All three colours available at this price. Camels show that black and grey are at their cheapest, while white got all the way down to $1923.41 in April.

Possible bonus, Shopback have 3.5% cashback right now for Electronics (Includes Bluetooth Speakers, Headphones, Speakers). Definitely worth a shot.

These are way outside of my price range so someone else will need to comment about what these are like. Price seems pretty good (right now) compared to other places on google. Can anyone fill us in if the price for these varies much?

Are they 5x better than my JBL 305P II?

      Yes

It would be nice to be able to splash out this kind of money on audio equipment. For now it's just a pipe dream.

Unless you acoustically treat ur room, you wont be getting the full audiophile experience.
Thats why i got a sound bar instead

          • +2

@minatosensei: You can do a lot before you acoustically treat a room. Not even talking about money. Here's a priority list, not definitive.

            0- source component
            1- amplifier/receiver
            2- speakers
            3- speaker placement
4- lifestyle furnishings (rugs, couches, bookshelves)
            5- digital room correction
            6- acoustic treatment
            7- gear upgrades
            8- dedicated listening/viewing room
            9- new home

So yeah, you don't have to settle for a soundbar immediately. Though it does take care of a whole lot of things at once.

@E4xtream: Precisly, i went for conveniance and affordability.
I studied audio engineering and did a unit on acoustic treatment. So im aware of whats required and costs.
So if you have the money then great, but if not a soundbar will be enough for most ppl

            • +3

@E4xtream: What's the reasoning behind prioritising amps/receivers over speakers? A speaker upgrade makes wayy more difference than an amp upgrade.

              • @Bacons: Just meant that you have to get the amp/receiver first, assuming you're starting from scratch. Not for upgrading what you already have.

                • @E4xtream: Even then, you usually buy amps to match speakers not the other way around but I won't judge you

            • @E4xtream: DAC is also very important.

              • @Black Hole: Not definitive order as I said. I buy the amp first because this is to pair with my TV and gaming needs. And gaming always comes first. Then movie consideration. Then music.

Then speakers which can be anything at long as they are kef.

Here's a priority list, not definitive.

actually, your list should begin with reading "Secrets" about the consumer audio business.

              • @AlexF: That is a rather insightful write-up. Thanks for sharing!

                • @Moe Szyslak:

                  insightful write-up

yup… audio industry shills, in all guises (magazines, bloggers, websites operating in quid pro quo manner) are up there with Advertising Executives. Requires an insider to shed light.

              • @AlexF: Interesting write up but nothing surprising in there or that would fundamentally change my mind. Seems applicable to almost any consumer industry.

                • @E4xtream:

applicable to almost any consumer industry.

yeah, nuh - no other industry is as reliant on provable bullshit.

                  • @AlexF: Dude, the guy didn't mention anything about bullshit. And, every industry has copious amounts of bullshit.

Paid about $1800 for grey import LS50 Metas about 6 months ago, but this is a great price for local stock - most retailers keep them around the rrp.

Fantastic speakers, but I'd say for most setups you'd want to utilise a sub.

    • why the local stock premium over grey import?

So glad I got my 2 x Google Home Max speakers they were on sale for $200.

Oh stop it please….you cannot compare Google speakers to these KEF's

ELAC Unifi Reference is better value for money

    • I agree. It's a warmer sound and much more pleasing to my ears.

  • Wish Amazon would do similar deal for R3 but they rarely have them in stock.
