      • I somehow missed this deal, I will look at it a bit closer

EDIT: this was meant to be a reply to another comment below, doh!

      • No Amaysim is now supporting esim, VOLTE and wifi calling

    • +1

You are from Perth. Optus offer 50% 12 months discount. Can do 100 GB plan for just under 30 dollar.

      • I somehow missed this deal, I will look at it a bit closer

  • -2

does JB have the new iPhone 14 Pro?

    • They will ofcourse.

    • I just typed iPhone 14 in search bar on JB HiFi website

      • Whoa that's pricey! I don't think used 13 Pro models will drop price much this year.

      • $1899 for a pro max tempting :)

  • What’s the likelihood of getting the $20 p/month credit? I think that is the only way it makes it worthwhile for me, so it would come down to $79 p/m.
I spoke to a rep on chat and they said that there isn’t a promo for that.
I read the link someone posted earlier which looks like it’s hit and miss whether you get it or not.
    Thoughts?

    • +1

If one rep says "NO"…Hang up & call again

      • Will they confirm PRIOR to signing up?

        • They confirmed me over the phone and in Twitter privately that it is NOT possible.

    • +1

I got it straight away last time, but again, keep trying and be polite :) (But I grabbed it on the $1200 24mo deal..).

      • What did you say to them? They just told me that it is not an active promo.

  • +1

I signed up to this deal when they had the $500 GC (which I used). But having to pay $69 per month for 12 months does hurt the pocket. I hardly use even half of the data or make enough phone calls that would justify the $69 per month if it wasn't for the GC.

    • +1

Better for a tax deduction though. For me, works out to be $10/month

  • +1

$1200 gift card is pretty generous. I did this last time as my work pays my phone bill, basically got a free brand new iPhone out of it.

    • +3
      1. Buy the most expensive iPhone for $2,769
      2. Salary sacrifice to get $955 back
      3. Return the iPhone
      4. Buy the iPhone that you are after for say $1,899
      5. Profit = $1,899 - $955 - $1,200 = $256
      • More details on the salary sacrifice?

        • +1

          talk to your boss?

          • @dirtyhen: How can you calculate the salary sacrifice benefit in general? Lets say a clean $100,000 for example?

            • +1

              @nomadspartan: 100K is in the 32.5% bracket.
Without getting into buying a more expensive phone and selling it, or other shenanigans, if you salary sacrifice a phone you get 32.5% off and don't pay GST.

Let's say the phone is $2000
You pay $1818 with pre-tax income
That income would have been $1227 in your pocket
You basically got 39% off the purchase price.

              • @coxymla: Ah makes sense. Thanks for taking the time to write this example down. I wonder if you can then use the same invoice to then claim a tax refund using TRS when going overseas?

  • +1

If your post code is eligible, this offer from Optus is still much better than any GC offers for the next 12 months.
    https://www.optus.com.au/geo-offer
Mind you, the $29/m offer on Optus includes unlimited calls and texts to 35 countries as well.
    No affiliation.

    • +1

      not eligible

  • Does anyone know if we can add Telstra One Number on the JB plans to use for Apple Watch? Thanks!

  • I'm on Felix 35. The port in credit would make it slightly profitable for me, still not worth the effort, and possible credit check inquiry. Basically id be buying a gift card, and may get slightly better reception, plus better tax return return. Worth it I guess

  • -1

Hi when do these deals expire I'm overseas till Monday are they still available until at least Tuesday.

  • If anyone does get this plan, please let us know how you go with getting the $20 p/m credit.

  • -5

Would be a good deal but what they do not tell in the ad that you have to be off Telstra for over 30 days.
The ACCC disagrees so tell both the TIO and the ACCC.
OOps might get banned for spilling the beans?

    • +2

Please direct me to where the ACCC has a ruling that businesses can’t offer deals to new customers only or on what a new customer definition is.

  • For anyone interested there's some more plans if you ask in-store/call up.
They have $1,000 and $1,500 off the Samsung Z series for $69 and $99 plans (24 months) if you're after the phones.

    • Any idea which phones have $1,000 and $1,500 off?

      • Rep said Z series so the Flip and Folds

      • if you click through to this deal, its one of the banners.

  • When does this deal expire?

    • Mate I think it's top secret nobody wants to share.

      • Oops!! I just saw it on the deal. Must be going blind

        • Ok it says end date is on front of catalogue which I found and it's the 14th September.

      • -2

gift cards must be used before 14/09 and 21/09?

        • ?? Where are you getting this info from

        • Not true, the gift card has no expiry according to jb
Also, i got the gift card 13th and used it on the 15th and it didnt expire

  • +1

Just got the $20 p/month credit through the online chat with no problem. Was asked to set up the direct debit first through.

    • what did you ask? A port-in credit of $20per month was advised?

      • +1

From previous posts. Obviously, Telstra offers welcome credit to new customers without explicitly advertising it. You have to mention the offer to get it. In my case, I asked for the welcome credit, they offered me $10 per month for 12 months. I replied by saying "I was told it is $20". They seem to be pretty happy to do it anyway.

        • What plan did you go? 69p/m 12m or $99p/m 24 months?

          • +1

            @stuarty9: 69p/m

            • @nmc4911: ah great, did you ask on chat before hand? I am trying to get them to confirm via chat PRIOR to signing up. all 3 reps have said there is no discount..

              • @stuarty9: This is purely on the Telstra side. You probably cannot get anyone from JBHIFI to confirm it for you. From my impression of previous posts, not every rep of Telstra knows that. You may have to try online chat with different reps until someone is happy to give it to you without questions. I had the online chat after signing up.

                • @nmc4911: Yeah I've tried the online chat with Telstra 4 times now.
Every rep telling me they do not offer the discount. Keeping in mind that I have not yet signed up to the deal, I am trying to get confirmation from Telstra prior to signing up otherwise it isn't worth it for me..
You'd think the chat rep would just say yes we can offer the discount however you need to sign up first - this is what I was hoping for anyway. Otherwise there is no guarantee that I will get it..

  • Do I need to sign up to the plan before I can ask online chat for $20 off p/m?

    • same question

  • Reading terms and conditions the bonus data appears to end December 2022 so not even the full life of the plan

    • Op is this correct

    • +1

That's not correct, the bonus data lasts throughout the life of the plan.

31 December 2022 end date relates to the bonus data offer being available for new signups. After that, new signups would only get 60GB and no bonus.

      • -1

Is there a part in the t&cs that clarifies this? I can't seem to find anything.

        • There isn't. As per the advertising, you get 100GB for $69 Per Month for 12 Months when you signup.

The bonus terms you're looking at relate to when that bonus data will be available for new plan signups. If you want further clarification, give them a call.

        • I'll take the neg revoke thanks

        • It’s just the way that it’s worded. Just like it says Gift card ends 21st Sept. doesn’t mean the gift card expires then it just means the offer ends then.

  • Anyone know if Telstra will apply the $20 discount for the life of the plan if I was to go for the $600 gift card on the $69 24 months?

    • I was able to get Telstra to honour $10 per month for 12 months only. And that was for two new port in numbers. Kept trying for 24 months or $20 no go.

      • what did you say to get the discount?

      • Do you have other Telstra numbers currently or went in as a new Telstra user?

  • how long between signing and getting the gift card?

    • +1

Gift card is available as soon as your service is activated.

    • Got mine in-store right after they ported me over.

  • anyone know if there is a way to add on international calls/text?

    • Not applicable to these plans

  • I'm currently with Belong, if I port to another provider (e.g Kogan) am I able to go straight for this offer or do I need to wait 30 days?

    • +1

30 days, i did similar last time.

      • Thanks 😊 guess I'll churn soon then wait for the next deal hopefully soon

  • I was with Boost for a year, then on Gomo for only the past 9 days and was able to port over with this deal just fine.

  • Well fk me, can't claim the $20 port-in credit since I was a broadband customer 3 years ago…

    • +4

Update: After that waste of a phone call, I had to go through 2-3 webchat reps before I found a coherent one that was able to understand me and issue the credit instead of trying to sign me up for a new plan or telling me to contact JB Hi-Fi. Yay

  • +1

Damn, got tired of waiting and went for the $300 GC like 3 days ago..

  • The promotion ends 21st Sept for the 24M plan. Could I go into JBHIFI and sign up today, but only activate the service on 31st October?

  • Anyone know how long you need to be ported out for to take advantage of this deal?

  • +2

Was also able to land the $20 p/m discount. Thanks to all!

    • hi mate.

what were the exact words you used, and did you call or chat.

      • +2

Just said I would like the "$20 welcome credit for porting over from Optus" asked via the chat.
        No questions asked.

        • update - did this. it worked. only for 12 months though?

  • What's the best option at the moment for transfer out of Telstra (for 30 days)? Is it Woolworths? Similar network coverage from what I can see. I'm mainly Melbourne metro but occasionally regional Victoria. Or should I just take my chances and see if JB will hook me up anyway?

  • I still don't understand the point of these JB Mobile deals when they charge so much every month. How can you be better off on these plans notwithstanding the gift card?

  • +4

Just signed up to the 24 month $99 deal. Afterwards contacted Telstra on the chat app and asked for $20 per month welcome credit. Initially they offered 12 months but I said the contract was 24 months so they gave the $20 credit per month over 24 months. Happy days

    • Bloody noice.

    • Which part did you select on the app to chat to? General, accounts and billing?
Just got one rep who said they had reviewed the plan and they were seeing that there currently wasn't an available promo for the jb hifi and good guys byo $99 plan

      • I was on the General chat.

Just have a bit of confidence, maybe try another rep.

Just say you know a friend got it.

Also, the JB rep did tell me to contact Telstra to get the credit applied. His manager laughed at me about getting the credit on top of the gift card. I went for it and it came good.

  • Managed to get the $20 port in credit for 6 months and then $120 account credit for the other months.

  • I’m on the $69/month 12mo offer
Only managed to snag $10mo discount but to be fair I only spoke to a few agents, both of whom were pretty adamant $10 was the best they could do “as set by JB HIFI”.

Anyone know what to do if they only got given 60GB data instead of 100GB? Telstra is saying they can’t do anything about it

  • Is there a way to use the $99 plan for home internet? Can I just tether a phone by USB to my Asus router?

Will this provide a reliable connection?

  • Can we put the sim card in a 4G/5G modem for home internet use?

  • If i get my other half from optus to this, can I later merge her into my telstra account and share the data etc?

    • Read previous posts… I believe NO data sharing

  • Support keeps dogging me, They may have fixed the loop hole?

    • Follow up, i tried again today and the person seem to be able to add a discount no questions asked. Though we will have to wait till i receive the bill. It could be because i was not completely transferred over yet (received a welcome message this morning, despite being connected since Saturday)
