  • They’re using Bell as their provider. I had a Bell account before, not sure if I’ll qualify as a new customer? Also will they charge a fee if I transfer out my portfolio later?

      1. T&C "For the avoidance of doubt, a customer is new if at 2 October 2022 they do not currently hold a HSBC Invest account that has been activated by completing a trade"

      2. Looking a fee schedule and forms appears not but maybe best to email/call

IMHO Generally no fee for broker to broker transfers but is a fee for off market transfers (transfer to different name).
Note:Superhero do charge a fee of $5 per etf if you transfer etf out within a year

      • thank you! I was wondering what off market transfers were

I am still waiting for HSBC to credit me the 100 dollar cashback as part of their Everyday Global Account promotion. I have been waiting 7 months.

To anyone thinking of switching for the offer, this is definitely worth noting

You should reach out to them. I had to push to get paid out from the previous offer https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/669323

      • I have rung them multiple times for months now

  • They charge about $20 a trade, which is outrageous. $300 cashback on a $50k transfer, wow, that's a big ask.

  • My portfolio was definitely above 50k few months ago, haven't checked for a while. Wouldn't surprise me if its below

  • Could anyone suggest good alternatives to HSBC for trading? CMC?

    • SelfWealth or Stake.

  • Can somebody clarify what they mean by a lump sum payment ? Is it one transaction payment they expect ?
    Thanks !

What a portfolio and how to transfer to invest account? And can transfer out straight away? Any fees incurred?

    • +1

No, you need to keep the portfolio there until after 2nd December 2022 to get the $300.

Does anyone know if a family trust can apply?

    • +1

I'll give it a try with a family trust. I know BellDirect supports family trusts because I have family trust accounts opened at BellDirect and HSBC uses BellDirect as their platform.

Other platforms like Stake do not support family trusts.

      • Other platforms like Stake do not support family trusts.

I've experienced the same issue yet they support SMSFs which are a special type of trust structure. It's bizarre.

  • how do they value the portfolio's worth when it's up and down each day? Right now I have one that is 52K but it could be down to under 50K at the time they look at it if i'm unlucky

This deal is great if you are an individual, as you just click a few buttons and open the account online, but if you want to do it for an SMSF or a trust, I rang them up at HSBC and they said for SMSF you would have to make a trip to visit an actual HSBC branch in person to open a bank account for an SMSF or for a trust.

I'm not going out of my way to make a massive long trip to travel to their branch in the CBD. It's not worth it for the $300.00. Covid-19 has made us far too comfortable with staying at home and doing everything online.

    • Sadly typical of HSBC. Thanks for the information.

I just took advantage of this and I just HATE HSBC.
They have 20 min delayed stock prices, $20 a trade, they auto changed every dividend bank details to the new HSBC account and the portfolio page only shows % movements, not the value change in $ per stock.

Its a train wreck. Ill take my $300 and Im out of there.

Same here, although I’m not even sure I’ll get the $300, had some last minute challenges with them so not sure if my portfolio was transferred in time before the deadline

  • Anyone received their $300 or broker rebates at all yet?

  • I havent received it either.

Its so annoying - all these bonus offers etc and I have to track everything because so many companies have shit systems that don't give you what they offer. I recently started using flybuys and the bonus offers are the worst. I always have to chase up and their email is so overloaded when I email them my email is rejected as their mailbox is full.

    • I messaged them via their Banking Chat to ask when we might expect payment and was told I have to call their Trades hotline, which has hours that match my work hours and no alternatives…hope they just actually come through at some point.

  • I was told 19th December which I recall reading somewhere else when I emailed them

    • Yes, got through to someone and they also mentioned the 19th.

Noticed the $300 appeared in my HSBC bonus savings account a couple of days ago. You don’t get notified when they send it.

  • yep we got ours Friday YAY.

  • got my $300 as well. Anyone knows how to transfer this out of the trading account? Or you can only use it to trade?
