Jesus Nice I need this.. my insurance covers $1400 for cpap

    • +4

Get a sleep study, it's so worth it if you want to find out if you need a cpap. They will legit change your life.

    • +1

Probably only if you've had a sleep study done and a letter from your doctor. That's what I needed for my insurance.

      • +1

Done it. Waiting for results but my local pharmacy sells for $1499 with masks I wanted (auto, resmed autosense 10).

        • $1400? Mine covers precisely zero dag nam it. :(

    • @Kawaii that's a good cover. who with?

Hey Rep, any comment why there's a such a contrast between your reviews on trustpilot and productreview.com.au?

    • +2

Looks like the majority of low reviews on productreview are complaining about the products themselves, not the store that sold them. Like giving JB Hi-FI a bad review because your iPhone wasn't the exact colour you thought it would be.

    • trustpilot > we actively ask customers to review the service we offer as well as the product in follow up email.
productreview > out of our hands and any user could post here

  • Rep - any idea when Resmed Airsense 11 will be available in Australia?

    • As per resmed they are not sure, atm the new resmed device don’t have cellular modules.

      :(

And if you see any better rates take a screenshot and price match with resmed shop.

    • sorry. no firm date as yet

  • Thanks so much for this.

  • Has anyone upgraded from a S9 to an Airsense 10 at all? Much difference?

    • +1

I'm thinking of doing same. Not sure there's much benefit though. How much different can one air pump be to another?

      • I’m of the same thinking - will most likely wait until the S9 dies but just curious

        • You need to find out if they have changed the algorithms much between models. I have just upgraded (different manufacturer) and the results have been much better.

          • @Airport-Andy: Better in what way? How are the algorithms different?

            • +1

@Fredorishi: Much lower AHI and generally feel better. The machine seems to respond much better to the onset of an apnea event. they dont seem to say much about their algorithms but you would hope and I am finding that a new machine seems to treat my sleep apnea much better.
not trying to sell you a new machine - but that is what I have found personally. My old machine was approaching 8 yrs old (which I think is around there expected lifetime, resmed had some switch which was stopping some machines i think i recall reading). I saw a very new second hand machine advertised at a good price nearby and brought it. The results and the improvement have astounded me in how much better they are, so something to consider.
consider though that the resmed 10 is a 8-10 year old design. whether they have upgraded the program I cant say. The new 11 model is getting very bad reports as it has a smaller motor, not as good design (although it looks like the 10) the water tank is smaller and is hard to fit. I would look at Lowenstein or Fisher Paykel myself.

              • @Airport-Andy: Thanks for the detailed response. I already have low AHI, but still dont feel that great. I basically have hyper-somnolence. My S9 is a similar age but only has 6 and a bit k hours on it. Should still have plenty of life left, but a new machine is definitely tempting to see if i get better results. I'm just not sure which one. What did you upgrade to out of curiosity?

        • trade in offer running at the moment for old devices to upgrade to AirSense 10 AutoSet. If you call consumer care team 1300 692 727 they can help

  • I've only used the Pillow mask… I like it but sometimes I do snore.. very softly but still.. and sometimes my nostrils will be closed and then its not as much fun lol. Has anyone else been using the Pillow mask and made a move to another mask?

    • Sounds like you need to increase the pressure level.

      • I've been using mine for about 1.5y now I think.. I plugged it in and I clean it but that's it haha.. Everything is set to Auto I think. How do I determine if I need more pressure and how do I set this accurately?

        • +1

There is a clinic menu, you will need to google clinic menu and specific model as I can't recall the buttons.
Once in the menu you will find the settings for air pressure there.
Have a look at this article https://www.cpap.com/blog/cpap-pressure-high-tell-fix/

          • @Spendmore: Started reading this but will finish it after work. Just wondering, do I still have to adjust it if I have a APAP (i have the airsense 10 auto). By my quick scanning in the above it should auto regulate but only in a range. So to answer my own question, i would say yes but not by much at first correct?

            • @RenVilo: Yeah correct.
If you have the ramp feature on take it off to test the pressure, then enable once you find a pressure that feels better.

    • I use a pillow mask but as a mouth breather I have to use 3M micropore tape to close my mouth.

I alternate with a full face mask.

Resmed does free 1 month mask trials, highly recommend it before outlasting the cost. They also price match.

    • I think that's the fixed pressure not auto.

      • +1

That was just one example. $1022 vs 11 something if my maths was correct. For the same unit.

Wish there were medical improvements in the sleep apnea area than a machine that blows air into you

    • +1

There is a Mandibular Advancement Splint which I've found far more effective than CPAP. But mostly because I actually use it and it doesn't disturb my sleep the way CPAP hoses do.

There are side effects with temporary jaw misalignment, but honestly the benefit for sleep outweighs the inconvenience.

There are also exercises that can strengthen airways (see the app SnoreGym).

In the USA you can get an implant in your neck that keeps your airways open at night (only costs $40k or so!)

      • 40k is cheap to me who can't get used to the machine. Might have to look into the splint

        • For the MAS I paid $2,500 for a 3D printed one which includes all follow up appts. Sleepwise Clinic in Melbourne.

It came under my Dental Extras PHI bucket so helped defray the cost somewhat.

  • Fellow hose-heads—if I could make a recommendation here.

Resmed will price match almost any retailer. I would recommend buying direct from them as you could do a trial first.

Nothing worse than being stuck with a mask that you hate.

Rep will you match the deal $1449 including a mask. Seems like this machine is covered.

    • if you call the customer care team on 1300 692727 they can price match for you

      • Thanks mate I did that .
