Signed up to this a couple of days ago with $1000 gift card but they added a free screen protector and MagSafe case as a gift when I brought up the previous $1200 gift card amount - should I be complaining or am I being greedy?

Wondering what I did wrong now -_-

    • +1

mention it instore to the manager, who knows

  • I got one with $1000 voucher today thinking it was the last day

  • Can someone pls confirm with their experience if we have to be ported out for 30 days before joining back ? Or 30 days is no longer required ?

    • I ported out from boost prepaid to Amaysim for a day, then to Telstra no problem

  • Might have to port to Telstra from Shitus(optus). The data leak is just bad.

  • +1

do telstra still do that thing where they forget to send you out the early termination fee when you cancel the contract after leaving the store??

    asking for a friend….

  • +1

If anyone is interested, zenfone 9 is apparently due to be out tomorrow according to this article https://ausdroid.net/2022/10/03/aussie-pricing-and-availabil…

so maybe not bad to pair with this deal

  • +1

How do people chew through that much data. That’s insane. One month is what I use in 2 years.

    • I use it as a data Sim for home Internet.

      • Def not enough for home use for me haha. I pay $12 a month for mobile, and $49 a month for nbn.

        • Enough for me since I dont watch too much Netflix 4K.

  • +2

do people actually use more than 100gb a month? i've got 80gb with Optus and i'm always left with at least 20gb

  • How long is this deal available for?

    • 12 Oct as per the email that I received earlier this evening :)

  • I’m about to port out to Woolies Mobile and cross my fingers we get a good 12 month deal in time for the December period 👍

  • $2376 less $1200 bonus = $1176
    $1176 / 24 months = $49 per month. That's a decent deal.l for 300gigs data.

Though I will still stick with CircleLife, only pay $30 for 100 gigs which equates to $720. If I wasn't on the special deal with Circle I would definitely take up that offer.

    • I have an apple watch on my current telstra plan.

What do you recon is cheapest way to port out and not lock in a contract so I can come back in 30 days?

I don’t want to lose my apple watch capability but it seems like its only available on post paid.

      • -1

        CircleLife hands down.

        • they don't do apple watch

      • +1

lol I don’t think he’s associated with Jb, just accidentally ticked that box or something.

Hmmm says $1000 gift card not $1200

  • This is an ok deal but not a great one. Will be keeping my eye on the comments to see if someone manages to get a better deal.

  • +4

Done, thank you! Great excuse to escape Optus.

Got a $1200 gift card with 300GB of 5G data a month for 24 months, at $79/month. Includes port in discount of $20 per month.

    I'm happy!

Just hassle those agents, and get a reference number!

    • +3

wow did you have to say anything unique to get the 20$ discount?

      • +1

Would like to know this as well. Currently with Optus and want to move to Telstra. Do we have to get the discount through Telstra first then go to JB and show them the chat??

        • that’s how i did it, negotiated for the discount then got a reference number, signed up at jn then messaged telstra with the reference number

    • Hi Jimb000,

Did you check whether the $20 discount is for 24 months? Best I can get with the chat right now is $20 discount off 12 months and the rep said she can only apply 12 months, since its the only one available in her system.

      • 12 months, i’ll deal with it next year

    • I had an online chat with Telstra and the rep said JBHifi would've provided a code for the $20 credit. Is it true?

      • not true, JB doesn't even know about the $20 credit, just keep pushing.

    • I so want this to get away from Optus, but Optus wants $750 to break contract. (eqifax has done a 21 day credit freeze) Because of Optus I will not be able to get a loan to repair my home damaged by Feb 2022 flood. Any Ideas how to get the JB deal and go to Telstra?

  • I am trying to speak with Telstra about the port in credit and being told its no longer available? Has anybody else had luck?

  • +3

Thanks for this, let me share my experience with getting the $20 port in discount:

Applied this morning @ JB, once the number is active, I went to My Telstra app, open get help, then message us.

I ask for the $20 port in credit due to moving away from Optus, which incentives by the salesperson. Had a chat with a rep, who ask about my JB plan, whether I applied in store / online, and whether I have a reference number for the port in incentives, which I don't.

The rep then asked me to get in touch with JB for the port in credit, I just told them that I literally just got back from JB and was told to get in touch with Telstra via chat / phone to get the port in credit.

The rep then did a series of check twice, asked for my JB contract (which I just screenshotted then welcome e-mail from Telstra showing the $99 JB Plan), then happily applied the credit for 12 months. I push my luck for the 24 months, because that is how long my contract is for. The rep said that they can only apply 12 months from their system, but do come back in 13th month to ask for the 2nd year discount, then they gave me a reference number for future attempt.

I didn't push more as I believe the 12 months are their current limit, which is totally fine (better than nothing), but overall, did it in first try.

    • I just got on chat to get my $20pm but they said there were no notes and umm'd & ahhh'd and came back with $10 for 6 months. I'll have to try again later.

    • I asked via My Telstra app, they kept saying Do you want to port away from Telstra? I replied no I have ported from Optus to Telstra- asking about $20 port in credit. Was told to go to JB hifi?

  • Guys, re $20 credit: just got it for 12 months on the $99 deal from JB. The rep even said oh yes the JB $99 deal (or words to that effect)
I did it on the Telstra app.
I told them I ported the number XXXXXXXX today and I'd like to claim the $20 monthly discount. The person I communicated with said he applied the discount and gave me a reference number (screen shotted it of course ) so try again.

  • I'm struggling to get any credit.. so i gotta sign up first is that what you are saying?

    • yes if u r asking whether u need to sign up for the JB HiFi $1200 deal first, the answer is yes in my case although from reading above it is with the other plans also.

  • Can you still sign up and move your old telstra number to the new plan? Eg they swap the numbers over and then cancel old plan.

    Thank you

Asus Zenfone 9 is out can use the 1200 GC on this!

  • Can someone explain the port in bonus for me? We're moving two plans from Optus

  • Signed up today. Got my $20 port in credit for the life of the plan too

    • How did you get the port in credit?

      • Asked via the telstra app

  • They wont do it for me :(

  • +1

Tried 3 chat still a no go for portin discount lol

  • I am about to get this plan but before hand I went on telstra chat and asked about the port in credit, luckily I got connected to a new rep who recently joined and she said I could get 20-30$ port in credit on 24 month plan after she discussed it with her supervisor, I manage to rephrase that "so if I buy 24 month plan 99$ from jb hifi I will get 30$ port in credit?" She replied yes, I asked for chat reference number so tomorrow ill refer to the chat for the port in credit of 30$.

I got lucky I guess. It was my first try. :)

Ill update how it goes tomorrow.

  • only managed to get $20 port in credit for 12 months, better than nothing i guess.

    1st rep was straight no/offer expired/can't do anything…

2nd rep said no problems straight away but for 12 months only..

    • I finally got the $20 off per month- first 12 months after 2nd attempt. At first only offered $10, I said "is that the best you can do, others are getting $20?"
5 mins later they offered the $20 after I said I will be ending my Optus home wireless and will strongly consider Telstra.

  • I got a $1500 giftcard with this same plan last month so not the best one.

  • Damn missed this one. Wonder when it'll be on next. I'm keen to sign up for the $99 plan so I can use the GC towards an MBP

  • How long do I have to port out like going to Optus then back to Telstra?

    • I've heard over 30 days
