      This is the "new" Caltex, owned by Chevron in the US. They'll be opening more caltex branded stores now that Ampol no longer has the rights to use the Caltex name.

        Chevron sold their share in Caltex Australia in 2015 for near $5 billion… Then bought Puma energy in mid 2020 for ~$500m, then proceeded to revoke Caltex Australia's licence to use the Caltex brand, thus force the name change to Ampol…

        IMHO, personally think they are scummy (Chevron)

          Chevron would have to use PumaCharge (fast charging like a cat)

        Ampol and its franchisees (including EG) still have the right to use the Caltex brand in Australia, but only until 31 December 2022. That is the reason there is a rush at the moment to remove any Caltex branding at locations operated by Ampol or its franchisees.

        However, starting this year, Ampol no longer had the exclusive right to use the Caltex brand in Australia. That is the reason you see more and more “new” Caltex locations cropping up across Australia alongside Caltex locations operated by Ampol or its franchisees.

    It took me so long to work out what a Techron Cap was. Then I realised it was just a cap / hat. Thought it was a fuel card with $39 on it or capped your fill ups to $39. Oh well, poor capitalisation strikes again.
