Referrer & Referee Each Get $25-$400 Amazon Gift Card for Enrolling in Qualifying Number of Classes @ Byju (WhiteHat Junior)

35

Walked past a popup store at Indooroopilly Shopping Centre, saw Byju advertised 1-on-1 tuition. I've since enrolled both my kids.

Pros:

  • 1-on-1 tuition
  • Cheap, $20 per hour, less with siblings, even less after Amazon gift card promotion
  • Flexible, you can change classes with at least 24 hours notice

Cons:

  • Online
  • Connection problem sometimes
  • Strong accent

Tried Kumon, all they seem to do was worksheets, no lessons taught. I haven't tried Northshore, I heard it's quite similar (?), comments welcomed. I prefer this format as I can see the teacher actually teaching.

Instead of spending money on after school care, I thought better off spending on extra tuition, get one hour back time alone for myself. Not quite the case, you still have to help your kids at the start, the worksheets and quizzes. It's getting better.

URL link goes to Byju. But referral goes to Whitehat Junior site (Byju bought Whitehat Junior according to Google).

Enrolment Number of Classes Amazon Gift Card Value
Personal Learning 6 to 47 $50
Personal Learning 48 to 79 $200
Personal Learning More than 80 $400
Group Learning 6 to 47 $25
Group Learning 48 to 79 $100
Group Learning More than 80 $200

These guys were scamming parents by promising them that their kids would learn how to code and make app at a young age.

Please do not share your details or believe this company Byjus and they scam you with marketing emails, calls for years to come. I have been scammed by them since 2019 Whitehat Junior when I innocently had approached them to check whether it's a real education company and that's the worst decision that I have ever taken in my life. Finally I ended up changing my mobile number to save myself. If you trust me then you are saving yourself or it's up to you if you want to mess with your future. They are a disgrace to India.

Want to buy free time and get clever kids? Here are my tips, based on the premise kids have to want to do it and general skills come before content. And experience.

    • Buy a shittonne or two of random Lego, second hand by the kilo on eBay.
    • Get a Switch and co-op games - you've got two kids, use them
    • Card games. Start simple and move quickly to Top Trumps. This is the path to all number, letter and board games

A tutor is getting a fraction of your $20 an hour. You can't expect much for that.

    • Kids need to learn free play

Lego is great but it's teaching them to think in a system

Try get them to solve problems .

To be fair if your kids aren't interested it's most likely the parents fault. They aren't stimulated because the parents just watch Netflix or too tired after work.

Wow, thanks for all the comments on Byju. Any comments on their classes vs Kumon vs Northshore or others from the OzB community? We're only doing the Maths component.

  • There are multiple threads and forum posts on how this is a scam.
