I grabbed a Hicense R7 55" for $150 with 1 year warranty left on it from fb marketplace

    Def worth searching marketplace first

Seconded and thirded - people give away TVs if you're willing to pickup asap pretty often too.

      • The ones they giveaway are over 6 years old.
But nevertheless, good grab for a spare room

    • +3

I agree and we hunted around, though many were 'dumb' TV's, and factor in a media player, the hassle of older tech plus picking up - cost was justified imo

      Hisense not android tv tho

      • -1

I'm sure the resolution is better than hd.

        • -1

only the American version of Hisense has android TV

          • @asa79: I didn't say anything about os, yes I know we have vidaa.

            I've got a p7 65.

      • Firestick and chromecast already at home

        • This will be more suited to those that want a single device that does both live tv and android from a single remote.

          • @asa79: Firestick 4k works with TV remote.
You just have to set it up during firestick setup

    • Not worth the hassle of dealing with sellers and thieves.

      • Really. How about buying a new tv is not worth the hassle of dealing with sales people

Ive been buying of fb marketplace for years and havent ever had a problem

        • not worth the hassle of dealing with sales people

Good luck finding one of those at Big W 😉

  • I think i bought a similar one (same size, and has netflix etc on it) for about $229 a few years ago, still going strong

Wonder how you'd go playing light emulation on this sort of built in unit…much as I would never pay 180 for this, I mean, the idea of a ready to go out the box tele and basic / old games machine for under 200 isn't terrible for the right setup.

My thoughts exactly, so i have a Toshiba(EKO???) 75 or 65 can't remember, i brought a bluetooth controller, i pair it and hit the play store! Some games run a bit slow but most work!

    • Just add a firetv 4k for retro gaming

  • Same screen resolution as a low end laptop from 10-12 years ago

    • +5

sure but viewing distance is completely different

    • +1

      yes, but it's much bigger!

    • Peerfect for all the minecraft movies

  • Why do you recommend it for "older generation"?

    • +2

Might want the advantages of having a smart TV, yet either don't need the size or don't need the higher res for failing eyesight 😉

      • +1

I am older generation and I have a 65" 4k tv in main room and a 40" FHD in bedroom. Need the bigger tv's to see the subtitles because I can't hear well either, lol.

All jokes aside I have an equivalent of the above tv in the family/dining room. It mainly gets used to have the news on in the morning and is more than adequate for the purpose. No need for high res for that.

    • yep as normal free tv with netflix all on single remote

  • Resolution is pretty standard for 32" not many 1080p in the 32" spaces

Older folks who’ve had cataracts out probly have better vision than most young ones.

    • +1

Correct. Had mine done and only need weak reading glasses

  • Does it support kayo

  • After a smart 32 for my caravan. Must run on 12v though.
