  Bought 2 x 18TB Seagate EXOS drives a month ago and one of them failed within a week from I/O errors. Very reluctant to buy HDD from Amazon US, considering how poorly packaged the drives were.

    Thats why you buy the WD external drives and shuck them, they come is a box and the encloser inside has rubber mounts. I've had no issues so far after 6 months and more for eight 18Tb drives.

  bought WD 12 x 18TB from Amazon US. all drives were packed well, and 0 DOA or problems so far (been 4 months).
  All drives were NON OEM were all confirmed as under warranty by WD.
  They did warn me its abit of a lottery on Amazon US, if you end up with OEM drives there is no Warranty.
