Been looking at picking up some IEMs and found this deal.
Not the lowest it has been but still as decent price drop (~$20).
Sadly the ER2XR is not on sale.

First time posting so open to feedback.

Love my Etymotic's but I'd just warn those looking at them the sound signiture of the SE versions isn't for everyone nor is the deep fit.

Personally I have had the HF5s and upgraded to the ER4XR. I didn't find the fit all that bad to be honest but I did opt to get custom molded tips which made the fit fantastic (obviosly) but did improve the sound even more I feel

      Correct.

People do have the option of the Moondrop Aria or the DUNU Titan S these days which are highly competitive against the Etymotic ER2 series for less, as well as the opportunity to step up to the 7Hz Dioko for some.

    • Hey @CletusDB, do you mind sharing more details about the custom molded tips? Like links, price, and general feedback
Does it require the same molding process as a CIEM?
      Cheers

Honestly it was very long ago when i got it done with my hf5 so im not sure on price as i feel like it was cheaper but i remember the audiologist commenting on how i was getting them cheap compared to what he did for his Shure custom tips. Price is $220 atm from what I can see from the approved Australian people
        Check out https://pacificears.com.au/product/etymotic-custom-fit/

I went to the audiologist and he made the impressions (shot some goo in my ear) and sent them away and i got my tips in the post

Saw these for $99 the other day, on Amazon. The price of this and the XR model seem to fluctuate quite a bit

Edit: As others have pointed out on previous discussions, don't trust Camelx3 for an accurate price history

amazed these dinosaurs are still on the market

Sennheiser HD600's are considered one of the best reference headphones on the market, and cannot be beaten at their price range. They are 25 year old headphones, and are still available today. Some headphones just last the test of time.

They're nowhere near their original price, and they still sit atop their current bracket. They're only just getting superceded now, which is rare for an IEM in this day and age.

Yeah, this site is flooded with fancy active noise canceling buds costing hundreds. I figured the old school IEMs were history but I was wrong. Good to see Etymotic still producing great units. My old Ortofon IEMs are sitting in a drawer somewhere, loved using them back on the day (10 years ago). I think the foam top tips must be no good any more (with wax and aging ).

I never jumped on the active bud train.

Edit: I used to spend most nights on the head-fi forums, good times.

Aren't the bluetooth variant usually this price?

  • Used these for over a year at the gym. Was initially very impressed but thinking of replacing them, my gripes are that I find the bass & sub bass weak even with heavy equalisation, and the cost of the filters which I have needed to change twice already. Never had to change filters on headphones before but it does make a big difference with these.

Sounds like the XR model would be good for you

      • +1

I can never remember which is which and got excited but the XR is the one I want and it's still $198, oh well.

  • Cant beat the noise isolation of Etymotic‘s

  • I owned the ER2XR model and while it did sound pretty good i just couldn't get used to the fit. They need to be inserted deep!

  • Welcome the ear infection, I bought these and they never went inside my ears. Had to return.

    • +1

Yeah man, I hear ya. Wait no! ear infection! can't hear ya

  • How are these going to work inside a shoie helmet. They won't 18.8 x 10.67 x 5.59 cm

  • So I had the hf5 for years and out of my approx $1100 of headphones (audio technica, Sennheiser, Sony, Alessandro/Grado) over the years they were by far my best for reference sound.
When they died recently I decided to jump of the ER3XRs thinking it was an upgrade. It was not. Very disappointed in the newer models

  • These things look like futuristic handguns in the thumbnail
