      • 2kg correct? Seems very heavy for a 14"

        • +1

The linked one is 16" this one would be lighter

        • +3

          Weight
          Non-touch Models: Around 1.41 kg
          Touch Models: Around 1.49 kg

          • @Seafoodrice: Not that light! my RIP 4 yrs old Asus Zenbook UX331UA laptop just died, getting blue screen (may be motherboard dead) was 16RAM, 512 SSD, I7 8gen, @ just 1.1 kg was feather weight and looking for a replacement with similar specs.

            • @huntabargain: Reinstall windows.

              • @Sage222: do you know how it works to reinstall windows 11? Do I get to another working laptop and get bootable windows 11 from microsoft website?

                • @huntabargain: Create a bootable W11 usb from another laptop

                  • @Bedgrub: My laptop completely died & could not install windows from bootable USB disk, took it to repair shop and he found out the hard disk is dead. Replaced it with 1TB SSD HDD and installed Windows 11 pro and working fine now.

                • @huntabargain: Download windows iso from Microsoft. Make Bootable USB key with the program provided return the iso. Backup data. Boot from USB follow prompts. 🙂

            • @huntabargain: Same size screen?

              • @PVA: which one? the asus which died is 13.5", I have another asus game laptop 15.4' all came with windows 10 and upgraded them both to windows 11

          • @Seafoodrice: Damn! So if I want to be able to physically interact with the laptop I need to add 800g? Shame. Interesting that they can break the laws of physics, though!

            • @eepykate: It’s 80g if you refer to the difference between touch and non-touch model.

              • @Seafoodrice: I was making a joke about being able to physically interact with ("touch") the device - and yea mb misclicked.

  • Anyone with an education login know the price on the edu store?

    • +4

$1339 - it was actually lower than this on the education store (around $1250) directly before this I believe

    • In the edu store, prices start at $1,189.00.

    Amazing specs for the price.

Now we just need 15-20% shopback. Where's TA??

  • Room for additional nvme?

    • last year's model did not, not sure about this year's.

  • What's the performance of 680M iGPU like?

    • +2

around 20% less than a dedicated 1650 which (judging from the fact that I am using a 1650 in my gaming laptop) is more than enough for most users

  • You can't upgrade the RAM?

    • +1

Doesnt look like it. But im sure you can download more of it.

      • +4

CPU is powerful, but no RAM upgrade is a let down.

I'm keen on one of these new laptops, but I would prefer 32GB.

I need a workstation, but would like to double up for my music production.

  • Nice price. Paid $1200 for Ryzen™ 7 5800U and DDR-4 3200 in Dec 21.

    Very light and decent screen.

  • Was planning on replacing my 9yo MBP with a 14" MBP but this looks tempting for almost 1/3 the price daymmmn.

How long do these ideapads usually live for

    • If you're not planning on heavy gaming, my amd 4800U(two and half years old) is still going strong, I upgraded to 6800U so my sister can use the 4800U.

I've bought this laptop 3 times and all have been faulty. The first and third laptops had broken keyboards with various keys having a horrible clicking sound and some getting kinda stuck when pressed. It looks like Lenovo is having problems aligning the chassis and the keyboard properly as the backlighting was off centre for the upper section of the keyboard and keys are towards the bottom of the chassis cutout. The second laptop I got had a working keyboard but a dead pixel.

On paper this laptop is brilliant, but after getting 3 faulty laptops in a row, there is no chance that I can trust Lenovo on this laptop.

    • I bought a hisense 558L fridge and the first 3 where faulty. Couldn't believe my luck. The 4th fridge has been perfect for 18 months.

  • Until recently it was very hard to find a desktop with a better CPU

  • Is there a 16" version with this config?

  • No USB4(USB 40Gbps) is unfortunate.

  • +1

The 680m smashes the Intel Iris XE, it can run warzone at a pretty decent FPS. Pretty good for a IGPU

Sigh - this is no longer available now that Cashrewards for Lenovo is at 16% CB :( https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/728528

    • This would have been the deal.. and I would have pulled the trigger.
