Samsung Soundbar HW-Q800B/XY $679.15 Shipped ($629.15 with Newsletter Voucher) @ Samsung

500

The Bose deal got me looking around for Samsung sound bars due to their high rtings scores and price.

Found this sound bar on a good deal at Samsung, and had a left over $50 voucher to apply from subscribe and save.

This is the highest tier Samsung bar before satellites are bundled with (not suitable for our loungeroom).

According to rtings it is on par with the Bose Smart Soundbar 900 with Speakers + Bass Module worth around $3000
So pretty good bang for buck.

I had the good guys price match in store link, paid with 5% discounted gift cards, and received $50 real cash at a total cost of $550 after the store credit. Waiting for it to arrive in store now.

Real cash deal ends Monday I believe

Remember cash back 2.8% at Samsung.

Note- this bar is $679 at the good guys commercial.

The next bar up is the q930b which has the same bar, but rear satellites at $930 at appliances Central ($90 delivery to me, free to metro areas), or $990 at Samsung education store.

Credit to @maverickjohn for helping me search.

  • this is best to pair with the SWA-9500S, are they any deals for the rear speakers ?

  • looks like a great deal…

the Q900A also doesn't come with satellite (rear) speakers and it is 7.1.2 channels, fingers crossed it drops significantly before Christmas

    • That seems to be a 2021 model.
      Is it still stocked much?

      • +1

not much… hard to find, waiting for that last unit for clearance :D

        • I believe the only 7.1ch 2022 bar is in the q990b which is $$$ with its bundles satellites

  • Can I confirm the math above for GG price match. "I had the good guys price match in store link(thegoodguys.com.au), paid with 5% discounted gift cards, and received $50 real cash(thegoodguys.com.au) at a total cost of $525 after the store credit. Waiting for it to arrive in store now."
    If 679 *.95 (discounted gift cards) - 50 realcash = 595? what drives it to 525?

    • Original price
      $629
      - $30 (5% of $600 of gift cards)
      = 599

      599
      - 50 real cash

      = $550

Apologies, in store I was told $70 real cash (my math would have still been wrong as it would be $530).

      I'll fix it.

  • Could you please explain how to get it for $525 at TGG?

Say TGG can price match $629. The gift card can save you $629*5%=$31.45. Plus the $50 real cash, you save $81.45 in total.

$629-$81.45=$547.55. That is my calculation. Correct me if I am wrong.

    • You are every correct, I've fixed it in the comment above and in the body of the post.

      Apologies.

      • +1

haha thanks. $550 is a very good deal though

  • Should stack with the 15% loyalty discount code that Samsung loves dishing out too.

    • Definitely should. I've never received one of those

  • So if I was rear speakers I need to spend $990 instead of this?

    • Or $930 if you're metro. 2 week back order. Some locals might match. Appliances Central

  • this better then recent bose 500 bar n sub?

  • +1

    Q930B $599 on Amazon backorder https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B0B76RGYKP

However the product images appear to be a different model (S series I guess), could be some internal error. But according to the description it indeed is Q930B.

    • Good find.

I wonder how long it'll take to be available

    • What the?! This is $500 cheaper than everywhere else…

    • Yeah the whole ad is a bit suspicious. But amazon in theory should honour it. As its description is valid

    • image looked like Soundbar S60B, but the user manual linked to "HW-Q930B / HW-Q800B / HW-Q700B".

    • Unavailable now if I'm not mistaken

      • Yep they pulled it, fingers crossed my back order order is honoured

    • Pulled the trigger for this. Let's see if Amazon will ship it/what I get

      • Did you get it yet mate?

        • just received a cancellation email

          • @Gothic: No way. They promised it within 3-7 days or something yesterday.
It's been removed from my purchase history.

            • +1

@teacherer: Yes it's been removed from my purchase history as well and I also received $10 credit

              • @Gothic: Did you ask or was it automatic?

                • @teacherer: It is automatic, just check your email or the bell button on amazon app and you should find it

TBH i am not surprised at all the order got cancelled. Now just waiting for another Q800B sale (don't really need two rear speakers of Q930B)

                  • @Gothic: Thanks, I've never noticed the bell before (I never get their emails).

I don't need the rears either. Still sad hahaha

                  • @Gothic: You going to dispute the cancellation? The reason I got from Amazon was that it was "out of stock" but they are now still taking orders for it but at $1400.
                    @teacherer

                    • @7hours 44min ago: It is now $1,542.93 actually and still temporarily out of stock. So I guess it will never be in stock…

  • +2

Hmm guess ill be canceling my bose order from amazon

  • +2

Well done on your buy. Amazing deal

  • -1

    whats the rrp for this?

Bose still seems like it was a better deal from 1400 down to 650

  • $629.15 with Newsletter Voucher

    Ok

  • I'm sceptical - how come we have soundbars now instead of 5.1 surround sound? It seems like a downgrade? Nothing beats actual surround sound? Or am I wrong?

    • +1

      Nothing beats actual surround sound

I've never met anyone that doesn't agree with that statement.

More speakers in the bar still means a better sound stage. I have no interest in speakers behind the couch in the small lounge near my ears.

    • +3

I don't know that we have them instead of surround sound receivers, but as a middle-ground between "proper" surround and inbuilt tv speakers. If you don't have the space for, or even the interest in, a 5.1 (or beyond) surround system, these are a massive and easy upgrade over what comes in the display.

      • +1

Yep, and also the obvious…price difference.

    • It is not the same as full 5.1 surround but it is pretty close. Also you don't have the hassle of install and wiring of the rear speakers.

  • Recently bought the HW-Q600B soundbar from JB Hi Fi as they were doing 15% off deals when bought together with a TV of the same brand. This one is a higher end model so you might not have the same issue that I had but basically had issues right away. It played for a couple minutes and then would intermittently drop out and kept resetting the volume control.

Tried the HDMI cable, Bluetooth connection to TV and Bluetooth connection to my phone and after awhile it just didn't have any playback at all so I think I had a faulty product. Trying to find the firmware update is also a huge hassle since lower end models are not available on Samsung's Smart Things app where you can just initiate the firmware update through there. I spent a good hour tracking down the right driver which had to be loaded via USB and even that didn't solve the issue. I ended up just refunding it.

    • Good call

I've heard similar reports of their cheaper bars and previous models.

But then I've also heard that about sonos and Bose.

      Fingers crossed

    • I don't have that experience on the q700b, likely a faulty unit.

  • @teacherer
Did you cancel the Bose 500?

    • Already shipped, might sort out another ozbargainer with it as I had a few requests.

Or flog it locally if the sub takes ages

      Or cancel

      • Wise decision.
This is an absolute bargain @ $550.

  • Too bad my Bose 500 soundbar already arrived.

    • FB Marketplace is calling lol.

      • At least Bose keeps their prices well.
Bose 500 + Bass 500 at $650 is still pretty good price.

  • @teacherer
    I called Good Guys on 1300 942 765.
They said they will not price match with Samsung.
How did you get them to price match?

    • Did it in person

    • That seems odd.
Are Samsung not a retailer according to TGG?

    • I got it price matched at Nunawading good guys and got the gift card as well.

  • +1

The subscribe and save voucher is taking a while to come…

    • +1

I had one leftover. They can take 48 hours if they come at all in my experience

      • Yeah they did say that but didn't think it'd be the case!
And looks like livechat is down as well

Edit: livechat was available through the bubble and was able to cancel the order and re-order with a voucher!

    • @winsonian
Same - after several hours no voucher
Guess will have to wait until Monday.
Please let me know if you get yours!

      • +1

I tried two emails (one personal, one temporary) and weirdly got it just now for my temp email!

  • got a receipt i can go price match with one of guys I know who works at the good guys

  • Good price but I really want one with rear speakers

  • should I cancel the bose? still in back order

    • I actually tried to cancel the bose (soundbar shipped, bass module not) but they said I couldn't cancel even just the bass module :(

      • Maybe try calling the customer service and get them to cancel it for you, is this better than bose ?

        • Yes, I have provided an RTINGS link above.

        • Live chat said I couldn’t unfortunately…

          • @winsonian: So you need to wait until the bass arrive then cancel both?

            • @ozvictor: Essentially need to refuse both or return both after arrival

              • @winsonian: Yup returns for a full refund is very easy. Just go to one of the amazon dropoff points (mine is a Kennards self storage)? And they return it for you.

                • @BlitzR: They're asking me to return to AusPost but I am asking live chat to process it to avoid the fee right now.
Also I was able to cancel the bass module order once the soundbar got delivered

I have 2 * Q800b with my Samsung Q70B and QN85B TV's in June and July. They are fantastic for the fact that I can utilise Q Symphony and doesn't have rear speakers, the sound is excellent. We paid $800 and $730 for those Q800Bs. So this is a great deal.

    • Thank you for your positive review. Its great to have people with real life experience share their view on the bar.
I too agree that $550 is unreal for this soundbar and definitely makes it worth it.

      • I just loved watching Star Wars, The Hobbit movie series, Dr Strange, Venom etc with those TV's and Soundbars …. Sound is amazing.

        • Hahaha good choices champ. Wanting to still buy the 4k remasters of lotr. Probably should do this for star wars but not as big of a fan as i am with lotr

  • Little off topic, can anyone recommend some stand for rear speakers? Thanks indeed.

  • How does this compare with Q700B?

    • I compared them in Jb hifi today, I much preferred the q800b, especially as it's cheaper.
      Its 5ch over 3ch

  • Hi Op, interest in buying it with TGG, did you price match in store? Thanks

    • Yes he did

  • So, I'm confused by 2 things, that may both be related.
    1. I don't see this post on the front page (any more), it was there earlier. It should be there?!
    2. This deal seems better in many ways than the bose deal, yet that had so many more up votes. Is it a brand thing? or just a psychological thing (more off of RRP kind of thing?)?

    • +1

1 ) try to change the front page to list (old) view
      2) honestly ozbargain people are quite unusual. I also have no idea why people upvotes the bose deal as much as they did when this blows it away

        1. Thanks, yes that worked :)
        2. Yes, they/we certainly are!
    • +1
      1. Ozbargain gets an affiliate commission on profits from clicks. Since this deal is below cost, ozb actually has to pay per click so they hid it from the front page.
      2. Bose CEO's kids go to the same school as one of the mods, you do the math.
      • Wow, I find it bizarre that an affiliate link could cost the "advertiser" per click. That explanation does make sense, although surely they could still have the link without the affiliate link. It does make me feel a little dirty though!

        • I think grasspun is joking, but just to clarify. OzBargain does not control/change what is on the front page, we don't receive negative affiliate income, nor is this store (Samsung) even an affiliate partner of ours.

Our front page (new) algorithm looks at votes and time since posted (plus any customisations you have made) and shows you the top deals within a 24 hour period on page 1. Also, just a reminder that members don't get served affiliate links at all on OzBargain. Only guests see them (on selected stores) and it's only via the go to deal link (and clearly marked). Links in descriptions, comments etc. don't have affiliation.

          • @hamza23: Thanks hamza23. It did seem odd that a deal with over 40 votes, and less than 7 hours old had somehow fallen off the front page, despite seemingly less popular deals and much older deals still being there. Still, it is not for me to argue with the algorithm :)
Thanks for the info on affiliate links. I had thought that's how they work (guests only, on the deal link etc).
