion Collection.

TIL there is a BW version of Parasite

Why does Parasite have a black and white version?
In his interview with THR, Bong Joon-ho revealed that part of the decision behind the black-and-white version of Parasite was to make his film feel classic in nature. He said, "I think it may be vanity on my part, but when I think of the classics, they're all in black and white."

I like how it acknowledges it's probably more to do with his vanity.

"Because I wanted to illustrate the infinite contrast ratio of my OLED. Only plebs have illuminated blacks."

    • When I want to watch something in B&W I surgically remove the colour cones in my eyes - much more effective than a digital removal

    • I watched Lost in Translation in black and white once, and it fit surprisingly well. The scene where Bill Murray's character is looking at carpet samples his wife sends him is actually funnier.
