anyone used SanDisk SSD's? i dont really know too much about these models.

    • +1

yeah, i'd like someone who has used them before to give us a general summary of their quality before buying

      • Hi,

Also check out this previous post last month on SSD, good feeback from ozbargain community tho.

I got a 120 GB from PCCG. Been using for a month now, pretty decent. Reviews seems positive.

    • Hi scud70,

SanDisk is known as reputable company with reliable & high quality product.
I've been dealing with SanDisk for a while, the overall product range failure rate is less than 0.01%

here's a review that you can check out in details for these SSD:

      http://www.myce.com/review/sandisk-extreme-120gb-ssd-review-…

      Cheers

      • Thanks for that, I've read the reviews and performance is good and comparable no issue's there. I'm more interested in user feedback and experiences get a idea of real world reliability.. :)

    • +1

I've used them before. They were much quicker than the OCZ Agility 3 cards when speed tested using CrystalDiskMark.

    • Tested SanDisk Extreme SSD 240GB, using SATA3, the performance is very impressive. However, when I tried it with USB 3 (using Seagate GoFlex USB 3.0 cable) and SATA2 (using eSATA), the performance is much slower. Tried 2 PCs, one of them uses intel H77 chipset. It could be my setup. If you connect one of these SSDs to SATA3, you will be quite happy with the performance.

      • err obviously the bottleneck is sata2

        • +1

          Err, no.

What netsurfer is saying is that when attached to his SATA2 port, the performance is below par for even a SATA2 drive; however, when connected to SATA3 port it is fine.

This idiosyncrasy has been mentioned maybe a dozen or more times in various SSD threads!

        • So if my mobo doesn't support sata3 then the speed is faster if I use normal hdd instead of ssd. Is that correct?

        • +2

No kbp, if your setup is similar to netsurfer's then you may not get optimal results from a Sandisk 240GB drive; however, it will still be faster than a HDD, that's pretty much assured. ;)

        • +1

Thanks SB. Yes, the SATA2 performance (at least on my Asus intel H77 board and another board running old/ancient 965 chipset) is really below avereage.

          SATA3: approx 500MB/sec read/write (sequential)
          SATA2: approx 125MB/sec read/write (sequential)

Another Sandforce chipset SSD of mine has the same issue. However, Crucial m4 (not Sandforce chipset) does not have the same problem (SATA3 still faster, but SATA2 results is quite impressive as well - basically cannot complain with m4's performance when it is connected to a SATA2 port or USB3 port).

Like SB pointed out, even with Sandisk Extreme SSD running on SATA2 (which handicapped the drive quite severely), the performance will still be better than a traditional hard drive. However, it would be worthwhile running the drive on SATA3 (get a SATA3 card if needed / maybe Asus U3S6).

        • Ta Stewball

        • Ta netsurfer

  • Another good sale from Memorycity. So tempting to buy one but my Mushkin 64Gb SSD still doing a great job and not short of space at the moment.

  • +2

I haven't searched for a better price but they seem reasonable if you're looking for a Sandisk SSD.
It might be worth looking to see if there's a better deal if you're after a Sandisk

Personally I'm waiting for an Aussie dealer to sell the superior Corsair M4 256GB for $200 or less.

    • +3

Corsair M4? Do you mean Crucial?

    • In terms of raw speed using SATA3, Sandisk Extreme SSD is faster (esp. in sequential write speed).
That said, Crucial m4 has been around for a while and it is quite well regarded (and the performance hit on SATA2/USB3 is a lot less - more consistent performance).

MemoryCity's prices beats MSY prices and you don't need to go to MSY to get the SSD (last time I went, they did not have any Sandisk ones in stock).

  • +1

The 128gb version is cheaper from Dealsdirect.com.au when you pay with Paypal and use the "PAYPAL25" coupon code (also the 256gb version but that is nearly sold out):

    Order Total
    $145.95
    $14.95
    -$36.49

    Total: $124.41

    • Is the PAYPAL25 code only for Dealsdirect, or all Paypal purchases from anywhere?

Do you enter the code in Paypal or in Dealsdirect's checkout?

  • Never knew these guys made ssd's. Their sticks are pretty good quality; not to sure about the SSD's though.

    • Most of their sticks sucks? Unless you buy the premium stuff.

  • Ah crap just bought the 120GB model on Monday…..geez….

  • These have TRIM right?

    • Yes, they do. I think it's hard to find a SSD without TRIM nowadays.

    • Yes, they have TRIM. With Sandforce chipset, TRIM is not as important as on other chipset. This makes Sandforce chipset based drive more suitable for Mac OSX. TRIM does give the drive better performance though.

  • Great company to deal with. Reasonable prices for Sandisk SSD's too!

  • +1

there was a deal of the 480GB model for USD$397 delivered two days back.. (but i couldn't post a deal here as a new member.. shame…)

    • Hi,

Where did you saw the USD397 delivered? Haven't seen the prices below USD400.

      Cheers

      • Its a US site named Beach Camera.

        • I can't seem to find any SSD on their site?

  • Hi Rep. Will these disk work with SATA 1?

    • +1

Yes and no , sata 1 means you are limited by the speed ie 1.5gb whereas a newer laptop with sata 3 could use this drive properly

for sata 1 you would be better off with the ozc 120gb for 90.00

      • Thanks. Downgraded speed is expected of cause. As long as it can work stably with old SATA, still worth of giving it a go. OCZ seems not very good reputation in terms of quality.

    • +2

In theory yes, but be a little careful. Towards the end of life on SATA1 many manufacturers started including features of SATA2 before it became standardised. Some of these broke their adherance to either standard.

Not likely to be an issue, but just FYI.

    • +1

Like I mentioned above, I found these drives perform very well in SATA3, but not so good in SATA2. It could be my setup. Personally, I would only recommend these SSDs if you plan to use it with SATA 3.

I also have a similar issue with another Sandforce chipset drive (great in SATA3, very average in SATA2).

I wouldn't get a SSD for SATA1, the bandwidth is too limited.

Hi fran, do you also stock SanDisk 32gb extremepro compact flash? I sent a message. Yesterday. But haven't heard back from you yet.

    • Hi xiangtan,

I have replied you this morning, yes we do stock most sandisk range and has the SanDisk 32GB extreme pro cf in stock ready to be dispatched in next business day (around 30pcs)

      Cheers

  • hi Francesca! it 's a bit out of the topic but i really want to know will you bring the SD card and micro SD card back on special soon. I really need them for my phone and camera. We always get a good deal for memory from you. thanks.

      Hi,

      What models are you after?

SD card 16GB Class 10 Ultra - $14.95 on the website now
I will work on a deal soon, if you need them urgent i can arrange that for you.

      Cheers

      • I'm after a micro 32GB class 10 - what's the absolute best you can do on one of those? I would consider a 64 but I'm not sure the device can take one so I'll just play it safe with the 32.

        • +1

          Hi,

All class 10 SanDisk is currently under heavy shortage.
I can't do much on 64gb until i get hold of more stocks.
Its currently at offer price of $35.95 for 32GB class 10 on website. Normally $44.95

          Cheers

        • No worries, will probably grab one of those. Do you have the USB sticks that take micro sd cards at all, looks just like a flash drive but you plug in micro sd cards instead.

        • Hi,

We do not keep any of these usb card readers yet.
Sorry about that, we have USB 3.0 Imagemate Card Reader for all in one use though.

          Cheers

      • So appreciated for your quick respond. I need micro 64G for my phone and 32G for my camera. I will go away on 12 July so i think i should wait for your next deal.

        • Hi,

I may have some coming in, when do you need to purchase?

          Cheers

        • As soon as you got it.

        • Hi,

I've got 50pcs arriving this Friday. Do you need them, i can ship out on Friday once it gets to my place.

          $74.80 (64GB) + $35.95 (32GB) Class 10 micro SD
          = $110.75 + Free Registered Post Delivery

If you are happy with it, can you email your paypal address to [email protected] with the items & price. I will sort it out for you.

          Cheers

      • Any special on the 16GB class H microSD cards coming soon?

        • +1

          Hi,

We only have last 300-500pcs in stock, will run a promotion soon.
Last batch of goods btw, not sure when sandisk is releasing more.

          Cheers

    • Hi,

We are doing for $475 + Free Shipping
$489 excludes shipping on the link you gave.

      Cheers

  • Francesca, I thought its $480 include free shipping? Forgot to mention the link is for Perth only as the saving wasn't real significant for us.

    • Hi.

      Sorry it's $475 free shipping
Intended to do 480 but later changed to 475
      Will change that now.

      Cheers

  • Hi Frans, you've done it again. I'm so tempted to have 2 X 240GB for Raid 0, but will wait when the price is lower $200/each.

    • +11

      Hi,

      Thanks for the support.
I believe it will take a few months to drop below $200 each.
Last heavy dropped was early may, I suspect next big one in August.

      Cheers

      • +2

You are such a good rep.. :-)

      • Looking at getting the 480gb for my x220, will they be dropping in August also (might as well time upgrade with Windows 8 release)

        • Hi robche,

Drop me an email in early august.
What is your target price anyway, around $400 mark?

          Cheers

        • yeah the $400 incl. delivery would be the sweet spot.
you guys don't have any msata ssd drives do you? because I would be chasing one of those at the same time.

Will email you around August ([email protected] ?)

  • great price with free delivery. ive been using the 120gb version ($129 pickup) for a few weeks now. haven't had a issue, 537mbs non raid sata 3, raid 0 was slightly faster but overall id say dont waste your money raiding a ssd? dont even see a need to even raid it. boot up time <5 sec, adobe <3sec non raided.

overall have been happy with the sandisk product, ie cf extreme pro for camera.

other than that. sandisk just seems to be cheap because they seem like they're trying to get into the ssd market.

  • +1

    Great service rep!

  • Pos for rep being informative. Unfortunately Sandisk moves too late and I've already bought more Crucial SSDs than I need.

  • Argh Ozbargain! First post but have bought quite a bit from here.
Grabbed a 120GB. Hope it comes quick in the mail. =D

  • Nice price when you factor in free shipping. I was just about to purchase a M4 128GB but now I've jumped on the 240GB here. Can't have too much SSD now can we?

  • Do you sell USB sticks fran?

    • Hi,

      Yes we do.
both SanDisk & Kingston USB 2.0/3.0

      What are you after?

      • Sandisk, fast one. 32GB or 64GB.

        • Hi,

We have arriving this Friday new sandis usb 3.0.
          http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Extreme-Flash-Drive-SDCZ80-032…

This one i have 32GB for $49.95 (only 10pcs arriving)
          64GB is $89.95.

          Ultra 15MB/s USB Flash 2.0
          32GB- $24.95
          64GB- $46.95

          Let me know.

          Cheers

        • Ultra 15MB/s USB Flash 2.0
          32GB- $24.95
          64GB- $46.95

I like these (the 64GB one). But how do I get them for the prices you quoted? They aren't that price on your web site.

        • PM'd you with my details a few days ago, still haven't heard back from you. Are you still interested in selling the USB sticks?

  • Good price, I just ordered a 240gb. Was on the fence between 120 and 240, but the fact that the 240g is a little faster in sequential write and random read helped make the decision. Im sure it makes little difference but it is still faster on paper..

  • Francesca,

Sorry to hijack. I bought a 16GB Sandisk microSD card from the deal you posted on the 3rd of May. After filling up the card once, it write-protected itself - I can't delete files or partitions, format it, or copy anything else to it. SDFormatter can't format either, it says the card is write-protected. I've tried formatting it with usb readers, SD adaptors with the write-protect tab disabled, and my phone - nothing works, the card is 'frozen'.

I emailed [email protected] about it on Monday night. I still hadn't received a reply by Wednesday so I emailed again. It's now Thursday afternoon and I still haven't heard anything from you guys. What can I do about my dead card?

    Thanks

    • Hi,

Can I please have your email address?

      Thank you

      • Hi Francesca,

I sent you my email address via OZB's messaging system last Thursday. I still haven't heard back. I haven't received a reply from my email to [email protected] last Monday night (and again on Wednesday) either - that's almost one week with no response.

Has anyone else had a problem with their Memory City purchase? Was their response this slow?

        • Hi eug,

I replied emails within 2 business days, all emails are off my check list.
Can i please have your email address?

I will reply to you via OZB msg.

          Cheers

        • Strange, it's not in my inbox, junk folder, or my Postini spam filtering service. I'll send you another OZB message.

          Thanks.

        • Francesca sent out a replacement memory card in the post. Three cheers for Francesca!

        • Hi Francesca,

According to MemoryCity my SD card was sent out last Saturday. It is now Friday afternoon and I haven't received my order. Are these products shipped from Australia? I'm based in Sydney and assumed I would have received it by now?

  • Hi, I've just ordered the $240gb. Mostly due to the good support on the site here, thanks rep.

  • Hi, how long has it taken you guys to receive your orders? It's been 5 business days already since I was told it was shipped and it hasn't arrived. I'm in Sydney. Anyone else had the same experience?

    • Me too, except I'm in perth.
