      Telstra shop told me there’s no roaming available on prepaid plans.
      Not nice finding out halfway through my Telstra 365 days plan there’s no way I can use it overseas :(

        If you just need to make/receive calls to/from Australia then Telstra does have Wifi calling that works overseas.

          Nope.

          You'd need to Port out to someone else. Lose your existing account. Go back in.

          Can't recall any deals for prepaid renewals here. It's always starter packs.

          I guess only an issue if you can carry over data…. Like say Woolies does with me. Otherwise just a small hassle switching twice.

              @Celebie: All good, happy to help. I switched sims often for a while…. now just stay on Woolies $20pm.

              I'm not aware of any limitations. Only JB for plans and gift card bonuses (a month usually)

              My suggestion would be to simply get this, presuming it has a decent expiry date for activation (atleast a month).. which it does….

              Go to Woolies/Coles and look for another companies starter pack that's on sale, 99% likely you'll find something with a reasonable credit for a month.

              Use that, then Port back to this Telstra sim after a few weeks.

      I’ve had success using a Telstra prepaid starter pack to renew my existing Telstra prepaid with no extra sim required. No port out port in was needed. Last attempted earlier this year.

      I simply just activated the new sim, noted down the new number, then asked Telstra to change my new sim number to my existing Telstra prepaid number. They deactivated my existing service and my new sim got changed to have my existing number instead. Took a less than an hour and was painless.

      I do this (buy discounted starter packs) instead of paying $300 a year for recharges.

      At present only Telstra prepaid plan mobile plan has 5G access: the telco's $60 recharge. All other Telstra prepaid plans are limited to 4G.

    Hi all, hoping for some guidance. This seems like a good deal to me, but not sure if I am missing something key here. I’m all new to prepaid cards but having relative coming to live for 1 year- this seems to be good given it’sTelstra unlimited local calls and text and 200gb of data (relative won’t be using data much). When I go and set up a post paid plan then it’s always more expensive. Am I right to assume the downside is after 12 month when it’s expired then it no longer becomes a good deal or if you need to recharge it then becomes expensive. Thank you in advance!
