Hi there, I received a flyer in my mailbox and thought to share with the community.

Vodafone is offering 5G Home Broadband Internet Premium Plan (up to 100Mbps, unlimited data), with First Month Free and $50/Mth for First 6 Months (100 Mbps), $65/month after 6 months, for customers with an existing Vodafone mobile phone plan. ($55/M for first 6 months & $70/M after for new customers without an existing Vodafone mobile plan.)

Modem included (no delivery charge, need to return if cancel) No installation needed – just plug in your modem and get online in seconds. I suppose can take with you whilst travelling?

Noticed they also have 4G Home Internet Plan, with First Month Free and $40/Mth for First 6 Months (20 Mbps), $50/month after 6 months: https://www.vodafone.com.au/home-internet/4g

Worth trying if Vodafone reception is OK in your area, first month free anyway. Planning to cancel my superloop at the end of this month.

Plan cost for customers with existing Vodafone mobile phone plan. Available in selected coverage areas. New connections only.

Critical Information Summary

Updated: Apparently TPG(Telstra network) and Optus are offering 5G home internet plan one month free too, no need to look at 4G home internet plans, they are too slow compared with nbn.

2nd updates: This deal is extended to mid-Nov. I've signed up this week and got my 5G modem today, the speed is up and down all the time, around 20-30 MBPS range, not as what they advertised for 100 MBPS.

Cant even make phone calls while in bed with their reception

Same. Vodafone is a joke of a network especially in Brisbane

      • +2

Yeah. Can't even make phone calls in metro areas.

Works fine for me in Sydney, faster than NBN at home ironically. Also on my weekend away recently on the outskirts of Kiama / Albion Park where we were staying it was better than Boost/Telstra.

          tldr, location location location.

      • it's fine in Craigieburn Vic ,
not a joke after here .

depends where you live i guess, can't make a Telstra call in my house, I'm in a T$ black hole, visitors are dismayed.Optus marginally better. Vodafone smashes it though.

I was travelling all over the city. It is mostly bad.

        • Sounds like you sleep around ;)

        • Which city? Albany?

im on their 5G home broadband to test for a month. sometimes i get <2Mbps lol. pings are 50ms + but can also go super high
Yes depends on the area so you may get lucky but def not for me so its good they offer 30days to test.

$50p/mth for 6 mths when you have a phone plan with us, then $65/mth. Else $55/mth for 6 mths, then $70/mth

My vodafone reception was very flakey, despite the website map claiming I have indoor 5G.
The phone jumped back and forth between 5G (over 100Mbps despite weak signal) and 4G (maybe 2Mbps - and uplink far slower.)

But I tried putting a modem up in the roofspace, and it works decently now. So a 5G modem taped to the TV antenna would probably be great :-)

I have 4G wireless Internet at home for the last two months, as my area does not have 5G (WA). The speed is too slow, the internet just drops out. This reminds me to cancel my connection with Vodafone. TPG 4G wireless home broadband is far better.

TPG owns Vodafone, it's what they use for 4G connections. Before TPG bought Vodafone, TPG were experimenting with starting their own 5G network, using mini-basestations mounted on power poles. Buying Vodafone gave them a much larger network, much more quickly than building one themselves.

Curious that you are getting better "TPG" reception than Vodafone reception, given that it's the same network. Did you have different modems? That might explain the difference in speed and reliability.

I ran 5g (optus) for 3 years and got a pretty consistent service but totally depends on where you live.

    Btw
I have a 3pack of Nokia beacon nodes that are the only compatable mesh system with these routers for sale if anyone is interested

      Didn't 5G optus launch in 2021?

      • I worked for them until early 2020 and they had started doing 5g at home before I quit, so this may be right

        • how was your experience with the company?

  • I'm on TPG 5G, getting 165Mbps during peak hours but I need to reset my router every few days cause it drops down to like 5…

    • I need to reset my router every few days

      What’s the router?

        Sagemcom 5866

    • I heard that a lot, do you know why?

  • Dont do it. I was lucky to get 10 mbps. Took it back and went nbn 50. No issues so far.

    Unlimited data?

    • yes, apparently TPG(Telstra network) and Optus are offering 5G home internet plan one month free too.

  • I left Vodafone 10years ago because of bad reception, looks like nothings changed. Talk about shit progress

I used Vodafone’s nbn in Greenvale area, never had any issues. Recently moved to More nbn cz it was cheaper.

Our family uses Vodafone plans for phone and no issues. I work in Melbourne and generally travel to different councils for meetings. Works great.

P.S. Boost is pretty shit in our area.
People have complained about telstra too.

I believe it depends on where u live/work. Which is not good enough. Mobile network coverage & nbn reception greatly varies in different areas in Australia and so do the personal experiences.

    Not good enough.

We pay good money, why can’t we get stable connectivity & speeds?

I know nbn was mismanaged by NBN Co. But what’s the excuse for phone network operators?

  • I suppose can take with you whilst travelling?

"our 4G Home Internet Plan is designed to connect the devices you use at home to the internet, and is only for use at your approved home address."

    • yeah my speed has been tanking below 50 Mbps recently too on their UNLIMITED SPEED PLAN.

But I just consider the value I pay for this vs If I was to get e.g. NBN 50. This 5G still works out to be cheaper for me

Sometimes you need to restart modem to get normal speeds
