  • this seems like a very basic version. i think it's main selling point is it's look. the hose attachment seems different from all the other models as well, so not sure if it is compatible with the rest of the standard containers/bags.

    • This has roll storage in the body with an integrated cutter. Makes it convenient and neat.

    • attached the manual, https://cdn.productreview.com.au/document/entry-product-manu…
Can you please help confirm if the hose is standard? It was probably launched in the same year as vs4500, was widely sold last year, probably standard.

  • Was going to uograde my aldi one of 5 years. No stock left for C&C in Victoria :(
Only at two stores in NSW nationwide.

im still tossing up whether the FoodSaver functions are worth it… or the Inkbird ones will do. or go aussie with the Luvele versions 🤦🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️

  • +2

prob get this one for $7 more. esp with the locking function i.e. one handed lever as opposed to pressing each side closed with two hands. also hose attachment is the standard one.

    • Thanks!

      • no worries 😁 just note this version doesn't have the in-built roller storage other models have.

  • Ahhh thanks again. Was abt to pulled the trigger but now I think i need to consider my options with more research now, given yiur quick summary of different features in the market, including supporting local brands 😄. That's why I love the OzB community!

  • FACTORS I AM CONSIDERING:

    • how to open and close it e.g. lever or two handed push

    • in-built storage roll

    • in-built cutter

    • hose accessories (if so, in-built or attachment)

    • modes e.g. dry, moist, pulse, marinade, sous vide, canister etc

    • Price (obvs)

    • what is your current one and your potential choice for an upgrade?

      • most basic version would be the Kmart Anko. but my aim is to get the Sunbeam/FoodSaver VS3198. As mentioned before, higher model number with FoodSaver doesn't mean 'better'. I'm just tryna figure out what that extra Sous Vide function does. obvs the price jump is extreme from Kmart, but I'm banking on my negotiation skills and discount vouchers to bring that price down as much as I can 😅

        • honestly can't find anything about what the actual difference is between Dry, Moist, Sou Vide functions i.e. what the device does differently for each function. I've seen ppl just tilt/bend the bag so liquids don't get suck up, and use the manual/pulse function (or just stop the vac process when they want)… in which case, Kmart Anko would do the job. esp if just starting out (which i think we both are).

  • deal atm…
under $300 with (apparently $200 worth) of extras 🤷🏾‍♂️

  • actually, i dunno about that deal, the photo os the VS3198.. but when I clicked on it, the photo changed to the VS7850 🤔

  • VS3198 seems on sale though…

    $252

    $279

and JB have their $30 off $300 deal as well. I'll prob pull the trigger now, get it over and done with. Price match thn add extra to get over $300 to use the promo code.

    • yeah, good idea, did you buy it? is it really worth it by comparison with below 2?

      VS2198 $173.20
      VS7850 $253

      https://www.kitchenwarehouse.com.au/FoodSaver-Cut-Seal-Vacuu…

      • yeah, i ended up getting the VS3198. I read a bit more about the functions and decided it was worth it, but i stacked the fuk outta vouchers and codes so got a ridiculous price.

VS7850 is around the same RRP, but without the extra modes, so went with the VS3198.

Still unsure if the model naming convention, but the VS2198 seems like a much more basic version then the VS3198. It has Dry and Moist modes only (2 vs 5). The hose attachment isn't inbuilt like the other two models. The cutter is inside, instead of on the front/outside. And it's plastic as opposed to stainless steel (according to their website).

All up to you which ones are Pros and Cons, lol.

        • thanks for the details, I hesitated between VS2198 and VS3198, they're new models, I have JB gift card as well, I will just blindly follow you..

          • @Jeff1001: well, I'm constantly told i overthink things 😅 so tryna put it to some good use 🤓 i was gonna send you my spreadsheet, but now, i think I'll post all my notes in a forum at some point, leave it there for others 😊 but yeah, the jump from 2198 to 3198 is pretty massive, and I'm sucker for getting the model with the most bells and whistles (if i can afford it) 😋 i got the containers for the marinade function. i was gonna get some extra 'reusable' ziplock bags… but i read on their site somewhere that they don't recommend reusing them 🤨

  • one more tip, try and find the manual online for more indpeth look into the product.
