Time to go in store and hide away all the high-value cards? I wonder if store staff are wise to that now and go looking for them when these promotions come up.

    • +1

Don't get why staff resorting to making promos harder to obtain. Just order in more cards for everyone to buy. The whole point of the promotion is to get money flowing through the door.

      • +9

They don't want to issue too many gift cards. The promo is just to entice people into their stores. They want you in the store to buy other goods.

That's how Woolworths make their money. Not from these gift cards.

        • +3

What if we go, hide those cards somewhere only we can find and later come in and grab them when deal is on 🤔

    • Sadly the Gift Cards seem to be run by each stores Manager, Manager can decide what cards and how many are out.
Some of the Woolies in SA in low-economic areas like Parabanks dont even sell WISH Cards

    • +1

      Lol, not for these cards

  • +2

I don't think there is that much interest in these deals as opposed to the ones you can actually get 10-15% at checkout. Yes its nice to get the cash back in reward dollars but you're restrained to using it only at Woolworths. I went into Woolies yesterday and saw plenty of TCN GCs available. Nobody is hiding them let alone stripping them off the shelves as they used to before.

    • Might still be plenty of GCs available because the promotion hasn't started?

There are still some value to these promotions, I bought some apple gift cards recently on a similar offer and I appreciated being able to a Qantas points boost.

      • TCN gc promotion is active. I bought $100 yesterday to get $10 reward dollars. The target audience for these types of promotions are limited unless you're a hard core woolies customer.
Agree with Apple gcs though. It's better than nothing since there are no discounts on them at all.
I haven't checked to see if the Qantas point conversion is actually good value in comparison to other FF programs. Can anyone confirm?

        • 2000 everyday rewards converts to 1000 Qantas points (only FF option available for converstion). 1 QP is valued at 1.8cents (acc. to pointhacks).

My bad about the TCN promotion!

  • Last time I used one of these promotions I had to call in 3 weeks later as they didn't credit me. Not interested.

    • It's incredibly rare in my experience but I actually like when the points don't appear because all it takes is a five minute live chat and they always throw me some bonus points for the trouble.

      • How to contact them thru live chat?
Is it via website or via app?
I bought 10x $100 today and got no bonus rewards points at all

        • The Everyday Rewards website during business hours should have a 'Chat Now' button in the lower right hand corner.

  • Only home can have variable values, right? Want to grab some and wait for Black Friday to purchase Fuji XT5 or Sony A7M4

    • AFAIK, yes.

I have only ever seen variable denominations for Ultimate Home, Ultimate Teens and Ultimate Kids gift cards stocked at some Woolworths locations (and never at Woolworths Metro locations).

Woolworths may suddenly start stocking variable denominations for other types of Ultimate gift cards to coincide with this deal, so who knows!

  • +1

When will the TCN 10% on Apple gc's arise

    • I bought these then used them to buy Apple gift cards from JB HIFI.

  • Can anyone share their online experience using the Home Card at Good Guys Commercial? I've got a kitchen full of appliances that need purchasing in the coming few months. All up for some bonus QF points but don't want to be stuck with paying everyday prices instead of the GGC discount.

  • Can I use them to buy Apple gift cards? Do I need to redeem to Jb hifi gift cards before I go to instore?

    • +3

I was able to purchase an Apple gift card using an Ultimate gift card at JB Hi-Fi a couple of months ago, so I presume there is currently nothing in JB Hi-Fi's system to automatically block you from doing this.

      Here are some tips:

      • Tell staff you would like to pay using a card. If you instead say gift card, they may think you are trying to use a JB Hi-Fi gift card as a payment method (which is processed differently to Ultimate gift cards), and will either have the checkout go into the wrong mode, or they will tell you that you cannot use gift cards to purchase gift cards and get more suspicious of you.

      • I would add the Ultimate gift card to a mobile wallet first and then pay using the card stored in the mobile wallet. In my experience, some JB Hi-Fi staff get very suspicious if are wanting to purchase a gift card and you swipe a card on the EFTPOS terminal, as that usually indicates you are trying to use a gift card as a payment method, and some staff will actively stop you if they pick up on what you are trying to do.

I would strongly advise against trying to exchange an Ultimate gift card for a JB Hi-Fi gift card if you're only wanting to purchase an Apple gift card from JB Hi-Fi, because:

      • +1

Thank you so much. Appreciate. All the best to you.

      • trying to add them to the apple wallet manually but says invalid card. Any generic guide?

        • Also, I can't see the option in "Officeworks online" to pay using any GCs in order to buy the Apple GCs.

          • +1

@Starlord: I believe these work like a credit card, no need to look for a gift card option. Just check Ultimate's website as they explain what expiry date to use when using them online.

  • Had anyone tried buying one now? The signs seem to be up at a few stores already.

    • the sign might be up but the dates on the sign might also show "from 12/10…"

  • The image from woolies shows offer is only for variable-Home, $50-eats, $100-others

    • +2

      As per T&Cs

Offer available from 12/10/22 to 18/10/22 on all denominations of gift cards listed

      • Thanks. Zoomed into the image and can see the T&c on the right hand side confirming that.
I was misled by the banner images only shwoing specific denominations

  • ult. eat + babymum for me thnxx

  • Is there any chance to use at Costco?

    • +1

No, because Costco is not a participating retailer of the Ultimate gift card scheme.

The way in which these gift cards work is they check unique identifiers in an EFTPOS terminal (or online payment gateway) and compare it to a permitted list of unique identifiers (which would have been provided to Ultimate gift cards from each participating retailer). For example, if you go to a physical Costco location and you swipe an Ultimate gift card on the EFTPOS terminal, the EFTPOS terminal will contact the issuer of the Ultimate gift card to see whether it will authorise payment from your card. The unique identifier is passed over to the issuer at this stage, which allows the issuer to see you are not at a participating retailer and then decline payment, even if your card has sufficient balance available.

I am not going to rule out a monumental glitch one day causing Ultimate gift cards to be redeemable anywhere Visa prepaid gift cards are accepted, but I would be very surprised if that ever happened.

      • Thanks heaps!
Do you know about The Perfect Gift Card at Costco?
I've seen this is EFTPOS Card and works at 300,000 stores. But I am not sure about Costco.

        • No idea, because I don’t shop at Costco.

It has been a while since I have been in a Costco warehouse, but I see no reason for Costco to not accept Perfect EFTPOS gift cards in the warehouse itself. I presume Costco accepts cards running on the EFTPOS network, and I also presume Costco accepts payments from a magstripe, so Costco should handle it just like any other EFTPOS card.

However, I suspect it will not work out at Costco’s fuel pumps (assuming your local Costco has them), as they appear to only accept cards operating on the Visa and Mastercard networks.

  • Anyone know if there’s going to be an apple gift card promotion soon?

    • +1

You can use these to buy Apple gift cards at JB HIFI.

  • People asking about apple gift cards, is that because you want to buy something specific at apple which is not sold at JB or does JB not let you use them on certain items?

    • +2

      There’s some scenarios to consider:

      • If you want to access Apple Education Store pricing at JB Hi-Fi, you almost always need to present proof of your eligibility (e.g. valid uni ID). However, if you want to access Apple Education Store pricing online through the Apple Education Store, all you need to do is go to the Apple Education Store website. You very rarely get asked for proof of eligibility when purchasing online.

      • In my experience, JB Hi-Fi will not price match Apple Employee Purchase Program (EPP) portals or or Apple On Campus (AOC) Education Stores. Apple EPP portals are accessible via some employee reward programs and offer discounts on items you will not see discounted on Apple Education Stores (e.g. some iPhones). Additionally, the AOC Education Store offers generally bigger discounts than the regular Apple Education Store, and has stricter eligibility criteria than the regular Apple Education Store (e.g. members of the Australian Education Union, University of South Australia staff and students). Just like the regular online Apple Education Store, you very rarely get asked for proof of eligibility when purchasing online from EPP or AOC portals.

      • If you are purchasing through the regular online Apple Education Store, you are still eligible for cashback from Cashrewards or Shopback. On the other hand, JB Hi-Fi does not offer cashback via cashback portals.

      • You cannot pay for Apple subscriptions at JB Hi-Fi (e.g. Apple Music, iCloud, Apple TV+). However, you can pay for these subscriptions using credit from an Apple gift card loaded onto your Apple account.

      • +1

Thank you, so if none of these apply to me (just want to buy an Apple Watch for hubby) I can just grab some of these gift cards and save myself 10% at least?

  • Can you use these online with jb hi-fi looking to get in on the pixel 7 pro trade in deal when it goes live.

    • Can't see why not. Thinking the same.

  • What's the highest denomination for ultimate home available?

    • +1

Some Woolworths stores sell a $50-$500 Ultimate Home gift card denomination.

The next highest Ultimate Home gift card denomination usually stocked at Woolworths is $100.

  • Any issues with rocking up to Officeworks with multiple Ultimate Home cards to purchase an iPhone? (e.g. 3x $500 gift cards, or 15x $100 gift cards if can't find $500 gift cards)

    • +2

      Paging His Majesty WookieMonster

    • Just used 3xVariable home GC's to purchase an Iphone 14. I added them all to Apple wallet but wasn't sure how will it work at the counter when paying, so asked the rep if I can pay in separate transactions but the rep advised that is not possible. I then advised that I have gift cards in $500 denominations and she advised that she can put it through that way.

  • Is there a limit on how many of these Gift cards can be purchased?

Edit: Just zoomed in - 10 cards per transaction and 1 transaction per day per rewards member.

  • +1

Anyone purchased these cards today and got the 20X points? I purchased $100 ultimate home gift cards but don’t see anything added to the account. Thanks

    • +1

Same. I purchased 5x$100 home card, and didn't get any points.

      • +1

Ditto! I bought $2000 (4x $500) and haven't got any points either. Hoping it is delayed like Flybuys otherwise I'll be sending off a message to the rewards team.

        • I did reach out to the rewards team and they said to contact if it is not loaded in the next 14 days.

        • Where did you found $500 cards?

          • @kosmonaft: Yokine, WA

There was five on the shelf, I took four.

  • +1

Went to local Woolies and couldn’t find Ultimate Home. Been told by Woolies staff that there is no stock for Ultimate Home in Melbourne? Can anyone else confirm?

    • Same here, went to 2 stores and they were missing.

      • Called like 5 Woolies near me - none have Home but have every other Ultimate card. Wonder if the third party reps don’t stock the Woolies cause they know it’s going to be on sale?

Wonder if this offer is valid via Big W too?

    • I just bought these from Woolworths Greenvale

      • +1

Damn that's like 40-50min away from where I am

    • Bought some at South Morang Central.

    • Just been to Woolie dandenong, they have plenty Home GC in stock, but the manager said there's store policy to have $1500 limitation (I wonder it's true or not)

      • the one inside the plaza? any variable? can't seems to find any of that?

        • +1

Yes in plaza, I did get some variable from there

      • I bought $2k today (you decide on whether the limit is true or not), but was asked for tax file number (TFN). I gave her a jumbled string of numbers and it still worked.

        • I doubt they made it up about the limitation, why is that..

          • @LORRIE: Thanks for the info. Yeah some staff just interpret rules differently, there was once I only been allowed to buy 3 (of $50 gifftcard), because it gave that warning on self-service

    • The Woolworths stores I checked around Melbourne CBD in the last couple of days had no Ultimate Home gift cards (yep, there was no stock on the shelves even in the couple of days leading up to this deal):

      • QV
      • The District (Docklands)
      • Victoria Harbour
      • Collins Square
      • Southern Cross
      • Swanston Street
  • The Apple Gift Card description on OW website only mentions apps, itunes etc but no hardware. I’m looking to buy a macbook with these from the education store. Should be alright?

    • Yes, Apple simplified their giftcard last year. Only 1 type that can be used on anything (in fact, they convert to ur Apple account balance)

  • I can't find the baby and mum gift card in two of my local Woolies in Melbourne. Out of curiosity I went to the Coles and they don't have it either. Anyone else have the same problem?

  • +1

Tried 5 different stores for the Ultimate Home, all out. C'mon guys, leave some for meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

  • +1

Anyone got asked to provide tax file number (TFN)?

Due to recent data breach I was rather uncomfortable in providing this information and instead changed a few digits around.

    • Never, they made it up for u mate. I bought a lot at both woolies/coles, never heard such thing

      • Lucky I gave them random numbers then.

    • @t25 it popped up in the self checkout terminal as well. But there was an option to skip it. So I just skipped it.

      • +1

The checkout operator refused to proceed without despite me playing dumb. I just gave them a string a numbers that "resembled" a TFN.

  • I was told no points on Ultimate Home $100 anyone else told the same?

    • Seriously? Who said that? It’s not on the T&C

    • The photos in my store, showing $50, $100 and variable one for Home. Having said that, I bought 4 $100 + 2 $50 in 1 transaction and got no points :(. Woolies really screwed up their IT these days, no points last week neither for the promoted TCN. Have set up reminder to chase them

    • @Pigey can confirm that $100 cards have bonus points as well. Purchased few today and got the bonus points.

  • Hmm bought some $500 Variable Loads but didn't get any points? Do they come later?

  • +1

Catalogue says it can take 14 days for points to appear in account and a limit of 10 cards per day.

    • Thanks. Time to set a reminder.

  • I purchased some $100 home cards this morning without getting any points. So I went to another store near my workplace after work and bought a $50home card. I immediately checked my points on the rewards app and found 1000points were already accumulated in my account.
The only difference between these transactions was that I only purchased gift cards this morning, and in the afternoon, I purchased the gift card with other groceries.

    • Given its one transaction a day, is there a chance they may not pay out on the first one?

  • Would TGG or JBHF have limits on how many gift cards can be used in a single transaction? If I can't get the Ultimate, I may have to get lots and lots of $100 gift cards to buy what I'm after.

    • +3

      It depends on two factors:

      • What you mean by gift cards. Is it Ultimate gift cards or JB Hi-Fi/TGG gift cards?
      • Whether you are purchasing in-store or online.

      In-store

Retailer Max # of Ultimate/TCN GCs Max # of JB Hi-Fi/TGG GCs
JB Hi-Fi Probably unlimited. OzBargain record is 81. Probably unlimited.
The Good Guys Probably unlimited. OzBargain record is 20. Probably unlimited.

      Online

Retailer Max # of Ultimate/TCN GCs Max # of JB Hi-Fi/TGG GCs
JB Hi-Fi 1 Unlimited. Someone recently redeemed 26.
      The Good Guys 1 2
      • +1

that guy with 81 gift cards was a legend

  • Anyone had issues with points not tracking. Purchased two $500 cards and isn’t tracking the points in the app?

    • Woolworths rewards customer service told me to hang tight and wait it out.

    • I think majority here experiencing the same issue. I bought another this morning from different store, no point neither. Just have to make sure to chase them up after 14 days I guess

    • On Wednesday morning I got 2 and got the points straight away, but yesterday got 3 more but zero points. A friend also tried in 3 different Woolies stores but no points tracked so far. Costumer service said there is nothing wrong with my order and it can take up to 14 business days for the points to be tracked.

  • Bought 5*$100 Ultimate Home from Woolworths Strathfield NSW this morning, and got 10,000 points loaded immediately.

There were still some left in the morning, but not sure now.

  • to confirm we can buy 10 cards a day until the promo ends?

  • So can I purchase Ultimate Eats and then add to Apple Pay Wallet and then use it on the Nandos App for payment with Apple Pay?
