Hey OzB. Another one for the Joseph and Joseph fanboys/girls. Honestly not quite sure why I'm buying it. My wife doesn't want it and I'll have to find somewhere to shove it but it's 74% off! Does seem to have good ratings though. Only the Grey/White available at this price. Price matching Dick Smith/Kogan.

Edit: Looks like it's back on. May need to manual select Amazon AU as the seller.

Hopefully inflation keeps skyrocketing. Almost nothing will stop OzBargainers spending their seemingly limitless disposable incomes

  • Thanks OP, purchased two for the bathrooms 👍

I thought this review was great - "You can see directly in both, it's weird." :D

So it's basically for take away coffee cups right?
    Oh it's for the bathroom…

    Glory hole box

    • +1

      Don't look what's inside.

  • Looks really small, depends on how you use it. But why would you use it in the bathroom?

    • +6

      Dementia, possibly

    • +3

I'm guessing this would be great if you have a "modern bathroom", the ones you see on the Block where the toilet is next to where you shower and brush your teeth. You can recycle your loo rolls on one side and throw out your dental floss and razor blades on the other.

      • +2

A solution to a problem that doesn't exist?

        • +4

I think it's fine in theory. There are lots of recyclable things in the bathroom that would end up being mixed in with your toothpaste tubes and whatever else you throw away. Some people are really pedantic about things. Like me.

  • +3

I don’t get it! Looks like you have to empty it right after placing a bottle of shampoo.

    • Yeah a little impracticable is what I thought too. I already feel like I'm always emptying the bin. Plus different sides will need emptying at different points. I normally like the J&J stuff but really not convinced on this design.

My wife doesn't want it and I'll have to find somewhere to shove it

Front door. Stick the umbrella in it.

    • That is an idea. I'll have to see how big it is. I would like to use it for the bathroom ideally as right now we have loo rolls all over the floor. Basically right now it's whoever blinks loses. I do sometimes get fed up at looking at them and cave in then take them to the recycling bin.

      • +3

I don't get this. We have a recycling box in the corner of our kitchen/dining area. We empty it when it's full outside. If I change the toilet roll, I'll take the wrapper and cardboard (we use Who Gives A Crap) with me when I leave the bathroom. I couldn't stand leaving cardboard rolls just sitting around the toilet.

Putting this in the bathroom is just creating one more bin that needs to be emptied. If everyone just takes their recycling to the one box/place inside the house, that's then only one thing to empty to the outside recycling bin.

        Why over-complicate things?

        • I live in a two story house. If I only had the one kitchen bin I'd be constantly going up and down the stairs. Annoying and wastes time. It makes sense having an upstairs bin.

Edit: not this bin though, it's weird.

          • @b2dz: I live in a two storey house too. Simply leave thing at the top/bottom of the stairs so they go up/down next time someone goes up/down. Not hard.

            • @placard: I'll assume it wasn't you that negged me for just disagreeing with you?

Anyway, you have contradicted yourself here and basically you're now agreeing with me. You said "I'll take the wrapper and cardboard with me when I leave the bathroom" and " If everyone just takes their recycling to the one box/place inside the house, that's then only one thing to empty to the outside recycling bin."

That to me sounds like you go straight to the downstairs bin.

Now you're saying you put all your upstairs recycling/rubbish at the top of the stairs.

Great idea. Guess where my upstairs bin is? At the top of the stairs.

              • @b2dz: Hehe, no I didn't neg you, was already negged.

I guess in general I don't like having multiple bins around the place, rather a central spot. In terms of "leave it at the top of the stairs", I'm regularly going up/down the stairs anyway so it's not like rubbish sits there for days on end.

Literally I'll go to the toilet upstairs then come back downstairs straight after, I'll bring the toilet roll with me.

My wife doesn't want it and I'll have to find somewhere to shove it

    Married life problems huh?

    • Luckily I do have places to shove things. ; )

We used to share a 1 room place in Tokyo before we moved back to Brisbane so where we are now is very luxurious in comparison. : )
Still doesn't stop her from losing it from time to time. I do my best to keep her happy.

      • +2

        Whoosh

        • +3

I get it. I don't mind anyway. It's probably better this way. She's not the type to get worked up if I find other ways to deal with things.

    • probably wife doesn't want it because you're trying to shove it. Be gentle

  • +1

have one.. find it super annoying with the small openings and separate compartments :\

  • its back in stock, not sure if i shuld buy

  • +5

Have read through all the comments, still unsure what the product is.

    • Store snacks in it!

  • Have one in my office and honestly, I use it the opposite way to the intended use picture (rubbish bag under the larger opening and the tub for recycle) and it makes it bearable.

Very small, but for this room it works its intended use. papers, sticky tape, dead pens, all that stuff fits fine and will empty weekly with the normal bin cycle but anything big doesn't have a chance of sitting in there.

  • +1

cant wait to empty this after putting only one bottle in it

    • +1

Please don’t exaggerate. It can actually fit one and a half bottles

  • I've owned this for a few years the separate compartments allow separation between recyclable and non-recycled.

Use a small plastic bag in the removable tub makes it easier to empty the non-recycled. The recyclable larger section holds a few large bottles plus some empty loo rolls e.g. 500mL Listerine, 660mL Head & Shoulders the opening just wide enough to fit bottles of that size.

  • A hole for #1s and a hole for #2s?

  • WTF?!?! My order is no longer there?

    • Hmm. Don't hear of that happening very often. What time did you order?

Maybe contact customer support? Usually they are pretty good.

  • More stylish landfill
