Where can I get Halal pork for you?

      • Mecca?

      • Same place where you can get Kosher pork

        • There are news of research on kosher pork…

      • +1

they make imitation pork products from turkey meat for people who eat kosher or halal ….

guess if you read testament you miss out on eating pork, or enjoy pulled pork while you read the new testament …..

    • +1

Probably the reason why they are marked down in Rockdale…

    • I feel like you were going for this and got downvoted into oblivion

  • +1

    is port good eating?

    • haha, you have keen eye.

    • It's also e-less

  • +1

That's a lot of pulled pork!

    • Nup, that's a lot of packed pork!

      • That's a lot of pre-pulled pork!

  • +2

i bought some lamb shanks today on clearance at coles (use by today) and they stink like shit. never had an issue on shortdated stuff before especially if using right away but this time i think i was caught out

    • you need to check that the vacuum seal hadn't been broken.

    • +2

keep the packaging and receipt and take them in next time you go in and get your money back. I usually ring before hand and get someone's name and write that on the receipt

    • +29

Go back to Coles and say "shanks for nothing".

      • +1

        funny dude

    • Yeah marks downs can be a real roll of the dice, I’ve been stung a few times. Have to have a good look at it and make sure it smells ok; and use or freeze straight away. Woolworths actually had a policy where they gave you the money back, along with something of the same value if you had off meat

      • +1

thats true. ill just call this a lesson learnt. the shanks looked perfect, vacuum sealed with no issues. was only when i opened them (i planned on cooking that night so didnt need to worry about freeze or storage). Oh well!

Can you mail me one please?

  • On my way

  • Damn that’s a bargain.

  • +1

I bet a boneless pig would look cute and gross at the same time.

Chuck in a slow cooker for 8 hours with two bottles of Bundaberg Sarsaparilla and you've got yourself some nice pulled pork.

    • +1

Or 45 minutes in the pressure cooker… 😉

The profit of Woolworth is 432.43% when sell it at $8 per KG!

    • +4

      That's… not how it works.

    • +4

You are good at math.. ONLY math.

Sounds like when I adjusted stock levels while working at Woolworths. Instead of getting 1 crate of 2L milk, we ended up with 1 pallet. Got cleared at around 30 cents a bottle.

    • +2

Reminds me of the army. A pallet of milk and ice cream arrived in the bush with no cold storage facilities. Thickshakes for everyone!

    • How does that happen though? Is it a clerical error, or system error?

      • +2

Over-purchased and expiry date. Perfectly fine to freeze for at least 6 months.

        • Frozen milk? I didn’t know that was a thing

          • +2

@ChadHominem: Milk and cream freeze well if used for cooking/baking applications. I probably wouldn't just defrost and drink a glass of frozen milk, but I've never had an issue with it when used as an ingredient.

        • +2

Oops! Was replying about the pork- lol. But yes, you can freeze milk.

    Mmmm… Pork Adobo

    • Sarap!

      • Masarap!

  • Nice…

Here's the best recipe for pork should roast with crackling. We generally do it up per the recipe, remove the crackling when it comes out of the oven, then remove the fat layer on top of the roast before slicing to serve. Whatever's left goes into the slow cooker, on low, until soft enough to pull apart. Use this recipe for the best Mexican pulled pork! I just altered it to use the already cooked pork, but used the same rest of ingredients.

I reckon it's the best value for meat there is. Yum!

I was literally about to post the first recipe. It's truly the best… I'm gonna make it this weekend. Just make sure that you open the pork and dry it in the fridge overnight because it's been netted and vacuum sealed.

      • I've done it without the overnight, but if you remember, and have the room….I usually bring it out to the bench, untie it and flatten it on a platter, and let it come to room temp (maybe 20-30 mins, depending), patting with paper towels just before oiling/seasoning/salting then straight into the oven. It's such a great and easy recipe. The foil balls and checking the salt, is the pro tip that makes it.

        • Why flatten it? If it's rolled there's nowhere for the fat to pool.

Yes, also made a video a couple of years ago for those who like to watch 😃, here it is; https://youtu.be/AWmnkt41LTE

  • They freeze pretty well if you have space!

  • Just freeze it and store it will last month's don't.worry about it's expiry date.

    • or just eat it for every meal for the next few day

  • Good price… I do a lot of shiskebab or shashlik from those. But have to throw away a skin

    • don throw away the skin. deep fry it and it tastes really good.

  • Wow.. thats a great price. its going to be pork for b'fast, lunch and dinner, for the next few days.

    Is it halal?
    /s

    • Would it be halal/kosher/vegan if cultured in the lab.

  • No stock there just checked

  • +1

    Yeah none there at 5pm.

I did pick up half price beef strips teriyaki style in the aisle before however… so not a complete loss
