  • Soooo how does this work. Is a dentist involved?

    • I think they scan the inside of your mouth & then 3D print the aligners.

      • Thanks. Wouldn’t that just leave the teeth where they are and if anything prevent potential natural alignment by keeping them where they are?

No, they would obviously make minor adjustments to what were 3D printed.

It's essentially using current technology to make it easier. Before they would just put a mold into mouth which is quite uncomfortable.

  • Are there any cheaper companies out of the US or even Asia that are reputable but far cheaper than rip off Oz?

    • You (or I) might be misunderstanding the concept (having your mouth scanned on the spot etc.), but do I hope there are cheaper options.

Oz is expensive unless it's woollen doonas or discounted Domino's.

My Mrs used SmilePath which were about $1500. Worked out well no issues and they were very communicative. I believe they were originally based in US but can't remember exactly as we did this early 2020.

    • I saw an orthodontist last month in Bogota Colombia and he was explaining me that there are two company who seem to make the best aligners. One is from US and the other I was not sure.

Unfortunately i forgot the names… but i am not sure how much aligners are in Australia? 6k?

I dont trust this Chemist wearhouse. Its like buying CW's cheap edt perfumes instead to substitute for the real EDP version which last longer.

Before you go buying the cheapest possible version of these things (whether or not this brand is the cheapest I have no idea), go see a proper professional (an orthodontist) first and get some properly informed advice. I know from first hand experience that given how different everyone's situation is, there is no one size fits all solution for straightening teeth and the impact of getting the wrong solution can mess your teeth up for the rest of your life.

I just started Clear Correct yesterday (similar to invisalign) and this involves semi regularly seeing dentist for adjustments.

Yesterday I had to have certain teeth shaved down (due to crowding) and attachments added to help the teeth rotate in the correct positions.

I'm not sure how this method can by pass the dentist and still get a good result?

    • I agree. How much did your aligners cost?

      • Sorry for the late reply!

I'm lucky as a family member is a dentist so I'm only paying for the aligners themselves. So I think I'm a special case.

This link here goes a bit more in depth. Limited Treatment is $2500-3500 and full treatment is $4500-$5500.

I'm not sure if this cost is only for the aligners themselves? The Dentists time is added on top of this… Ie. Periodic check ups, adding/removing attachments, grinding down crowded teeth for movement etc.

So I can see it going up to $6-8k depending on how much your mouth needs.

I am getting a discount on the Clear Correct full treatment as it's my family members first time using that company and I'm getting their labour for free.. So only going to pay $2500. Which matches this deal but not obtainable for other people. I can see it costing almost double when you include the dentist labour (I will have 10 visits to the dentist over the next 10 months).

  • Thanks OP bought 2

    • Guess that space will not be as scary anymore.
