    • Much lower capacity though. Need the AAs to go on sale

      • +1

        100 AA, for 25.16 S&S

        • +1

Get a 24 pack of AAs for free every time that BCF or SCA gives you $10 credit.

          • @coxymla: Haven't had one of those $10 credits in ages, those days were good though.

  • +18

Get rechargeables. Better for the environment.

    • +5

And ultimately your pocket after a handful of recharges.
If you don’t wanna pay for the power just go to your local maccas or whatever and charge them while you eat!

      • Or you can charge at work/school too.

        • +2

And get your powerbanks charged at work, then use them to charge your devices after work.

      • I duno, 25c here, a loop is $2.50? So 10 charges. How long is that on your tv remote? 50ish years?

        • You don’t need Eneloops for a remote. Amazon basics or IKEA NIMH will do fine.

    • Don't use any electrical devices, even better for the environment!

      • +15

A true ozbargainer has written who receives their eneloops into their will

      • I have rechargeables from almost 10 years ago, still going strong. Lots of them had daily use for about 3 years on console controllers and now just every now and then.

      • +1

Rechargeable batteries are best suited for something that draws a large amount of power over a short time. “You get the economic and environmental benefits of rechargeables a lot faster in high-consumption devices, like the remote control for your kid’s toy car that eats up AA or AAA batteries,” Whitehurst says. While children’s toys tend to be some of the biggest battery hogs, the same applies to devices like wireless computer mice.

Single-use disposable batteries, on the other hand, are better for products that have a low energy pull over a prolonged period of time and are replaced infrequently, such as smoke detectors or your TV’s remote control.

    • Bonus they won't leak and ruin your expensive electronics.

  • +10

I call absolute BS on the 10 year anti leak on batteries at this price point.

I wouldn't put it in a low drain device if youre not regularly using it either.. More likely to get caught with a ruined device

    • Does Amazon offer leak insurance claim on its battery?

      • +2

If they advertise 10 year anti leak then the ACL has you covered

        • good point, I will grab some screenshots and save them for 10 years.

  • +2

When I put batteries in a remote, the number one consideration is 'how long till it leaks'

If the answer truly is 10y, this is great. But do even replace the battery it leaks before the 10y is up?

I feel rechargeables are better leakage wise, as they are checked more regularly, since they don't last as long in a remote. Only problem is the 1.2v causing some LCDs to dim out, so we're really stuck w alkaline for remotes that have a display.

No luck with Energisers, Duracells, Aldi (any kind), only good ones I've found yet are Varta Alkalines, Envelops, and Ikea rechargeables.

    • Energizers claim process is also horrid (and actually illegal)

      • How and why is it illegal?

        • +5

They're required by law to refund including damages.

          1. They artificially put a $50 cap on claims. Legally there is no cap.
          2. They ask for irrelevant information and pretend they can't process the claim without it. The list of insane shit they ask for is crazy. Including keeping the packaging. Nobody keeps empty packaging after installing the batteries!
          3. Youre expected to keep batteries that are leaking and going bang. Noisy (sleep) and not safe (bubbling acid). The have no right to make me do unsafe things.

Imho they are thieves and liars. I will never ever buy energizer again.

          • @justtoreply: Appreciate the info, it sounds ridiculous

          • +1

@justtoreply: None of that is illegal. They are the requirements under Energizer's expressd warranty.

Seperate to that you have the ACL which will provide you with the same level of consumer protection against damage caused by faulty products where there is no dollar cap on claims (capped at the cost of repair etc)

            • @spaceflight: This might be technically true, but practically?

Who will take a global energy giant to the consumer tribunal over a battery, as returning it in appropriate but not original packaging, or making a claim in excess of $50, etc. all this can result in refusal citing policy reasons, and have to be fought against with the background of a Court date, at least…

Energizer's lawyers knew this when they tried to impose stipulations that go way beyond ACL

I only need a half. Anyone in Springvale/Noble Park wants to share?

    • I can, already purchased. We can arrange to meet up somewhere neutral over the weekend possibly. DM me.

      • +12

And that kids is how I met your mother!

“Hello, Ted. If you’re watching this tape – and I knew that you would – It means you have my porn collection, and that means either I am dead, or in a relationship. If I’m dead, I need you to take me to the Hamptons and recreate “Weekend at Bernie’s.” I want to dance. I want to have sex with a young woman. I want to go skiing. If, on the other hand, I’m in a relationship, then for the love of God… get me out of it!”

      • +1

Hey guys. Want to split 3 ways? I don't need that many either.

        • ndoan has pulled out if you wanna go halfs, DM me.

  • +4

Cool image of battery testing. Thanks Reddit.

Kirkland the standout suprise but maybe not the same battery as posted here.

    • Haha that's the first thing I thought of when I saw the deal.

  • +1

How do these compare to varta at bunnings? Tried Aldi's brand and they're rubbish

  • Thanks Op got one

  • +1

    AA for $25.16 S/S

    • Yep, bought the AA pack. Bunnings has cheap Varta AAs for 34c each, but this deal is even better. 100 AAs should see me out to 2030.

  • +1

    100 x AA's I can kind of understand but 100 x AAA's?

  • +4

Wish we get Amazon Basics rechargeables. Decent rating apparently

    • Yes they are pretty good. IKEA ones aren't bad either

  • Grrrrr … bought these 2 days ago.

Oh well … bought another box to ease the pain …

    • +1

well you can always return the more expensive one for a refund

      • For $10? It's a 10km round trip to the nearest drop-off point.

Now … if I had bought something that dropped to $100 or more, then I would.

There are enough posts around about Amazon getting snarky with too many returns for me to not bother over $10.

  • I've got a toddler with plenty of toys and i wouldn't even need this many.

    • +1

      excuse to buy more toys

Anyone know of a device that can use AA batteries to charge USB devices? I figure this would be handy in a prolonged power outage.

    • Maybe you should look into investing in solar power instead.

      • Just dropped 9k on an Enphase AC system 😬

      • Solar inverters don't work during a prolonged power outage though. Inverters which are blackout stoppers potentially do but. would likely be more pricey than your standard inverters which power off during a power outage to protect the linesman fixing power outages.

    • +1

Use drill batteries and a cheap buck/boost USB board.

      • Cheers, any recommendations? I have a bunch of Ozito batteries so that's not a bad backup say if it's night time & solar isn't working.

  • +1

For cheaper batteries been getting the SCA AAA 24 packs ($8) when the $10 voucher appears…
    https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/sca-sca-alkaline-aaa-bat…
    AA too https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/sca-sca-alkaline-aa-batt…

    • Do you c&c?

      • yes, 2 packs for $6 or add a random $2 item (e.g. hose connector)

    • thx for sharin

  • this deal puts my bunnings aaa to shame

these days i only use batts for wall clocks

  • So, I ordered this last week when it was $35.99 …
Been on help chat with Amazon and they want me to return and reorder!!

    • +1

Also please hand in your Ozbargain membership.

  • +1

    Use lemons instead

  • Don't batteries leak charge over the years (especially in humid conditions)?

    • +1

Yes. All do, no matter what a marketer prints on the packet

  • Use these for my Tesla. Thanks OP.

    • +1

      Used these for my Teslas

  • +1

    offer finished..

  • I'm all for rechargeable batteries and all, but those comparing charging price with cost of replacement alkalines is not really apples for apples. What about the outlay for the eneloops?
