    Rolex knock off model
with this price range is really waste of $$$ in my opinion
there are plenty other brands doing the same and proofed to be good, but they cost around AUD $500

    • +6

A Seiko will last longer and not be such a knock off for a few hundred dollars.

I really like Orient, but both of mine broke, so no more for me.

If you need quartz, then a Casio Duro is a solid piece and available in lots of colour ways, including Pepsi, for less than $150.

Then put yourself on the years long list for a HELM watch. They are worth it.

I've gone through a heap of Aliexpress watches over the years. They're ok, but certainly nothing that I have really enjoyed.

      • I have a knock off and its lasted about 3 years through cricket, golf, tennis, pretty much all the stuff even the real thing isn't really meant to be used for. Still keeps great time. The Chinese factory movements are pretty good.

    • +16

It's a Miyota quartz movement inside a stainless steel case with a mineral crystal. There's not really much that can go wrong with it. You can spend another $450 on a brand name if you want, but I don't see the need.

Expensive watches are mostly just a statement now, a $20 casio will outlast most of them.

I got my SKX009 12 years ago. Dropped it many times and banged it against hard surfaces as well when moving around.

It stopped moving once and a guy checked it and got it working without replacing any parts for $60.

If you want a diver model without the worries or it failing get one of these.

Even the Seiko 5 range aren't too bad either.

      • +1

Seems like you're out of the loop with SKX prices, haha.

You can get a far superior Seiko (Alpinist, Sumo, etc) for less than the price of an SKX009 these days…and you better sit down before looking at SKX007 prices.

Or, if your budget is smaller, get yourself a classic field SNK809 which can be had for $100 now and then. Same movement as the SKX too.

        • Oh wow, they have spiked.

I find the sumo a bit too big on my wrist.

          • @SpeedRunnerLink: Not worth paying those prices, I also missed the boat too on the skx007.

They weren't even anything that special, just iconic (durable, reliable, perfect size, were cheap). Every aspect of them could be upgraded..

Was thinking the mini/baby turtles would be ok.. just got a Seiko tuna solar for $205 for a good reliable beater, and already got a steeldive so that's enough for that style).

I doubt its 316L stainless. Material cost more than the watch worth

    • +8

The Casio Duro used to sell for around the same price not long ago so if Casio can do it why couldn't this brand?
Also plenty of reviews on youtube.

    • +1

316L Stainless is actually pretty cheap all up as it isn't heat treated. It's about $5 a kg.
It's easy to machine and very corrosion resistant. You could cheap out and use 304 on a watch but we're talking fractions of cents here.

  • The description on the product page Case Diameter: 41mm. Isn't accurate?

  • -2

Looking at the reviews it does actually ship with the weird logo. DHgate is good source for watches that are shown with a weird logo but arrive with a different one.

    • +3

The logo is the Addiesdive logo. Whether it's weird or not is a matter of opinion.

      • +2

With respect I believe you missed the point.

        • +1

No I got it but I don't recommend buying fakes.

          • +2

@WatchNerd: I mean take a look at this deal. It is clearly a fake Rolex and it would be silly to argue otherwise.

            • +11

@DingoBlue: It's not considered a fake unless it is branded as Rolex (like you claim DHgate do). It's a homage watch.

              • @cashie: An homage takes inspiration from something. This is a straight knock-off.

              • +1

@cashie: Its not a "homage" when it has a cyclops. Its obviously pretending to be a rolex, i.e. a fake rolex.

            • +4

@DingoBlue: I love nice watches but tbh I also like the idea of buying fakes just to spite the watch collecting culture.

              • @gakko: Gen owners would probably just chuckle at these, but they tend to bark like mad at super reps.

Rep addicts keep saying nwbig all the time and automatically label watches like these dhgate shitster,

While you "homage" guys spite people of conviction with landfill.

The triangle of hate is complete.

  • +1

hey @WatchNerd, know where i can get cheaper Automatic Tissot's? Dads been talking about them, dropping hints im sure and would like to get one for his bday

  • -2

    get pagani design

    • Love my Pagani's but they aren't $58.40

      • Only another $52 for the PD Daytona with sapphire, although this is tempting and looks like a bargain for the price. I just received my pagani and it’s currently my daily beater.

        • +2

Yeah the Daytona is one of my favourites along with my Moon Watch…

          • @cashie: Is there a preferred vendor for this one?

            • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: Pagani design official. I've got the Daytona as well, great watch and looks a lot more expensive than it is. Features a Seiko VK63 mecha quartz which is pretty good It's this exact one:

    • been ages since we seen a good PD bargain - been keeping an eye on the PD speedy but been floating around $130 pre tax for quite a few months now.

    • Agreed, by far the best for homages
Sapphire crystal is a big plus.

    • +1

Completely different category lol, would 100% recommend the Addies/Steeldive (basically the same) AUTOMATIC sub for $110 over the PD. I have both and the SD has much better lume, better case finisning and nicer AR. Crazy how little people know here about Alixpress watches, yet sprout generic brand comments.

      • +1

Yes, lots of great affordables in the WUS AliExpress thread and r/ChineseWatches.

  • +3

Unrelated post, In this age I would wear a traditional watch over a smartwatch only as a fashion statement.
And If I am going to show off, I wouldn’t want a cheap no name brand on my wrist.

Having said that, The price is good for what is on offer. Good deal.

    • +4

I dont want a smart watch simply because i dont like to charge one more thing.

    • +3

And I can’t understand why so many people have a smartwatch. I totally understand how it’s an upgrade for many, such as for monitoring fitness, health, or occupations where it isn’t always practical to pull out a phone. However, the vast majority of people I know use it as a regular watch and always have their phone on them. I have many automatics mostly divers) and they’re pretty tough. Their life span will far exceed a smartwatch which will quickly become redundant as technology evolves. That makes quality autos and quartz watches affordable long term. If one of my watches breaks I can buy new parts and fix most of them myself. I can also modify any part of the watch. Can’t really say the same things about smartwatches. Don’t get me started on charging.

hmmmm a 1* Rolex Submariner or 350 of these?
    Its a tough call……

    • +3

You can sell the Rolex much easier later on to close to what you originally paid.

You won't with 350 of these.

    • If you could get your hands on a Rolex Submariner, you'd be able to immediately sell it for a profit through the right channels.

  • -1

Would get a Pagani over this personally for another $50.

    • me too, but it depends what the buyer is after.

    • Yuck! Pagani lume is utter garbage compared to those!

      • Usually it's pretty poor, but the one i linked below is a bit better with lume on the bezel too.
If you want good lume get a steeldive or Seiko

        • If you want good lume get a steeldive or Seiko

          or a lum-tec ;)

          • @SBOB: Any quality lume of your choice:)
Bgw9, Lumi Bright, super luminova on the Oris is always pleasant.

  • +1

Personally I'd recommend spending a bit extra on this One, upgraded lume and much nicer bracelet and Clasp
