Not YET. But do not blame me, I did not vote for puppets!

  • +2

got 3x 50 this year already so why not

    • +27

      life changing wealth right there

      • It's the kind of wealth you can justify spending on pointless treats you might otherwise be reluctant to spend on, since you got it free.

  • +2

Can you brief how to do 1c payments?

"I do the 1c payments at Woolies self serve"

    • +4

Just split your payment and pay 1c via credit card and pay the remainder with whatever you normally use.

    • +5

Alternatively setup automatic monthly donations to your favourite charities for an amount you're comfortable with, let's say ~$1. You'll spend more by the end of the year but you'll be supporting your favourite charities. A little goes a long way and it's a win-win because it means you get the bonus interest.

  • +2

Yes, on the payment screen do Card Split Payment, then type in 0.01 to pay for your groceries, and then do it another 4 times in a row. I do this for ING and MyState each month, usually all at once. But use your linked debit card to your My State Bonus Saver account.

  • First 2,500 customers. It takes two working days to create account. Is it too late now?

    • takes me 12 mins or less not 2 days

    • +1

Same both accounts I tried making said it will take two days to create. Must of failed some ID test somewhere. Or they got a boat load of applications from this post and their fraud system is kicking in.

      • +2

        Are you an Optus customer?

  • It doesn't say you have to do the 5 transactions to get the $50 right

    • I don't know. Sorry. It probably has terms and conditions in small print somewhere when you sign up.

Since I'm already a customer I'm not eligible for it.

  • +2

The first 2,500 eligible customers will receive a $50 bonus from MyState that will be deposited into their Bonus Saver Account within 15 days of the promotion end date

  • +2

How do we know if me made the cut to be the first 2500?

The process was easy. Took me 4 mins tops. If I get the $50, it was easy $50.

Account already created. Im going to deposit the min $50 and 🤞 that I made the cut.

    Thanks op.

    • Were you able to transfer, my back says invalid account number

      • Yeah. I did it today though. I wasnt particularly in a hurry.

  • +8

cant deposit from ING it says wrong a/c
cant deposit from citibank saving a/c
okay with macquarie but $ not arrive yet

    • +7

      Add Bankwest to that list

what kind of backwards bank are we dealing with here..

    • Same here. This banks only takes transfers from non osko banks.

      • Macq and HSBC are non osko

        • +1

Confirming just sent fitty via hsbc. Worked fine (still waiting 1-2 days for funds to be rec’d)

    • +3

seems they reject OSKO payments, I had to pay via NAB desktop banking to avoid it using OSKO method. Seems like it worked, will take a day however

    • Commbank + Westpac failed
      HSBC went through

    • +3

if you schedule your payment it will be non osko

    • +1

I deposit to it from Bendigo bank every month without a problem.

    • Me too. Can not transfer money from ING to MyState bank a/c.

    Most banks are bobo…

Some don't even allow foreigners to open a joint account with family unless their permanent.

    So what's a lousy 50$

  • +6

Tried to open an account just then but got to the end and it said they couldn't verify my identification online.
Called them as instructed and they requested me to send copies of my passport and medicare card via email to them - absolutely no way I'm doing that for a chance at $50. Ironically they have a banner on their website about the Optus data breach and how they are 'keeping your accounts safe' so rest assured everyone…

    • +1

My application on iOS just spun forever

      • Same

      • +1

Same here, but on Chrome desktop.

  • +1

Well that's probably the first bank trying to apply with where it hasn't gone through actually - maybe flagging my license has done something!

Oops - we've hit a little speedbump trying to set up your account. We're working on this and will send you a confirmation email with your account details and next steps within two business days.

    • +2

Nah…got the same message, and then an instant email saying the same thing.

      Perhaps it's been Ozbargained?

    • i just got the same message

    • +2

Did your ever hear anything? I haven't and I even sent them an email asking about it.

      • No, never heard anything back

    • Received my debit card and pin to the card in the mail - strange as I never got a confirmation that the application went through or any other form of communication!

  • do we deposit $50 into the glide account or Bonus Saver Account?

NAB rejected payment to the Bonus account

    • I'm pretty sure it's just the glide account. That's what I did anyway…

      • +3

        It’s the bonus saver

    • I couldnt to either from my bank, failed and $50 bounced back each time

    • try create on your glide account ( prefer email pay ID) , try 10c payment to start with (standard practice paying anyone new/3rd party account first tyime ), imho payment should land straight in seconds if pay ID done correctly

      • +1

Have you actually done this? I get the following "You have no accounts on which you can register a PayID."

  • +3

the process is bad, tried 3 different people all says asked us to call. Not worthy the trouble

    • Same, ID verification didn't go through for some reason and was asked to call. No email asked in the application page or any reference number given to ID myself when calling in. Not worth it

    • Are you Jason Bourne?

  • +2

actually bottom of website has terms (deposit $50 into the Bonus Saver Account between 10 October 2022 and 29 November 2022)

*This promotion is available to new and existing customers who are Australian residents aged 18 years or over (as at the date of the Promotion Period), do not currently hold a Bonus Saver Account; and open a new Bonus Saver Account and deposit $50 into the Bonus Saver Account between 10 October 2022 and 29 November 2022, inclusive (Promotion Period).

    • Sounds like we can just deposit and withdraw, wait till December and get paid

      • +1

I would leave the money in the account to be safe…

      • +2

This is why we can’t have nice things.

      • On the other hand, you could read the dates in the terms as the period they're running the promotion, not the period the deposit needs to be held.

  • Cheers

  • I set up an account but transferring $50 from my bank into either the bonus saver or linked account failed

  • +5

Bait with reasonable hurdles, makes Mebank with their outdated app look old.
Still gets a 9 out of 10 by my standards but to get real this will not be sustainable in the long run.
But huge thanks for the folks in Tassie to put up a really good fight against the big monsters.

    • +1

I feel bad taking $50 from a Tassie bank, they need all the money they can get down there! Then again, given how long you have to hold it in there before they might decide to cough up makes it feel a bit like a term deposit with a gambling element…

      • +1

You aren’t really taking money from them. Basically Visa/Cuscal will provide them an amount of money each year to attract new customers to get more people on their card network. It’s up to each bank to decide how to spend the money

      • +1

I refilled my old account without taking the 50 bucks.
Fell glad to support hard workers.
For the same reason I do NEVER buy from Amazon! This cost me less than 3 coffees a year anyway! Nice feeling!

  • +1

Use payID to send money to the glide account then do the internal transfer. it works fine to me.

    • just doing the normal bsb+account# transfer should work too, but doesn't for me

    • I got this "You have no accounts on which you can register a PayID" - Is this because my email and mobile number are already in use as PayIDs elsewhere, or is it because it's too soon?

      • Is this because my email and mobile number are already in use as PayIDs elsewhere

not sure? if you give us access to those accounts we can tell you no problem

  • only 45 comments
    I assume eligible under > 2500 ???

  • +2

only takes 4 mins to register, not sure if it is within 2500

    • oh I meant my eligibility under 2500 new cust to grab $50 he he
yeah took me about 3-4 minutes to open too, thanks

      • That wasn't a reply to you specifically

  • +5

    Not worth it..
We haven't been able to identify you electronically to finish opening your account. Thanks for applying for your MyState Bank Bonus Saver Account. Give us a call on 138 001 during business hours to help you open your account.

  • +1

Wonder if the accounts are active straight away. I set them up, but 86400 wouldn't let me send the $50 and CommBank did, but immediately returned it.

    • +1

Its because they are not setup for osko.

Mine got rejected initially then sent it as overnight payment

      • ahh that could be it as my bank used osko too when it failed

  • +1

Deposit $50 by 29/11/22 and get a free $50 with their Bonus Saver account.

Am I missing something? Why are most of you rushing to deposit the money so soon. You have till 29th Nov to deposit $50. Im guessing set and forget approach😆

    • +4

It's possible if the offer gets ozbargained the bank might select the 2500 from those who deposited money into their accounts? Just a thought

      • +1

Haha. Good point. I better get a move on. But seeing the amount of peeps having issues here I think I am pretty safe. 😄

  • -5

another crap bank that needs way too mucjh info to open a simple account AND forces sms instead of email. YUK annoyed.

    • Worse than I thought. Their Website is garbage.

Continually getting errors when trying to do anything. $50 not worth the extra pain. May never get any deposits back.

      Sorry, something went wrong.

    Couldn't open an account.
They said they hit a speed bump and will contact me in 2 business days.

The Optus data leak probably screwed me

    • After the hackers receive the $50 bonus, they’ll probably give you your account back. Hackers are just hard-working people trying to survive by screwing you before you screw MyState Bank. Of course, indirectly they’re still screwing MyState Bank, but they justify it by using someone else’s details and blaming you for naked greed (ironic). Looking on the bright side, you didn’t need to deposit $50

  • I deposited $50 from my bank, but the transaction is still not appearing on the MyStake account. Does anyone know how long it'll take?
Will I lose my $50 trying to get the bonus of $50?

    • +1

Congratulations on signing up for a new MyStake account! Now go open a MyState account and get your free money

      • Will need to see where my $50 went before signing up for MyState account

    • -1

You should probably have opened a MyState account.

    • You should go to specsaver….

  • +1

i've used them for years, sadly.

    terrible, slow "support"

transfers take ages to appear in your account, compared to banks living in the 21st century.

mediocre app and website (better than some, worse than others)

i've had issues where i've been charged overdraft fees because of their shit, slow system, never had this with any other bank, before or since.

i do not recommend mystate, most banks have mediocre apps and online portals, but the bullshit with overdraft fees because of their shit system, as well as the slow transfers, make it not worth it.

get the $50 (if you can, looks like multiple people are already having issues with this due to mystates shitty system..) and get out.

    • Can you send money into an account with osko? a lot of people having issues with that

  • +2

Account set up, tried to send from my ING app to either the Bonus Saver or Glide account, it says

    Sorry
The payment is unable to be processed due to an invalid Account number. Please check and try again.

    lol

    • Gah same. You found a fix?

  • Double check your passwords. No "show password". Also attempted to change in the website and it logged me out?

  • Do people just close the account once they get the $50? Or just leave it open?

    • if there is an online option to close the account I will usually do that.
I won't call to close it.

  • hmm the portal only shows the Glide account, not the Bonus Saver.

    • Change that in the setting.

      • am I blind and can't see it? ;)
