  • Menulog is back on these cards?

    • +1

According to Ultimate Gift Cards site, Menulog still available on the Ultimate Eats Gift Cards

    • +2

It was added back to the Ultimate gift card scheme two weeks ago.

      • +1

Yup can confirm Ult Eats works on menulog- i used it few days ago

        • I actually never had any issue to use the Eats on menulog (did it 1-2x every month), even when they took it off the list. I stocked my card from earlier this year though, so maybe something to do with certain batches?

  • Only 5% :(

    • +2

      10%, on $50 ones.

      • +5

I hate to be pedantic, but you get 10.5% of the $50 Ultimate gift card’s value given to you in Flybuys points.

This deal is for 1000 bonus Flybuys points, which means you will still earn the standard points (1x point for every $1 spent) that you ordinarily earn on the purchase of Ultimate gift cards every day at Coles.

50 extra points is probably not a lot in the whole scheme of things, but I am currently less than 50 points away from my next multiple of 2000 points, so it can sometimes make a difference!

        • +3

Best deal was on Woolworths when ultimate eats was 20% off, in Feb i think.

          • +1

@ChipsChicky: Yep, haven't seen more than ~10% (discount or points) after that

            • @hanofee: I should have stacked more at that time, just bought $250 worth GCs, which ran out quickly on Nando's.

          • @ChipsChicky: Don't recall that deal, was it 20% off in points or directly off the value (prefer the latter of course)

            • +2
              • +1

@WookieMonster: Thanks WM! I think I passed at the time as still had a couple of Eats card, and they stopped working with Menulog for a while so didn't wanna stock up too many.

              • +1

@WookieMonster: I did pricebeat at OW back then :). Got 10 of them (the max the store allowed as per woolies deal). Just finished the last one yesterday. But yeah after reading some of the hack story below, probably won't stock a lot like that anymore.

        • The value that I place on the bonus Flybuys points (assuming that you are redeeming them for a discount at the checkout) is 10.5% but reduced by 3% (as I would normally buy Coles gift cards at a 3% discount at Macquarie Marketplace).

  • Can you use multiple cards on Xbox? Like x3 $50 cards.

    • I never tried with Xbox (as we can just buy from Shopback with 10% back at anytime), but if you click the link in the Op's description, and filter it by "Exchange", Xbox is 1 of it. So, you should be able to exchange it to Xbox gc first, then add it to your Microsoft account.

      • Sorry, I probably didn't explain myself properly.
I meant, can you use multiple gift cards in the Xbox/Microsoft store?

        • Oh, my bad. That one for sure, once you claim it, it'd add into your Ms account balance, just like Amazon/Apple etc. You can then use the balance as you want for anything in their Ms or Xbox store (it's same account)

  • Something to keep in mind is that the Visa version of Ultimate gift cards are susceptible to “hacks” too (i.e. someone else compromising a gift card you purchased and then redeeming it before you do).

I would also advise against holding onto Ultimate gift cards for too long, which is the reason I redeemed my remaining Ultimate gift cards at Officeworks over the last few days.

    • Are they introduced Officeworks recently?

        • So if we buy the current (old) stock, will it work? The packaging itself has no OW on it

          • @hanofee: Yes.

One of the gift cards I used at Officeworks last week was an Ultimate Home gift card I purchased for 15% off at Coles last year. That definitely did not have the Officeworks logo on the front of the packaging.

            • +1

@WookieMonster: Thanks. Yeah, the OW logo actually appeared on the wallet when we add it and I tested just now to buy something at OW, it worked fine :)

    • I take it you dont drive at all because accidents happen? Or fly? Or go outside of the house?

  • Does this work at Coles Local Stores?

    • +1

in my last exp went to Coles local, staff said they don't attend Coles promo same as Coles express.

  • +1

Looks like the Ultimate "Everyone" and "Shopping" cards are quite new for me……

    • +3

The Ultimate gift card scheme underwent a major update last week.

      • A new Ultimate gift card (Ultimate Everyone gift card) was added to the scheme. I have not seen this at a Coles store yet, so it may be a while before it shows up at Coles and/or other retailers (assuming it will be sold in brick & mortar locations).

      • The Ultimate Active gift card was renamed to the Ultimate Active & Wellness gift card.

      • The Ultimate Style gift card was renamed to the Ultimate Shopping gift card.

      • Every existing Ultimate gift card had at least one additional participating retailer added it. For example, JB Hi-Fi was added to the Ultimate Him and Ultimate Thanks gift cards.

      • The full list of new participating retailers is: Adrenaline, Bessemer, Build-A-Bear Workshop, EveryPlate, Hello Fresh, iFLY, Just Cuts, Kingpin, LSKD, Modibodi, My Muscle Chef, Natio, Officeworks, OZSALE, SENSORI+, Subway, Thankly, The Stork Nest, Weber.

      • Super Retail Group retailers (Supercheap Auto, BCF, rebel) are being phased out from the Ultimate gift card scheme. Ultimate gift cards that feature the logos of a Super Retail Group retailer on the front of the packaging are still redeemable at those retailers, but it appears that there will be a newer version of the Ultimate Him, Kids and Teens gift cards going forward that will exclude the Super Retail Group retailers.

      • WM, with addition of new stores (Officeworks in this instance), would you know if the Eftpos version will be updated to be accepted there? I still have a couple odd Kids/Teens which are Eftpos versions, would be useful if they can be used at Officeworks.

        • +1

Honestly, I would be extremely surprised if the EFTPOS version received any more updates in terms of participating retailers, because:

          • Most types of Ultimate EFTPOS gift cards have been phased out from third-party retailers (e.g. BIG W). You will see the odd Ultimate EFTPOS gift card or two still on display at a third-party retailer (e.g. Coles, EG), but it is definitely unusual nowadays to see them still on sale.

          • If I remember correctly, JD Sports was the last retailer to be added to the Ultimate EFTPOS gift card scheme, and that was before the Visa version of the Ultimate gift card was launched. (A quick check on the Wayback Machine seems to suggest this is the case.) Considering that no updates to participating retailers has been made since mid-last year, I would be surprised if Blackhawk Network thought now would be a good time to start adding retailers too, especially with the amount of work required to ensure that a merchant is successfully able to accept another type of Ultimate gift cards.

    • ulti everyone & eats for me thx

  • ultimate eats included in promo or just the one on the picture?

  • Can someone help me undesratnd.
If I buy 5x $50 cards in one transaction, will I get 5x 1000 points or it needs to be different transaction each time?

    • +3

it doesn't matter for Coles, either way work. it's capped at 5 x 1000 per account regardless the number of transactions

  • Has anyone seen any Ultimate Baby & Mum card around? Seems to not be stocked at several places in Melbourne.

  • Does this include the other Ultimate gift cards that are $50 or more that aren’t shown in the photo ?

    • +1

      Yes.

      • The title of the deal in the Coles catalogue is for $50 or $100 Ultimate Gift Cards. If Coles only wanted some Ultimate gift cards to earn bonus points, they would have done what they did in the past and list out the specific gift cards in the title.

      • The fine print in the catalogue only lists $30 Ultimate Kids, $30 Ultimate Teens $30 Ultimate Students and $30 Ultimate Eats Gift Cards as exclusions. In the past, if Coles listed specific gift cards in the title, they would also include in the fine print Excludes all Ultimate Gift Cards not listed above, but that is not the case for this deal.

      • I bought a $50 Ultimate Home gift card yesterday at Coles (which is not pictured in the catalogue). I just checked my Flybuys account and I can see that I have received 1,000 bonus points from this deal (and 50 standard points).

    • bought ultimate eats cards yesturday, points arrived today

  • How long does it take to activate Ultimate Him cards?
Purchased from Coles an hour ago and not working at JB HiFi.

    • I think the receipt state how long it might take to activate. I believe 24 hours?

You can always check on the website by entering the card details on the HIM website and try swap for JB GC via that method.

      • Usually it's instant (the receipt should show it as "approved"). I went straight to next door (in-store) to use it yesterday with no issue.

      • I have the old card, it’s showing on website it has balance. But I can’t see how to swap it to JB HiFi card. Can anyone help it’s urgent?

        • Did u try online? cause I'd say, it should work if u go to JB store and buy their giftcard of the same amount (no need to tell them that ur paying with ultimate)

          • @hanofee: But it’s not working at JB HiFi when purchasing an item. Do you think it will work if I purchase gift card?
Coz it’s the same eftpos machine.

            • @crazyboy: @WookieMonster are you able to help. I have the cards which shows 6 retailers in the front (Ultimate for Him) purchased from Coles 3 days ago. On the back it says it can only be redeemed in these 6 stores.
I believe I have the older version, as I saw the newer version in a different Coles store today which has JB HiFi written on it.

Won't the old version of the GC work at JB HiFi?
I tried on 2 different days at the same store but the payment just declines (Checked on Ultimate portal, the balance shows $50).

              • @crazyboy: Does the card number on your gift cards start with 457824 or 502125?

                • @WookieMonster: It starts with 502125

                  • @crazyboy: You have the older EFTPOS versions of the Ultimate Him gift cards, so the correct list of participating retailers can actually be found here.

JB Hi-Fi is not a participating retailer of the Ultimate Him (EFTPOS) gift card, and I don’t expect any changes to participating retailers of the EFTPOS gift cards going forward, as Blackhawk Network has been slowly phasing them out over the last 12 months.

                    • @WookieMonster: Oh that's very bad. They are of no use to me as I rarely shop at those retailers.
I don't believe Coles will issue a refund.

                      • @crazyboy: Yeah, I am very doubtful that Coles will issue a refund, but you never know!

  • Was going to use this to pay off PS5 at eBay games. But looks like I will only be able to get $25 back either way…

  • Does anyone know if these Ultimate Him/Her Gift cards do not have several stores printed (e.g. JB), does it mean that they won't work at these stores? Must have been from a different/older print batch?

    • +2

The single source of truth for participating retailers is the Ultimate gift card website, as participating retailers typically change once a month for at least one Ultimate gift card. The Ultimate gift cards you see at a brick and mortar retailer (e.g. Coles, Woolworths, BIG W, Australia Post) are usually produced many months before they arrive at a retailer, so the logos printed with them can be out of date by the time the gift cards are displayed at a retailer.

There are actually two Ultimate gift card websites, and you will need to determine whether the particular Ultimate gift card you are looking is the Visa or EFTPOS version in order to get the correct list of participating retailers.

      • If the Ultimate gift cards you see at your local Coles store are the Visa version (which have a card number starting with 4 and have the gift card hidden inside the cardboard sleeve), refer to this Ultimate gift card website. There is actually a QR code on the front of the physical gift card; if you scan it, it will redirect you to one of the webpages in OP’s table. The list of participating retailers in OP’s table is also grabbed from these webpages (and I know this, because I run a Python script at least once a week to get the latest list of participating retailers).

      • If the Ultimate gift cards you see at your local Coles store are the EFTPOS version (which have a card number starting with 5 and have the gift card sitting on top of a cardboard sleeve), refer to this Ultimate gift card website. Blackhawk Network (the owner and operator of the Ultimate gift card scheme) has been phasing out the EFTPOS version over the last 12 months, but you will still see some of them floating around at some brick and mortar retailers.

      • +1

Thanks WM for the insight. I'd like to add that the EFTPOS ones would have EFTPOS logo on the back as well (I have a TEENS one of these unused).

  • This seems good. Just confirming:
I can buy these and goto jbhifi to buy Apple Gift cards, correct? Essentially getting 10% off…

    • +2

Yep, I was able to purchase an Apple gift card using an Ultimate gift card in-store at JB Hi-Fi a couple of months ago, so I presume there is currently nothing in JB Hi-Fi's system to automatically block you from doing this.

Here are a couple of tips:

      • Tell staff you would like to pay using a card. If you instead say gift card, they may think you are trying to use a JB Hi-Fi gift card as a payment method (which is processed differently to Ultimate gift cards). They will either have the checkout go into the wrong mode, or they will tell you that you cannot use gift cards to purchase gift cards and become more suspicious of you.

      • I would add the Ultimate gift card to a mobile wallet first and then pay using the card stored in the mobile wallet. You don’t have to do this, as you can also just swipe the card on the EFTPOS terminal. However, in my experience, some JB Hi-Fi staff get very suspicious of you if you are wanting to purchase a gift card and you swipe a card on the EFTPOS terminal, as that usually indicates you are trying to use a gift card as a payment method, and some staff will actively stop you if they pick up on what you are trying to do.

      • +1

Thanks for advice. Really appreciate it.
I will add the Ultimate gift cards to apple wallet ;).
        Cheers!

        • If u have a couple of JB nearby, just try to use it directly first (if refused, then add to wallet for the other store :). It’s painful to add them to the wallet, Ultimate’s backend is awful. I never had issue with physical card so far, but YMMV.

          • @hanofee: Or can buy Apple GCs from OW I believe as it is also listed in the Ultimate GC lists.

            • @Starlord: Can I combine 4 of the ultimate gift cards to buy one $200 apple gift card in store or online at OW or JB?

              • +1

@ihavenomoney72: The checkout systems at Officeworks and JB Hi-Fi will let you do this in-store, but it is another question whether staff at your local stores will let you do this.

Officeworks will only let you use 1x Ultimate gift card online, so you can only purchase $50 (or less) worth of Apple gift cards using 1x $50 Ultimate gift card. Officeworks does not allow the redemption of Officeworks or Coles Group & Myer gift cards on their website, so there are no workarounds I can think of to get around the online redemption limit.

JB Hi-Fi does not sell Apple gift cards on their website.

                • @WookieMonster: Ahhh I see damn it haha, what if I add my ultimate gift cards to apple wallet and ask to pay on 4 different cards at JB? Cheers man :)))

                  • +1

@ihavenomoney72: Yep, you can do that, and I would suggest you do that instead of swiping four gift cards on the EFTPOS terminal. I find that JB Hi-Fi and Officeworks staff are less suspicious of you if you ask to split payments and then tap a phone or other smart device, rather than swiping multiple cards.

I know that @hanofee will politely remind me that you may sometimes get unexpected error messages when trying to add an Ultimate gift card to a mobile wallet, but this is an exception rather than the rule.

                    • +1

@WookieMonster: Thanks so much man ! Much appreciated !

                    • @WookieMonster: I usually just add the cards to another phone when the error pops up. And it pops up pretty frequently according to my experience.

  • Would ultimate eats work on deliveroo ? Card is activated , has a balance, yet rejected when paying for deliveroo order

    • Swap it for a Deliveroo voucher.

      • how?

  • A word of warning. Check whether the Him/Kids (and the others) are Eftpos or Visa GCs. The ones I saw at some Woolworths were all EFTPOS even though staff hung the promo banners on the hooks for these cards which can mislead people thinking these cards include all the stores in the banners. The EFTPOS GCs work with less stores and definitely don’t include JB Hifi!
Unless you are savvy or read WM’s comment, I can imagine many people would get caught out by this.
