Not the best price ever - but a good price none-the-less. ~$250 less than RRP/other retailers. $6 delivery with AusPost to metro Melbourne - not sure if postage varies geographically.

Comes with a HomeBase 2. Compared to the Eufycam 2C Pro, this model has much longer battery life and an optional magnetic mount, but is a bit larger and doesn't have an integrated spotlight. Sensors are purportedly the same.

Specs can be found here: https://myanker.com.au/eufycam-2-pro-2k-4-camera-set.html

First deal post, hope I've done this right…

  • Are these the ones which you twist the camera to attach it to the screw on the mount?

Genuine question, has anyone ever had their security camera/s stolen before? I know installing it as high as possible and have it hidden is ideal but I'm not able to do that so I'm on the fence whether it's worth investing in cameras when they will be visible

    • +2

Security cameras should always be visible.
A visible camera would stop most would be morons for doing what they are about to do. I have had eufy screw in cameras outside for over a year now that are visible from the street and live in a suburb known for a lot of break-ins and no one has ever stolen them.
Just put it in a place where they cant go behind or around the cameras view to take it. If they have to be recorded by the camera to take it. They probably wont take it.

Once mounted you can activate the anti tamper feature. If someone moves it it will sound quite a loud alarm, as well as recording then of course.

If you press and hold the sync button it’ll delete everything off the home base and you’re good to go, steal away!

  • Is it the same as this set on gumtree? He reckons they retail for $799

No, that's the 2C Pro. Quick summary of differences is in my description.

      • Ok thanks, I always thought the 2C Pro was more expensive than the 2 Pro because it had the built in LED lights

        • No worries. Yeah it seems a weird omission to not have a light on the 2 Pro - in my case I have separate sensor lights everywhere I’ll be putting them, and value the long battery life:

Just a note, I have the 2c pro and the 2pro. The 2pro can tell the difference between my big dogs and me but the 2c pro can't. Just some extra info suggesting more internals may be different

    • I think they are the same cameras but the 2c pro has the LED light?

      • +2

That's what I thought (excluding the fact that the 2pro has larger batteries) but definitely a difference. I have 2 of each. There is also a different field of view 135 vs 140 so more going on but eufy don't give details

    Double what you should pay

  • How long does the battery last? Says 365 days but I doubt it.

    • I am about 90 days in since installation on full battery.

70percent battery left on a high traffic area, amd thats on maximum recording So it may last up to 300 days. But i doubt it, ill charge it back up at about 10p battery.

Even if i charge cameras twice a year, thats a win.

      • If you get the solar panel to charge the camera then you won't have to remove it to recharge unless the battery dies.

      • Assuming these things use lithium ion batteries - seems a safe assumption - you should ideally aim to charge sooner than that, if you want the batteries to last as long as possible (both total lifespan, and ability to retain a good capacity per charge as they age).

Draining lithium ion to near empty is quite bad for them (as is charging up to 100%, although that’s a hard/annoying to avoid) - IIRC the ideal range is something like 40-70%. Not practical to just keep them in that range, but I’d personally plan to charge up to 100% when they reach maybe 30% - it’s one of the reasons I wanted the 2 Pro over 2C Pro.

    • Used for 85 days, 79% battery left

    • Installed one just after Christmas. Battery currently at 27%.

  • I'm tossing up between this and the cheaper 2C Pro. I think I'm probably going to get solar panels for them. If getting solar panels, is there any real benefit to getting the 2 Pro version (as the double battery life wont matter)? I guess there's the magnetic mount (which I wouldn't be able to use anyway - no metal surfaces).

    • Perhaps some internal / processing differences based on quikstix’s comments above, but other than that I don’t believe there’s much else.

FWIW I believe (but don’t quote me on it) that the magnetic mount doesn’t require a metal surface - you still mount a base plate that comes with the camera to a surface using fixings, then the camera magnetically attaches to the base plate.

    • Its mostly double the battery life because it doesn't have a spotlight.
I was originally going to buy the 2 Pro until I saw night footage, which is essentially black and white or colour on the 2C Pro thanks to the spotlight.

      • Oh good point. I think I’ll go with the cheaper 2C for colour night footage. Also it’s double battery life because it has 4 batteries instead of 2 like the 2C.

OP you seem knowledgeable on this range of product, I'm hoping you can help answer a few quick questions please.

    1. Do they ever sell a multi-pack of cameras without the Homebase2? I ask because I (stupidly OR intelligently - it's up for debate) purchased the eufy doorbell which already comes with a Homebase 2. Searching in-store and online I can't seem to find anything other than buying individual single cameras which seems more expensive. Did I stuff up with the doorbell purchase therefore?

    2. It seems their cameras are only battery powered is that right? Are there no products that are hard wired network cable and POE? I'd rather run cables than have to remove to charge every once in a while

    • +1

I'm not that knowledgeable about them unfortunately, but will provide what info I can!

      1) As far as I'm aware, no. As you noted, you can buy a single camera on its own - otherwise, the multi-packs all come with a HomeBase. I believe the single cams have gone on large-enough sale at least once before that they were as cheap per camera as 3/4 camera multi-packs (while the multi-packs were also on sale) - but obviously can't promise if/when that'll happen again!

      2) This particular range of eufy cams (as well as the 2C's) are designed to be battery operated, although you can plug a solar panel into the charging port for continuous trickle charging. That would also suggest you could likely permanently connect a DC power brick to the charging port, if convenient.

Outside of this range there are loads of options that are designed to be hard-wired, be that to a mains socket or via PoE. And certainly considered the preferred option if possible (especially PoE, so you get a hard-wired network connection too). I unfortunately don't know a lot about options of this nature though - as much as I'd prefer PoE, the cabling was just too difficult for my use-case. Although I will say I've seen Reolink mentioned a lot as a good option for hard-wired cameras.

      Hope that helps.

      • Thank you for the detailed response! Much appreciated :)
