Just noticed the deal. Remember to click on the yellow box where it says "Bendix Brake & Parts Clean - $5 each when you buy 3 or more" instead of the red add to cart to qualify the promotion!! Seems not many stores around me have stock so check your local stores for stock

I bought 3 of these the last time this deal was on but not happy with them. Don't know if its residue or poor degreasing action but they seem to leave a light greasy film behind. I got a bottle of Penrite to compare and that left the same surface (aluminium) dry as a bone so won't be getting these any more.

  • Thanks OP got some.

  • did anyone else think this was lipbalm from the thumbnail?

    • Considering the way that mechanics douse their hands with this daily, it could qualify as lip balm.

This works well for cleaning bike disc rotors and brake pads.

    • Its so much cheaper than the Muc-off equivalent. Have you used it much?

      • Not sure but this is only $5 ea and 3 will last for long time.
I used to clean all 3 of my bikes when they were contaminated with mineral oil. 1 bottle is at least enough to clean 5 x 2 sets of disc brake rotors and brake pads.

  • Thanks OP….got some

  • Ah Damn, seems like you need to remove the wheels to use these.

    • How else would you work on your brakes without removing the wheels ?!

      • I initially thought I could just spray from the sides. Then I realised I have to spray from the inside as well to cover the other side. Maybe easy for motor bikes and bikes but not for cars.

        • This is used to clean the brakes and brake parts when you're doing a brake job. The brake system needs to be clean when you put it back together.
So you'll already have the wheels off 👍

If you're not doing any brake work, then you don't need this.

          • @Nom: Cool thanks!

          • @Nom: You would still need this to get the rust off the rotor as shown in the Bendix video.

            • @nadan: This won't strip rust from the iron rotor.
It's a solvent - it dissolves oil and grease, and it will collect brake dust and carry it away.

If your rotors are rusty on the friction surface, then just go for a drive. The brakes will scrub the friction surface clean.

              • @Nom: But they are always rusty though despite driving, what can be done to keep them rust free?

                • +1

                  @nadan: Nothing.

They're bare iron. If you have viable rust on the friction surface after a drive, then you've got a problem.

                  Post a photo.

  • Cheers OP ordered from the local

I use brake cleaner for a lot of things except the brakes.

Starting fluid for hard to start carbys
Cleaning oil stains in the engine bay
Cleaning old gunk off seals and rtv from old gaskets.
    Cleaning scale on glass

    Is this rainman ray approved?

  • Still a bit expensive compared to this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/719604

  • My local SC store don't have any in stock ever though it showed they did when I placed my order, however they are throwing a fourth can of their branded ones, which should last for years.

  • any products to clean driveway oil stains

    • Brake cleaner works great for this purpose 👌
