Can you use Citi PayAll to get extra points with this card?

    • +3

Yep can confirm - you can 🙂

Earn rewards on your everyday payments - Pay and earn Points using your Citi Credit Card with Citi PayAll.

You can set up any of your everyday payments via the Citi Mobile® App and earn Citi reward Points at the same time, including big ticket items or ones that you couldn’t earn on before. More Points, why not?

With Citi PayAll, set up your rent, taxes, education fees, property management fees, childcare, miscellaneous bills and more and be sure to earn Points on every transaction. And the good news is that the number of points you will earn is uncapped.

To get started, set up single or regular Citi PayAll payments by transferring funds directly from your credit card account to the bank account of the payee held with an Australian financial institution. For all Citi PayAll payments set up between 1 April 2021 to 31 October 2022, the Citi PayAll fee will be reduced to 0%.

The more Points you earn, the faster you’ll be able to redeem and treat yourself or get to where you’re going sooner.

      • +1

I have this card. I got an email extending fee-free PayAll for another year:

We previously notified you of a change to the fee for all Citi PayAll payments set up between 1 April 2021 to 31 October 2022. We have decided to extend this as follows:

        1. For all Citi PayAll payments set up between 1 April 2021 to 31 October 2023 (the Period), the Citi PayAll fee will be reduced to 0%:

        2. Any recurring Citi PayAll payments set up during the Period will not incur the Citi PayAll fee for the duration in which those payments are scheduled to occur.

        3. Any recurring Citi PayAll payments set up prior or after the Period will be charged the standard Citi PayAll fee of 2% of the amount of the Citi PayAll payment. This fee will apply to all recurring payments made for the duration in which those payments are scheduled to occur.

It’s a nice little card. You can make the minimum spend just through rent payments. Personally I’m going to keep it for the full year, because it’s the only card that pays out points tor rent payment. Velocity points are good for diversification from Qantas too.

      • +1

Wow so it means we can "pay" $3000 into our own bank accounts using PayAll to knock out the card's spend requirement in one go?

        • Hi mate, is this confirmed? I'm looking at the Citi Prestige Credit Card and was wondering if I can use PayAll to my own bank account to meet the $7500 spend immediately. Thanks.

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/728311

          • @xdigger: no idea but worth a try since you don't actually lose anything. except maybe this:

We may cancel or suspend your right to participate in the Rewards Program including the ability to earn and redeem Points if your Account is in default or we reasonably believe that the Points were not properly earned (including that a transaction processed as a Citi PayAll Payment was not to pay the payee for goods or services).

            • @FeZZa21: but to hide the transfer you could use a made up business account name since that's never required for a successful EFT, and I'm pretty sure they can't determine who a bank account number belongs to

          • +1

@xdigger: I tried paying myself almost 2k via PayAll and it worked, got an email few days later from Citi saying I met the points and they needed my velocity number. I used a made-up name for the bank account as only BSB and account number is used for a transfer.

    • +1

Can anyone explain how PayAll is used? I'd really appreciate that.

  • +5

How much is the 60,000 Velocity Points in term of kangaroo dollar?? $0 annual fee is great. Thanks OP

    • +2

Worth $480-$720 (0.8c-1.2c per point - as per Ozbargain classifieds)

      • +1

Wow, this is truly a good deal OP! Spot on

      • 60000 worth for AUD $480- 720?

        • That's how much the points are worth if sold (against terms) on classifieds

          • @ilikedeals: I see, I didn't know that… Just applied city premier card, as it has offer 600 cashback when spending 2k, annual fee .150, so would 450$ Cashback

            • @coast666: Using Apple Pay or Samsung Pay doe, does that mean it's no good for bills?

      • Just a chance your account gets suspended selling points

      • Sorry what do you mean by classifieds? Because it is worth less than $300. I just churned Citi CC last month and these buggers are decommissioning their travel portal from September. So the only option for me was to pay my statement balance was via Citi Rewards points.

And they were worth 21000 points - $100

        • Sorry what do you mean by classifieds?

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/classified

And they were worth 21000 points - $100

          You got ripped.

          • @bohn: Lol I highly doubt anyone will offer $500 for that many points. Mine was $0 annual fees one, so will hardly call that getting ripped ;)

        • The Classifieds on OzBargain. But it doesn’t matter since you can’t post there until you’ve been here for a year

    • 19500 Velocity points for a $100 Coles Gift Card (one example of many gift cards) is another option for those not interested in flights

    • +3

Melbourne to London return in Feb 2023 is 92,000 points. So 2/3s of one of the longest return flights in the world.

  • Is current card holder (not this one) eligible?

    • +1

Yes. You can have 2 Citi cards. Just make sure you have applied > 6 months since your last to be safe.

      • I have a qantas premier card.It is about 10 months now. So I can still get bonus points for this card? Cannot find any information anywhere.

        • You will be fine. I've had signature and this card before. Got bonuses for both. Feel free to write to their Citi chat during work hours. I find them quite responsive.

          • +2

@starburstyellow: I've the free-for-life Signature (now calls Premier) card. Before covid, i was able to applied Rewards and/or Premier card. So, for almost 3 to 6 months a year between 2018-2020, i was having 2 Citibank CCs same time. They were very easy to approve my applications. But not this year, for first time , they rejected me within 24hr applied for a measy $6K card. They've told me that i can try reapply after 3 months.

            • @timhn: Interesting. Last year I got the virgin money together with the Signature free for life at same time. Both $15k cards no issues. Haven't applied any this year due to home loan refinance. But good point you brought up your circumstances.

              • @starburstyellow: Just want to correct. My last card with Citibank was applied in late 2021 and closed in Mar 2022.

On that last one, i had requested for the annual fee refund, and got about $150 (out of initial $175). That was the only time i asked for fee refund.

Whose know, may be it placed me under "watchlist" with Citibank.

  • Also cashback on purchases coming November

    • Link/source? Very keen to look into this!

      • An email from Citi. Ive got the same card.

        • Can you upload a screenshot or give us some more details if possible? Thanks im advance.

          • @Bowchkawowow: Important information regarding a new feature on your Citi Rewards Card.

Read the terms and conditions for My Cashback.

            Yours sincerely,

            The Customer Service Team

  • +1

Thanks OP. Been looking at this deal for the last week or so for my next card in rotation. Looks to be the only $0 sign-up offer going at the moment.

    • Indeed, could not find any other $0 sign up offers (apart from CommBank cashback deals)

      • Do you or anyone know if signing up for Citibank deals preclude you from getting NAB deals now and vice versa?

        • Haven't heard of this one - it looks like the credit card deals are still treated separately?

      • +1

If you are a Westpac customer they have a similar offer on their Velocity Platinum card although you have to pay a $50 rewards program fee for 70k velocity points, the annual fee in first year is waived for existing customers.

There is also Black card with higher bonus points, higher fee (still reduced for existing customers), higher spend requirement and credit limit.

They also have Qantas instead of Velocity with seemingly the same cards/bonuses, just different program.

Also the same but with Westpac Altitude points although not sure why you'd choose this over the frequent flyer ones unless you're straight up looking to redeem gift cards.

        • You can open a Westpac Choice banking account, and open the free Altitude Qantas the same day. I did. (There is a $50 ‘Qantas fee’ though)

There’s a similar offer open for BankSA.

          • @DustyAfternoon: Yeah, you can become a customer for free and it's relatively simple, hence why I posted above.. not sure why it got negged lol

    • Just curious for card churning do you have any permanent one for direct debit? and AMEX?

      • +2

I keep a Coles Rewards MasterCard in my wife's name for our "keep card" for direct debits. $99 per year fee but probably has the best value points earn with 2 Flybuys points for each dollar spent. Got it with a 100,000 free Flybuys pioint offer to begin with (I got it first then cancelled, then applied for my wife in case any points professionals are asking).
I think they have a 40-60k free points deal on at the moment if interested.

      • My main debit card is Up bank. Nothing fancy just a nice app to use, and no overseas purchase fees so I used it to withdraw from ATMs when travelling instead of Citibank.

    • +2

St George/BankSA/BoM has a no-1st-year-fee offer for existing customers.

ANZ and NAB/Citibank pro-rata annual fees, so closing a card very early has minimal cost or even zero cost in some cases.

  • +1

Comments from previous thread that may be helpful.

  • Any cancellation fees on this if you want to end it after 11 months ? Would it be totally free ?

    • +1

Why would there be a cancellation fee? None that I can see

  • can points be exchanged for gift cards?

    • Citi Rewards points, yes. Velocity points, yes. (You're not earning Velocity points with this one; you need to convert 2.5 Citi Rewards points for 1 Velocity point)

      • Customers who have previously received or are entitled to receive the 60,000 Velocity Points will not be eligible to receive another 60,000 Velocity Points. To be eligible to receive 60,000 Velocity Points, you must apply for the Citi Rewards Card by 30 November 2022, then spend a minimum of $3,000 on eligible purchases using your new card within 90 days from approval. Eligible purchases exclude Cash Advances, Balance Transfers, Special Promotions, interest, fees, refunds, Chargebacks and spend on a Linked Diners Club Card. We will request your Velocity membership number from you via email within 8 weeks from meeting the spend criteria. The 60,000 Velocity Points will be credited to your Velocity account within 10 weeks from us receiving your Velocity membership number. Your Citi Rewards Card must remain open and in good standing for the Velocity Points to be awarded. If you do not provide us with your Velocity membership number within 14 weeks from us requesting it, the Velocity Points will be forfeited. Membership of Velocity is your responsibility. Velocity membership and points earn and redemption are subject to the Velocity Terms and Conditions, as amended from time to time, available at velocityfrequentflyer.com. Please note that if you have a balance transfer you will not be entitled to any interest free days on retail purchases. This means that all spend will be charged interest at the applicable annual percentage rate. This offer is valid until 30 November 2022. Post this advertised date; we reserve the right to continue, withdraw or change the offer at any time without notice.

Seems like they will be crediting the Velocity points directly to your Velocity account

        • Yes, but this card doesn't earn Velocity points. It earns Citi Rewards points.

          • +2

@kerfuffle: Yes - only the 60000 Velocity Points bonus will be directly credited to the cardholder's Velocity account as Velocity Points

        • I read these T&Cs and was not sure what it actually means. I have received 2 x 100k velocity points with the previous offers for the same card. Does this make me ineligible for this offer???? I wanted to call the CS but haven't had a chance yet.

  • +9

If I've held a Citibank Premier card in the last 12 months am I still eligible for the points?

    • +2

I'm curious about this too… website states: "Customers who have previously received or are entitled to receive the 60,000 Velocity Points will not be eligible to receive another 60,000 Velocity Points."

Can anyone confirm if you have held a citibank rewards card, can you still receive the bonus points? And if so, how long after your last card has been cancelled.

      • +1

Yes also curious. I cancelled a citibank card in June that I'd had for just under a year. I might do a live chat with them tomorrow if nobody knows.

  • Got this card via the previous offer and everything works fine - got my points at Month 2.

Just note that if you spend via the linked Diners Club Card, it takes twice your available balance per purchase for up to ten days - especially if you transact overseas.

    • Did you get Citi Rewards points that you converted to Velocity, or did you get Velocity points directly?

      • Citi points

    • if you transact overseas.

From personal experience, I suggest being very cautious about using the Diners for foreign currency transactions. Depends on how much the points are worth to you.

      • correct and agreed! had to use the card as a back up as my Macquarie debit was not working in the UAE for some reason during my stay.

  • This or StGeorge/BankOfMelbourne/BankOfSA credit card deal 60k Qantas points with $0 first year annual fee.

    • Depends on whether you fly QF or VA more

    • Qantas points are crap. To be honest with you, I never collect them, too many required for redemption.

So this is good, keep as Velocity points to redeem on Virgin, Singapore or other airline partners, or convert to krislfyer miles.

      • Qantas points are crap. To be honest with you, I never collect them,

I agree , but during periods of no decent velocity deals, I get the good qantas deals that are available.
Will be able to use them for something.

      • It does cost more but they are also easier and cheaper to obtain than Velocity. But redemptions for QFF at the moment is very limited so just saving up the points until more routes are available.

  • +1

    how about this
    https://www1.citibank.com.au/CardsOnline/citi-prestige?cid=A…

300k points and $350 fee first year

    • +1

Must spend $7,500 on eligible purchases within 60 days from approval.

      • Keep in mind you can use payall and transfer money to an investment account or whatever so the minimum spend isn't that prohibitive

    • 300k Citi reward Points, not Velocity - that's the catch 🙂

    • This is a pretty huge deal as well actually. 300k citi = 120k velocity or 100k krisflyler plus this card comes with unlimited priority pass lounge access which alone would be worth the annual fee imo

  • +1

Anyone managed to hold the Citi Qantas Premier and Velocity Rewards cards at the same time?

Heard they don’t really like approving both and you might need to cancel one before applying for the other?

    • +1

emailed today to find out and they got back to me with this response

"Please be advised that before your account can be assessed for another
credit facility, your existing account must be open for at least 9
      months.

For reference, any new application will be subject for review and
      approval.

Once approved, your will be eligible to the attached offer for the
product that you have applied for."

  • If you’re a existing secondary card holder are you still eligible

    • yes

  • Nice, great timing. Citibank is next on my churn list. Cheers, OP!

    • Any other great cards out there, to churn? 🙂

      • +2

I just rotate cards usually either with 6k or 15k limit depending on current promo/offer - Citibank, Qantas, Westpac, Anz FF/Rewards, Amex, Nab, Virgin, St. George.

        • No Suncorp, HSBC or Commbank on your hit list?

          • @timhn: Probably because those ones don't have any better offers at the times I go looking to churn.

        • How often do you do this?

          • @park it: I usually have 2-3 cards at a time.

            • @docpol: How often do you apply to new ones? Been looking to alternate between low and high limit ones as well.

              • @park it: It varies. Probably every 2-3 months or so. Sometimes longer.

  • When is the expiry date for this deal?

    • +1

"This offer is valid until 30 November 2022. Post this advertised date; we reserve the right to continue, withdraw or change the offer at any time without notice."

  • Does this one has foreign currency transaction fee?
