    I'd say probably not:

    Also:

Blunt items that are able to be used to bludgeon or threaten to bludgeon a person
pieces of wood, metal or any other materials big enough to threaten a person

No chance OK for carry-on. Fine for checked luggage.

I can’t really see an issue with a wooden mallet. I’ve had a look over their prohibited good page and it doesn’t mention mallets anywhere. But you could always get on their website and click on the “Ask Jess” and get confirmation from customer service…

You can’t just throw it in your checked luggage?

Maybe package it up and sent it home via AusPost/courier?

Or, just tell them it’s your protection mallet, because nothing stops a bad guy with a mallet like a good guy with a mallet…

Or, just tell them it’s your protection mallet,

      "It's my emotional support mallet"

Put a little Hi-vis yellow vest on it with the words “Service Mallet” on it…

    • Or, just tell them it’s your protection mallet, because nothing stops a bad guy with a mallet like a good guy with a mallet…

What about a good guy with a pair of nail clippers?

      • The only way to stop a good guy with a pair of nail clippers is an overzealous security screening officer.

    • You can’t just throw it in your checked luggage?

Do they come with one free checked in baggage allowance

I think I will use OZ post instead to be safe. it's a beautiful mallet, handmade, don't want it to end up in someone else's workshop.
      Thanks guys

      • Interesting that you think sending it via AusPost is safer than taking it via Jetstar checked baggage…

oh I don't have checked luggage, only carry-on. I don't want to risk it if it got confiscated. that's what I meant

        Same in business.

        • thought they are pretty blunt - its like a butter number with a curved front.

You'll be fine as carry on.

    • Actually going by home affairs website, I'm wrong and trying to bring a bludgeoner on board…

      • yes, wasn't allowed a fold up umbrella as carry on as said it could be used as a truncheon.

This is not United states of America, where one requires a gun or similar weapon to be entitled to feel safe.

  • Why do you need to take a wooden mallet as carry on?

  • Bam-Bam?

  • OP's next post:

Only if the seatbelt sign is switched off.
